Lost You Forever Chapter 35: Where Did Such Person Come From — 53 Comments

  1. I’m almost crying now, I can’t express how much I’m thankful and touched that you finally updated. More powers Ms. Koala.

  2. First, I would like to sincerely thank you for continuing with the translation. I’ve been silently, but devoutly, following your postings and love every moment of it. Thank you very much! This is the first comment I’ve ever done anywhere, but, I’m moved to voice my appreciation of your effort!

Second…I have a suspicion about Zhuan Xu’s motive for revealing Xiao Yiao’s parentage…not sure if anyone feels the same way…

    • If I’m not wrong, I think it’s because Zhuan Xu wants to take over Gao Xing. So, he’s trying to end XY’s relationship with the Grand Emperor before he starts the war. I think the smart Jing also knows about this.

      • Thank you for pointing out the reason for Jing’s strong reaction. I didn’t fully understand it, but now it makes sense.

Things will get emotionally complicated for Xiao Yao again when she finds out / figure out who started the “rumors”.

  3. I find it amusing that XL and Jing are always working together to help XY and each other, and they seem to acknowledge and accept that they both love her and don’t pry. Ha! Since the guys don’t mind, XY really should start her own harem. Thank you Koala Highness for your dedication to this wonderful story. We love your thorough reflections and amazing translations.

I don’t understand the politics behind XY choosing the last name, though. Any insights will be greatly appreciated!

    • Oops, I reread it, and answered my question. I skimmed it the first time because I was so excited about the new chapter. Then I savored it. Thank you, Koala!

  4. Thank you so much Ms. Koala for updating!!! I love the last part with Jing 😀 Xiang Liu is so charming in this chap. Can’t wait for the next chapter.

  5. I’m glad the break revitalized you and yoy feel you can dive back in.

Xiao Yao you need to think about what your Dad is doing and why…and really consider why the rumors didn’t stop or what your change in name means for relations with Gao Xing…it’s all the bigger picture. Of course Jing won’t tell because he doesn’t want to hurt her *sigh*

  6. anyone understand what that convo between jing and xiang liu mean?
what is that something valuable that jing want to offer to xiang liu?
I don’t quite understand what “it” they are referring to

because my initial interpretation was that Jing wanted thanks Xiang Liu on the basis as XY’s boyfriend, but Xiang Liu refused because he did it as XY’s friend. Is the “it” XL referring to is XY’s love or friendship?

    • Annie@
You got the right gist of it, I interpreted it as, Jing willing to pay Xiang Liu for comforting Xiao Yao, as Jing is grateful to Xiang Liu for helping Xiao Yao feel less pitiful. Xiang Liu replied that of course he wants to receive ‘it’, if and when he wants to receive that valuable payment, it would be given by Xiao Yao ‘herself’.
If Jing didn’t realize the extent of Xiang Liu’s affection for Xiao Yao before, he most certainly does now.
Xiang Liu was admitting that he too cares for Xiao Yao, and what he does for her, it’s because he wants to do it for her.

    • Now she’s on equal family level as Jing so their marriage would be more suitable.

I just like it because on a meta-level Xiao Yao gets to choose between the two last names her mom toggled between.

Xiao Yao’s mom, as Xuan Yuan Ba she was the Princess with family baggage and national responsibility. It’s what made her unable to be with the man she loved in Qi Yo. It’s also why she had to marry the Grand Emperor since Shao Hao was engaged to Xuan Yuan Ba.

If folks are confused about names, the powerful god families may give their children lofty names based on the family register naming mechanism but then they will typically have more casual nicknames. Hence Xiao Yao’s real name is Jiu Yao but everyone calls her Xiao Yao, and Ah Nian’s real name is Gao Xing Yi but her family calls her Ah Nian, so Xiao Yao’s mom’s full name is Xuan Yuan Ba but everyone calls her Ah Heng. So when she was wandering the world she used her mom’s last name of Xi Ling paired with her nickname of Heng and called herself Xi Ling Heng. It’s also why the Grand Emperor calls her “Ah Heng” when he reminisces about her.

