Park Eun Bin and Kim Jae Won Cast in Sageuk Romance K-drama The Wicked Queen
So first comes The Remarried Empress and then will come The Wicked Queen in K-drama land. K-ent is reporting that Park Eun Bin has been cast as the titular wicked queen in an upcoming sageuk K-drama adaptation of a web novel. Her male lead will be Kim Jae Won, who is now either the luckiest up-and-coming young actor in K-ent with top actresses. He’s currently acting opposite Kim Go Eun in Yumi’s Cells 3 and from there he will get to act with Park Eun Bin. He’s doing fine with a reserved stoic character in YC3 and is easy to watch but it’s hard to tell the depth and breadth of his acting ability. The wicked queen will have Park Eun Bin as an ambitious concubine and Kim Jae Won will play the King and their tense and calculating dance of romance. The drama will likely air in 2027 since we’re in spring 2026 already.

Although a fan of sageuk and a fan of PEB, I’m lowering the bar for this one because of the ML. PEB’s las sageuk was The King’s Affection. The storyline kept me interested, but I didn’t find the male lead appealing at all. His presence was weak. Unfortunately, the chemistry just wasn’t there. I dropped TKA. I really hope this one doesn’t fall into the same trap.
He is cute as PD Shin. That haggard look in casual clothes really suits him when he was rushing to get on the train with Yumi kinda made me appreciate his appeal. No wonder Yumi developed a crush on him despite being infuriated by him with his cluelessness in the beginning.
