My Lovely Girl Episode 9 Recap — 23 Comments

  1. I’m actually more curious now to know what exactly happened between Jae Young and Hyun Wook in the past to justify this level of douchebaggery coming from him. I get that he likes Hae Yoon even though everybody else in their circle of friends know already where Hyun Wook’s heart truly lies, so I don’t see that enough reason for him to consistently screw over Hyun Wook. From my understanding based on the little details that the show has thrown at us, it was Jae Young who did something onto Hyun Wook in the past, and if so, then I’m finding it hard to grasp why is HE angry with Hyun Wook then? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? I don’t want to feel sympathetic with Jae Young but I don’t want to feel extra annoyed by his existence either if for some reason he’s doing all of these for some shallow jealousy after all. So whatever the reasoning is, it better be good.

And for the entire performance debacle, now I don’t seem to grasp what’s the significance of a missing dancer has to do with affecting it at all nor do I think that Shi Woo is such a talentless idol to get distracted over it. Perhaps what’s an even more amazing turn out of events is him getting injured over a fall that probably an elderly person would have walked out off perfectly fine. I just cannot help but roll my eyes over that stunt. And here I thought that Jae Young was planning something big but apart from shutting out his fans, I would have imagined him to be more cunning and sinister than that, but the show has already made a way to make sure that Shi Woo is a walking suckitude all by his own that I cannot help but feel bad for the kid. I mean how many more times can this dude take the brunt of misfortunes? At this point, I question Hyun Wook’s reluctance of destroying Jae Young when he’s got plenty of ammunition already from the bullying, plagiarism, and an entire platitude of shenanigans.

It’s not even a matter of good guys vs the bad guys, but I just wish that the show could dial the douches down a bit and upping Hyun Wook’s game. I don’t know, he just feels too antiseptic that sometimes I wonder whether he’s deservedly getting whatever misfortunes that comes his way, because dude doesn’t want to fight back.

On another note, if Ra Eum somehow becomes the redeeming act to save ANA, I think I might just twistedly enjoy it.

  2. I didn’t love MLG till around the 6th ep or so when that club scene happened. I liked it a lot, but I didn’t feel emotionally invested. Now I surely am.

I’m so mad at Jae-young and his foul play. Its disgusting and manipulative but its also how everything works no? I wish Hyun-wook would look at things from a different POV because he’s so morally right all the time and just expects everyone else to be as well. Its clearly a wrong assumption in this case. Its a lesson – a hard one at that – and this will hopefully allow him to base his decisions on how his enemies will react.

I’m in love with Hyun-wook and Se-na and even if the romance has taken a slow turn because of Shi-woo’s debut, there’s still something to relish with their constant thinking of each other and push-pull. Super happy that Se-na knows the truth so its time to move on from that hurdle and face bigger ones. I’m loving what I see in tomorrow’s promo, so here’s hoping it will live up to my expectations.

Poor Shi-woo. This is horrible but I also think it could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe he can now focus on ballads like Hyun-wook thought he should’ve from the start. It will allow him to differentiate himself from Infinite Power and possibly establish himself as a solid singer. He can even have Hyun-wook compose for him! I quite enjoyed that lollipop scene! Its been a horrible week for them all so it all gets better from here I hope.

  3. oh whoa this drama is cruel to Shiwoo, I already knew about the silent treatment from the fans for his performance before the episode aired, but I didn’t expect him to tear his ligamen and unable to perform for a few months. that’s suck. and then there’s the incoming heartbreak. at least he really shines as a character. he is funny but at the same time really pitiful. I feel that it’s kind of unfair though that he is basically the biggest victim of a fight that he is not even a part of.

Seriously I hope karma bits Jaeyoung hard in the ass, and MHDR too. I want to see the ostracization of shiwoo being brought up to the media since people are basically blaming shiwoo for the break up.

And ooh I’m curious if Sena finally found out about Soeun and Hyunwook or not, I hope she really knows because well…she just needs to know and her relationship with Hyunwook can develop faster once they got over that.

  4. I’m still hoping the drama still has some surprise. Somewhere. My better judgement screams nay though, knowing the wiles of k-dramaland and MLG is as formulaic as they come. I predicted plenty of things happening here, including HW playing noble idiocy. HW and SN continue to be just okay, nothing that still convinces me. I could have bought them having a sweet, oppa and donsaeng relationship just as easy. I still can see it (I can’t feel the above a friend chemistry much, therefore that’s a given). I also believe it would have been more original? Imagine just two people helping each other heal after losing a mutual loved one without the k-drama rule of it needing to be romantic. It will still hold the same intentions and gestures of the set ups and interactions without trying to make me buy that they can be lovers. HW would have looked over and protected the youngsters. What do they call it? Intergenerational friendship? An example will be The Karate Kid films. Just as touching.

    But it’s a k-drama.

SW and SN really are a thrill, but it’s not happening. At least they’re still great to watch.

Anyway, I know how ruffles are twisted when someone mentions their OTP in a light that isn’t agreeable to them, so I guess this will be the first and last time I share an opinion on that topic before my head gets chopped off. I doubt the next episodes will change my mind anyway.

Others thought last time people were over exaggerating that Shi Woo is this drama’s cosmic plaything, but he actually is. That poor kid. You can tell the show is just being cruel to him.