But when Xiao Yao’s mom was wandering the world as Xi Ling Heng, using her mom’s last name, she was carefree and could love and be with any man she wanted. But she couldn’t be Xi Ling Heng forever since she was born Xuan Yuan Ba.

Now her Xiao Yao gets to pick, a choice her mom didn’t have, and she picked the freedom to love. I really loved how TH brought that into this novel.

      • Beautiful…how ms koalas explain here…I also note the motives behind the fight of the yellow and black emperor over which last name XY should take…yellow emperor want XY to be protected by the most powerful last name while ZX wants her to have Xi Ling instead because I am sure he didn’t want her to share his last name yet till he make her his woman…taking Xuan Yuan would make her officially his sister and so put a block between them…sad how ZX spread the rumour about her birth to cut off her relationship with Grand Emperor so that he can wage war against GuoXin. Haiz..very selfish…

  7. Squeeeeee, Thank you Miss Koala, Thank you for translating this next chapter. Can’t wait to read it. Will come back with comments once I’ve digested this chapter. Once again thank you. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sooo happy 🙂

  8. thank you, ms. koala for the update. i have been patiently waiting for the update knowing that you must be busy with works and family. today is the happiest when i saw the update. enjoyed reading all your translations. once again, a big thank you from your fan.

  9. SQUUEEAAL! XY and Jing are freakin adorable together. I love that last scene of them together.

Ms. Koala, thank you for all your hard work!

  10. Did you all miss that Xiang Liu kissed Xiao Yao on the forehead?!?!

Such a kyaaa moment from a guy who holds back ALL THE TIME. Of course he had to first cover her eyes so she couldn’t see, but hot dang it.

Jing and Xiang Liu’s talk was as candid as can be, Jing wants to make it clear that he’s going to repay anything Xiang Liu does for Xiao Yao, Xiang Liu makes it clear that if he’s going to ask for anything in return it’s not going to be from him.

    • Haha definitely caught that! I think it is a really sweet scene. I do hope there will be another book following 长相思. I really want XY to find out about the depth of XL’s affection for her. Anyway many thanks for translating it. Finished reading the Chinese book but I enjoy reading your English translations too!

    • I certainly didn’t miss that Xiang Liu kissed her forehead,I was so happy that he finally did it. Haha, that Xiao Yao felt it, but then couldn’t really believe that he did do it. Why couldn’t he just give her a sweet kiss on her lips, that she could see and feel?(that would of had me doing a happy dance!!)

I’m soooo pleased that Xiang Liu was the one to be there to comfort her when she broke down in tears. Wow Xiang Liu such a sweet guy here, he so understands her, he knows exactly what to say to Xiao Yao to distract her and lighten her mood. Glad he reminded her of the sea as a place she can go to, if she ever needs it. The lovers bug is definitely a true heart to heart connection, she felt his heart beat before she saw the man.
Xiao Yao was nearly falling/torn for the rouge FFB until she remembered! that is very telling of how she feels for him.

Jing is starting to be more of a man and less of the forlorn can’t grab on to his love guy that he was before. Glad that his love for her is so steadfast. If FFB was still around, would Jing win her heart?
If it was a competition between Jing and Xiang Liu and they both were free of responsibilities and a level playing field, who would win?
Honestly I think she loves both guys, but really her soulmate is Xiang Liu, and maybe really deepest in her heart she craves Xiang Liu’s love in return (we know he loves her, without acting up-on it, tsk, tsk,Xiang Liu what a pity!).

so liked the conversation between Jing and Xiang Liu, albeit short but very succinct. I think its game on now for all three guys, each with their own ways of protecting and comforting Xiao Yao, even more now that she is known as Qi Yo daughter.

Zhuan Xu is out of the running for lover (he is very cunning in starting the rumors and distancing Xiao Yao from Goa Xing).

