Modern Romance C-drama Speed and Love with Yu Shu Xin and He Yu Wrap Decent Run and Opens with Douban Rating of 6.7 — 15 Comments

  1. For one time I can’t agree more 100% with Koala about a drama. lol. I followed the drama all because of hot ML until ep 16. Esther Yu basically ran her own fashion show with more than 100 style changes in a supposedly blue-collar setting. lol. Her cringe-worthy acting and voice did not help as usual. lol more. This drama could have done way better with any other more becoming female lead. I personally think Esther Yu ruined quite a few promising dramas with her nepo-connections meddling in the drama production.

    • Even nepo baby got dropped from a high budget drama called The Journey of Glow. Maybe the industry is finally seeing her for who she is – an overgrown baby whose acting/popularity was overrated

  2. I skip dramas with Esther because she really annoys me and yet keeps getting cast in dramas that I would normally watch.

  3. It’s 2026 and people are still bashing on Yu Shuxin 🙄

I think it’s funny that her male leads never get dragged through the mud for their acting abilities yet her voice and overall personality constantly are.

She has had multiple hit dramas across all three major platforms (IQIYI, Tencent and Youku) and has helped boost her male leads profile significantly.

And yet you don’t see her male leads who haven’t had many hits cop the same abuse.

Not a Yu ShuXin fan but just an observation. If you are going to call out Yu ShuXin’s acting in this drama you should also call out He Yu for his limited facial expressions. He fits the role perfectly but other than being “hot” he doesn’t really have more than 3 facial expression throughout the whole drama .

    • Well if the likes of Zhao LuSi can be called a “great actress” after delivering what looks like a robotic constipation-looking performance in “Love Ambition”, it is no wonder people would think an actor with three expressions on his face is doing a decent job. Nevertheless people are not wrong to call Yu Shu Xin acting bad especially with those clownish facial expressions she has been serving us to emulate what is her understanding of a young girl. I mean she got all of those ressources and opportunities and this is the “great acting” she’s got. Ok… lol

      • ZLS is a great talent but not a great actress YET, definitely way more charismatic than many other popular C actresses such as repetitively stale Bai Lu. lol

      • @Somebody “great talent” ? The group of traffic 95’s actresses do have no real talent. They are lucky they got backers and they are granted opportunities.

    • His acting is limited but not distracting. Hers is so bad and over the top that it is not only cringe, but also completely takes you out of it. She keeps acting the same way so of course people are going to continue to critique her. She’s not improving. She’s 30 but continues to act in this petulant way. It’s extremely offputting to watch a grown GROWN woman act like that.

  4. I tried but I too got distracted by the much more interesting and less grating characters in Shine on Me. He Yu is super pretty but neither the story or his beauty could keep me.

  5. Ive been watching this and found it very enjoyable. Glad Esther provided this star vehicle for He Yu – he’s done a sterling job of convincing me he is his character, from the dude with attitude to the caring partner to almost a lovestruck fool.

  6. The way her character was written wasnt my type of female lead to enjoy but then with her acting… it got worse and I dropped this one.

  7. Yu Shu Xin acting was as bad in “Lovegame” but people kept on praising her overacting just because drama was a “hit” lmao and people gotta hype traffic actors.

  8. YSX’s looks are exposed in modern drama. I didn’t think much of her looks before as I’ve mainly seen some parts of her acting in historical, but…she should really stay away from modern dramas.

  9. Continue after I stopped at ep 4, and dropped at ep 11. I feel like I’m reading something from Wattpad when I was a teen and it’s too cringe. I usually can watch cringe drama like When The Phone Rings but probably both main casts are not a good choice to act in this kind of drama.
