Zhang Jing Yi and Chen Jing Ke Start Filming Modern Romance C-drama On My Way But Netizens are Displeased with Her Character’s Hair and Costuming
So filming has been underway for modern romance C-drama On My Way, which has a much cuter but quite a mouthful original Chinese title of 致我那菜市场的白月光 or Zhi Wo Na Cai Shi Chang De Bai Yue Guang. The original titles translates as “To My Marketplace White Moonlight” which means he’s her ideal guy that she met in a marketplace with the female lead falling first in this story but the male lead then of course falls harder. Zhang Jing Yi plays the plucky female lead as the drama spans their youthful school days all the way through her adulthood and career success with Chen Jing Ke as the white moonlight that turns out to be less perfect but just as ideal for her as she imaged. Zhang Jing Yi continues riding a wave of C-ent momentum that she picks good projects but C-netizens are not happy with her character’s hair and costumes for this role as the first filming BTS pics are coming out. The promo pics shot by the studio look nice and fine but then she’s a teenagery hot mess in the filming stills, but that probably just means the drama wants to go for a big visual glow up for her character after she grows up.

They should be more worried about whether shes gonna have the same expression ij every scene throughout the drama. The girl cant act at all and is getting all these lead roles thanks to the agency shes in.
XD I thought it was just me! She looked quite pretty in costume dramas I checked but she doesnt have mimics at all while having lead roles like how…
@yarnie really down to her agency (she is from the agency chen kun and zhou xun started n they def have alot of connections). Barely 5 years in and shes already been in lead roles in BOTH dramas and movies.
@annette almost all of the time i dont know what emotions shes tryna portray its so bad
The Zhou Xun and Chen Kun connection. Not convinced she would get all of those deals and roles without that
I’m not a fan either, to me she’s very wooden with limited range and depth compared to many others.
She is way better compared to many others such as Esther Yu, Xu Ruohan, and even popular but very monotonous Bai Lu, to just name a few. LOL. At least, I were able to finish some of her dramas among just a handful of Cdramas that I managed to stick to the end. LOL.
I stay away from the 3 actresses you’ve named as well. But at least the overrated and wooden Bai Lu has 2 to 3 facial expressions, this girl only has 1 LOL and is so ded behind the eyes. No emotions whatsoever
I thought she was good in Lighter and the Princess even if I thought her character was way too desperate for the ML. However, I recently started Blossoms in Adversity and dropped it a few episodes in because of how she acted like a modern person in a historical drama. She was too perfect and plucky with a smile on her face when things around her were going to hell. The other reason was because of the ML and lack of any chemistry btw the two.
The syling and the hair is a mess. They aren’t wrong about that. But if I can watch that one Miles Wei drama where the FL where’s the same outfit almost the entire drama; I can deal with this.
I wonder how old they’re all supposed to be since the teenage look looks like something out of the late 90s/early 2000s, but that would make the characters in current times in their forties? I mean that’s a more realistic age for the career success stage than the usual mid-late 20s in cdramas.
Yes, the teen look is awkward, but I’m pretty sure Zhang Jingyi will look polished by the current timeline.
I was wondering if maybe they are portraying another eras hair do and somehow it looks like a bad wig for the short style. It will stick out like a sore thumb depending how long the hair will last. But it is not the first bad hair displayed for the younger years of female characters. If it is her real hair man they done messed up.