Can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.

Thanks again Miss Koala, so appreciate your hard work.

    • I noticed alright. And when Xiang Liu said Xiao Yao could always go to the sea if there was no other place for her, I thought that was a subtle invitation to Xiao Yao to go be with him…or is that reading too much into it?

      • So has the prospect for Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao changed now that she revealed to be Qi Yo’s daughter? Is Xiang Liu going to fight for Xiao Yao now, hence the living-in-the-ocean invite, the forehead kiss, and the candid response to Jing?

      • Your guess is as good as mine on this one Lovethisbook@. I would hope that is the case, what you suggested, but something Miss Koala wrote some chapters ago, gave away the clue of who she ends up with.

At this moment, I think it helps that she has demon blood flowing through her veins, and not any demon blood but that of the most notorious Demon devil there ever was! Xiang Liu is certainly softening towards her, as in he is allowing himself to expose more emotions to and for Xiao Yao. Having the knowledge that the Great Princess General was madly in love with a Demon devil helps.

He couldn’t let her marry into a loveless marriage, he won’t give her up to just anyone, that person must be worthy of Xiao Yao’s love, that person must be with her for a lifetime and is willing to die for her, do anything to protect her, make her smile and understands her needs, so that means Jing is the most eligible candidate barring himself of course. (as you can tell, I’m a big fan of Xiang Liu and would be sooo verryyy happy if she did end up with Xiang Liu).

    • Omgahh I totally missed that! Thank you for pointing it out. I just thought XL was more charming and expressive in this chap. Maybe it’s because I would have never dreamed that the austere XL could be that …candid?…romantic? Imma go reread that scene like 10 times now.

    • OMG How could I have missed it!!! I will go back and re-read my XL – XY moment!! Having said that, on the lips would have been better.

  11. Hmm I think Jing doesn’t really know XL likes XY, he might think XL is doing all these to demand a favor in return from XY one day. Hence Jing’s reaction after XL’s comment…

Jing smiled “Thank you for comforting her. I’ll definitely offer something of value but the question is whether you’ll want it?”

Xiang Liu said in half serious half joking tone “Of course I want it, but ——— not from you!”

Jing’s expression changed while Xiang Liu laughed out loud and disappeared into the fog.

  12. Thank you so much for the chapter! I swooned and giggled and squealed and everything else reading this really bittersweet part of Xiao Yao’s life.

I don’t know why exactly, but the contrast of life before vs life now struck me in this chapter. The two lines about Xiao Yao having a bit of hope b/c the people who were helping her were Clan Leader and Black Emperor…. and then later, hanging out, eating BBQ & wine, but this time, they don’t know where to go because their stations in life would never have allowed them to find out all the tasty street shops…. It kind of reflects on Xiao Yao’s non-ambition of saying “look, these are two of the most rich and powerful gods in the time, and they are unable to protect her and don’t know the info [of hang out places] that she wants – what use is all that power and money for Xiao Yao?”

Last thing, – I’m so happy to see Jing’s awesomeness being recognized by the characters – Xiao Yao and Zhuan Yu about how clever he really is, and even Xiang Lu about how capable/powerful he is (all the times they bartered services and provisions, the line ~”when the Tu Shan Clan leader says thanks, you listen carefully not to miss out on anything”).

  13. I don’t really understand why Grand Emperor let Xiao Yao go?
“What the Grand Emperor did appeared to be punishing Xiao Yao, but in truth he was taking all the shame of being cuckholded on himself.”

    What’s that mean?

    • Vini@
Grand Emperor loves Xiao Yao, but he let her go, because he knows that it is best for her if he shoulders the shame ‘of being duped into believing that she was his daughter, raising her as his own all these years’. Cuckoo birds lay their eggs in another birds nest and makes the other bird do all the hard work of keeping it warm etc. That’s why the saying of ‘Cuckholed’. Although he was never duped, he knew all along that she was not his daughter. He tried to avoid letting other’s know and recognizing that she was Qi Yo’s daughter from preventing her of wearing the Red ceremonial gown when she came back to Goa Xing, but she ended up wearing it because of Ah Nian destroyed the white one (maybe the robes colours were the otherway round).