What I don’t understand (the only thing that I don’t considering how I’m aware of how this drama will go) is why Se Na hasn’t full blown rejected him yet. The time might not have been ideal considering the unfortunate hand Shi Woo has been dealt with…again, yet it’s better to bring it all out so he could spend the next episodes recovering and focusing on his career (and being collateral damage…again) and shooting back up. Ot was the perfect chance. The PDs have made it clear they are going for HW/SN, so dragging SW’s upcoming plate of misery doesn’t make any sense to me. There’s nothing to play with anymore unlike other dramas since they themselves killed that potential, so to keep it going is just…confusing? Unnecessary? There’s no point other than to please viewers, but viewers are savvy enough to have known the inevitable after Ep. 7 if they weren’t down for the leads together. If that wasn’t an apparent sign, the kiss was. They certainly have a good amount of stuff to cover than Shi Woo’s useless attempts at something that won’t be returned in how he expects it to be.

  5. So it was ‘Super Striction’ LMAO, I actually didn’t get it till you mentioned. FAILLL! Jae Young is such an asshole, I want to flush him down the drain. This drama better give me a real good reason why he happens to be so despicable and vengeful outside the usual jealousy issue he has with Hyun Wook. Dude is crazier than Hae Yoon! How’s that even possible? At least Hae Yoon has whatever reason of being in love with him when he told her failing midterms wasn’t the end of the world. What excuse does Jae Young have? Btw, I actually find Hae Yoon’s simple reasoning of falling in love with Hyun Wook understandable. It isn’t rocket science to fall for someone, so the drunk scene was relatable in a sense. If maybe she didn’t put her bitch face and attitude on as soon as she sees Se Na, I may just feel bad for her. If only…

Hyun Wook and Se Na are officially my favourite couple of the year. They’re so sweet without being saccharine and their love shines in their eyes. They’re also very grounded and lack the dramatics we see in almost all dramas. I love them so much as individuals who’re idealistic and still multi-dimentional enough to have awesome personalities outside being in love with each other. The one step forward, one step back moment was painful for them – and for me. I hope Se Na finds out the truth soon and is able to forgive Hyun Wook. More so, I hope he’s able to forgive himself and be a songwriter again.

    Thanks for the recap!

  6. Hyunwook and Sena are wrong to me cause I don’t feel the chemistry. And I don’t believe that Sena doesn’t see Shiwoo romantically. If that was the case, she would’ve told him not to like her since he openly posed that question. But she prefers to stay silent and stare back at him with the same intensity that he does. I’m opting for a plot twist here.

    • So I’m not the only one who finds the lack of rejection confusing. Before, I chalked it up to her being innocently unaware of his obvious advances (she can pick up on plenty of things with Hyun Wook though), but that excuse doesn’t work anymore by this episode as Shi Woo was, uh, very blunt. I mean, he’s been blunt but he had to spell it out for her. She also didn’t back away or got out of his grip when he pulled her near.

Now, I’m not entirely convinced it would be a twist, but I do know that I’m never fond of leading someone on for no reason. The drama also doesn’t need to play with the thought. We’ll see how things go in the next episode, which aired already actually…

      • kid longs for company. in dire need of a friend. and a wee bit of inspiration. and who does he want to be just those? YES. so will the show even deprive him that? and it’s not like he’s even got plans on actually dating her. he just simply likes her. and tells her so. she gets that. because she’s nice and all. and too happens to be in need of a job. so there’s that and that he knows his priorities now. good for him. kudos boy. he’s indeed growing up nicely. shouldn’t we too, with him? 😉

        LOLLL

    • well you better start believing in it then just as you should have from ep 1. this drama is a no-brainer when it comes to who’s ending up w/ who. if you still find it hard to believe, just check out the main poster… oh yes, right there. and whose faces are you seeing being all lovey-dovey right in the middle? yeah. and there goes your answer right there. so start believing, like believe it w/ all your heart and soul and be done with it, lest you get your heart crushed like shiwoo in the end. though i’m pretty sure shiwoo wouldn’t take it just as hard as the others who still blindly ship him and SN til the very end. LOL. just sayin’. peace out 😉

  7. This drama is not great but it’s easy on eye. Some details bother me…like the voice of Krystal, I really don’t like her song or her style, the clothes are a bad choice, she’s beautiful but I can’t see it in this drama…
For the love story, I would prefer her with Shin Woo but I know she will end with Hyun Wook.

  8. *sigh. shi woon and se na – is it wrong that i love this pairing more even when i know their ship will never sail? i found krystal’s fashion in this drama to be, erm… bland. i know they’re trying to make her this oh-so-normal everyday heroine, but the fashion is just so bad imo.

  9. I may not like this drama but I love Siwoo as a character. And I really agree that Sena should reject him already so we can see him recover. No need to drag the obvious.

  10. Idk, I just don’t feel excited about this drama anymore because everything is so predictable. So I’m simply taking my time easy watching each episode and then get on your site to read recap/comments.

It’s strange the love story between the main leads are so atypical of K drama. It just feels lukewarm to me although the plot has logically conveyed everything leading to the expected result. By contrast, each flirting scene between Siwoo and Sena made my heart flutter even though I know they’re not going to end up together.

  11. can anyone please tell me what songs are used in the scene when hyun wook’s checking on trainees for their debut when he’s trying to select and launch a boy group within a month, he checked on them and watch their quite performance and i was dying to hear the songs that the trainee boys sang on the scene(please help me find the song)
