So I am still catching up on dramas so don’t have any actual first impressions on either of these C-dramas but it’s good to share the news that C-ent has dropped two more dramas for those in a mid-summer slump looking for something up your alley. This past week Tencent premiered Blossoms of Power with Meng Zi Yi and He Yu and over at iQiyi the platform released Key to the Phoenix Heart with Hou Ming Hao and Ai Mi. Blossoms of Power appeals to me slightly more solely for He Yu but Meng Zi Yi still turns me off not to mention she looks exactly like a few of her recent character types and costumes in Blossom and The Princess’s Gambit. Hou Ming Hao does seem to be playing against his usual type but the pre-released discourse remains focused on the age difference with 17 year old Ai Yi and her underage status. But a good drama will overcome any preconceptions so I’ll wait another week to see how these two even out before diving in.