  14. Thanks a million Koala unni. I do hope that Xiao Yao and the Grand Emperor have some closure and she comes to understand that he still loves her and he did to protect her. I also hope at some point it comes out why Qi Yo did all those things he did. I think I read somewhere that Qi Yo killed those families bc they were a danger to Sheng Kingdom bc they didn’t want to lose their powers to reforms? If anyone can please explain or elaborate much appreciated

  15. I think it is a relief for XY to have her hidden suspicion finally revealed as truth. While she struggled against being the daughter of Qi Yo, and tried desperately to find anyone who could have a good word to say about him, it is still a relief that rather than constant fearing and living in suspense, she now has to live with this fact and move on with her life.

I like how XL comforted her and even elicited some laughter from her. That light brush of his lips on her forehead goes to show that no matter how he controlled his emotions, he could not resist comforting her when she looked at him with a clear, teared eyes.

I sense ZX’s hostility towards Jing in their encounter after XY left the restaurant. He dismissed him coolly and Jing said `your humble servant i am going’.

I like the scene of XY and Jing sitting quietly by the edge of the lake. XY who has all the excitement (torture and pain and sadness) to last a long lifetime, sitting quietly, talking about this and that makes for a happy time.

  16. Koala, thank you for the generous gift of your time and effort. You’re beyond awesome.

Like everyone else, I really like this chapter, because XY begins to face one of her worse fears, and realizes she can survive it. I like the end a lot too, where she indicates that she’s aware of Jing’s nature.

Reading this I feel as though everyone is double speaking. Their words can take on different meanings. IRL if I had to deal with people like this, i’d go crazy. It seems XZ, XL are not going to back off from XY, in fact they’re going to stake their claim on her…ha ha ha poor Jing.

Throught out this chapter, I kept thinking of the chess game XZ, XY, and Jing played. Jing had to counter XZ’s moves and XY’s gleeful sabotage. I’m looking forward to see what XZ and Jing’s got up their sleeves.

  17. Thank you, Koala! Totally understand your need for a break and resync after so many chapters of hard labour translating. It was a delight to see this chapter appear, and a greater one to savour it.

I like it that XY had to face head on the hard truth of being Qi Yo’s daughter, though I was truly surprised ZX was behind it. What did he really mean about protecting her by doing it?

Haha all the man-to-man talk in this chapter, ZX-J, J-XL, all the discussions about XY away from XY’s ears… Their stake of claim unsaid yet apparent.

XL always appears when XY needs comfort, so aptly and timely. The scene is so touching. That bug sure is useful.

It’s strange to think of XY now as Miss Xi Ling. Isn’t she still rightfully a XY princess despite her name?

Meanwhile hanging out here in the comments till the next chapter…

  18. After reading all the comments i understand a bit why zhuan xu spread rumours regarding who’s xiao yao real father (planning to attack gao xing), why grand emperor break their ties (protect xiao yao from being related to him if war happen and he lose)..
zhuan xu want to become powerful bcoz he want to protect xiao yao, so i don’t understand why he hurt xiao yao by revealing her real father..if xiao yao know the true intentions of zhuan xu& grand emperor, she might hate him..he must aware of it right?its not like if he become the most powerful emperor,he can get xiao yao and force her to be with him..i dont’t think he have the heart to do that since she is so precious to him& he already give up since the start (he cant be one woman man towards her)

  19. How can one woman be so lucky… you have one that adores her, another who protects her and one that unconditionally and secretly loves her…I am so torn because she deserves a mans love. there is one fleeting love you try and grasp but flys away so swiftly but shows up at your weakest moment- who doesn’t want that –
