    Superb!!

*still can’t get over XiangLiu-XiaoYao ship*

  6. O M G!!! I’ve read chapter 36 like 10 x thinking I missed something where it said it was the last chapter! Lol
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS AND ALL YOUR WORK!!
    Yeahhhhh I’m so happy ;D

  7. Wait, I’m confused, I thought that XY needed the peach blossum to not age as faster than the other gods. If it was taken out, will she be ok?

    • Remember she has Xiang Liu’s blood in her which makes her part demon now. So even though she lost her god powers and will age faster than other gods, with the demon side of her who knows what that’ll do to her aging rate. Xiang Liu is basically the same after thousands of years. On the flip side, I doubt Jing will care whether she looks older than him, he would take her if she was missing body parts or got turned into an animal. He already loved her when she was a guy!

      • Koala can you explain why she needed to take out the peach blossum?

also can you explain how it was possible for the voodoo bugs? Is it because XY loves XL without her even realizing it and vice versa? XL knew about the bugs and accepted it without hesitation, his reason was has to definitely mean he loved her lol

    • My take on why they wanna take out the peach blossom: it is after all, a foreign object in her body, and hence it is not natural to keep something else inside your body for too long. It is also a painful reminder of the past (the visible stamp on her forehead), which she can let go off now, so she no longer needs it. And just as Koala explained, she also doesn’t need it to prolong her ‘youth’ anymore.

  8. Grahhh I know Jing is totally devoted to XY but I just see so much more happiness and chemistry between her and XL! I got so annoyed with Zjing being all clingy, such as tagging along with her when she saw the voodoo King and then holding her back when she was about to jump.

      • It also amazes me how Jing shippers don’t see that XY wanted to be alone when she spoke to the voodoo king & wanted to jump into the ocean to follow Xiang liu. I’ve read many of your comments. Even after Koala mentioned that it was XL that XY wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Your acknowledgement was no more than a ‘ah, too bad they can never be together’. Don’t call out other pl for being bias when nearly all of your comments carries the same tone!

  9. Damn Xiang liu is so damn manly!? I love how she was ready to jump without any reservation and she STILL doesn’t know everything XL done for her! Ugh I can’t wait till she fully understands the love of that man.

  10. THANK YOU THIS IS AMAZING. I too thought u might’ve given up. who knew u would give such a wonder surprise! the agony zhaun xu must feel. im so happy xiao yao found the truth. & also her talk w her gramp was good. it’s one heavy burden her grandpa held, what a good talk. thankyou koala & I can’t wait to read the next chapter! 😀

  11. OMG OMG OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Cannot wait to start reading this but for the fact that I’m in a lecture at the moment.

  12. My first reaction was gasping out loud and making sure my eyes weren’t tricking me lol so nice to read a new chapter, thanks Koala!

Idk why I’m so confused about the voodoo bug xD It feels like there’s still so much more missing, sadly the Voodoo King didn’t get to expound more on the subject.

  13. Thanks for this Koala! I was starting to think your haitus will take more than half a year! Re-reading this chapter still pains my heart. Especially the part with Xiang Liu and Zhuan Xu. And what will happen afterwards, I hope no one will suffer from a heartbreak, haha.

Can’t wait to see a live-action of this. My Xiang Liu~

  14. Since Sept 2014, I have been waiting for your new post. Been stalking this site since then. The wait is well worth it. Thank you for your hard work.Don’t let us wait too long for the next chapter pleaseeeeee.

  15. I think Zhuan Xu is such a sad character. What strikes me is how both Zhuan Xu and Xiao Yao both asked the “what if” question about their parents. It colors the story in such quiet melancholy that it breaks my heart for them not as lovers but as lonely adults.

Even though Zhuan Xu had little screen time in this chapter, I have to say he is the one that appealed to me here. There is a sense of self hatred, lost hope, and a shred of regret that lines his character that resonates with me. The Grand Emperor once said that he traded everything he had for everything he wanted. While I do not think Zhuan Xu went so far as to trade everything he has, I do think that to protect everyone he loved, he sacrificed that part of the relationship that was meaningful to him. When he said that he can give Xiao Yao the type of protection the Grand Emperor can offer after becoming Emperor, I do not think he expected that this would mean he would not be able to offer Xiao Yao the emotional support he wanted to give her.

In some ways Zhuan Xu reminds of Fourth Prince. I always have the sense that fourth prince wanted to become emperor because he wanted the power to control his own life and protect the people he loved. Power meant freedom to him. The irony is that having this power didn’t give him freedom nor did he gain the sense of control he thought he would. Rather Fourth Prince felt even more limited and trap when he became emperor and he lost the people he loved. I think Zhuan Xu is similar in that vein. Zhuan Xu believed that becoming powerful was the only way he can live freely and safely with Xiao Yao. So it is sad that Zhuan Xu can see how Xiao Yao is slowly drifting away from him. What cracks me up is that it is totally obvious to everyone else that Xiao Yao’s is Zhuan Xu’s weakness. She literally sweet talks him to get out of trouble when she drives him bonkers every time.

Anyways, Koala, I am SOOOO happy that you updated Lost You Forever. I was actually re-reading the old chapters because I missed it so much.

  16. Been a constant follower since forever, even when there were no more updates on LYF, still kept on checking hoping there would be one when i refreshed.

So my heart beat multiple beats for a moment there whrn i saw the update, i have to blink to make sure its not just a fragment of my imagination. Thank you so much for bringing my favorite characters back from their sleep. I love and missed you all. Welcome back. (*^﹏^*)

  17. OMG! The lovers bug, Xiao Yao has no clue that the reason why she was able to plant the bug in Zhuan Xu initially was because he as always secretly loved her. She still is under the allusion that she has no relationship with Xiang Liu, yet the bug was successfully planted in him, and he was a willing recipient of the bug, ‘it’s because he loves her, truly, deeply and unselfishly’. Xiao Yoa needs to wake up and start connecting the dots and go over everything she has been told and know about the bug, because its a very big clue of how Xiang Liu feels about her.
I really disliked the fact that because Jing was there the Voodoo King was unable to elaborate further the reason he believes why the other bug is in Xiang Liu, oh how I wished it was spelt out to Xiao Yao, that only true lovers can grow that bug so well within each other.

Poor Zhuan Xu, when he confessed that he would always love one woman his entire life and be devoted to her, if their parents had survived. I felt pity for his pain and hurt, as Xiao Yao laughed in the face of that deep regretful confession of his love for her.

Jing, I know he loves Xiao Yao, but he needs to let her be, he is far to clingy and obsessed with wanting to know everything about her and wanting to always be beside her…damn it if only he could just allow her sometime to talk with Xiang liu under the waves….I feel robbed of that magical and most possibly antagonistic and frustratingly romantic moment!!! grrrrhhhh!!!!

I do believe that should Xiang Liu die, the lovers bug in Xiao Yao will die too but it will not affect her, in that she will survive his death (Xiang Liu knew this, that’s why he is amused when she asked him). He would never allow her to die before him, because he loves her,and that’s why he cherished her for 37 years under sea.

It looks more than likely that her wish for an ordinary married life may come true, but oh how I wish it could be with Xiang Liu instead.

    • Xiao Yao’s relationship with Xiang Liu has always been about mutual denial of their feelings. I believe that both knows what kind of feelings they have for each other, but they would never admit it to each other or themselves-at least openly. Xiang Liu’s interaction with Xiao Yao in this chapter highlights that. Instead of saying he missed her straightforwardly, he asked her the ambiguous question “what else do you think i want?” And the whole scene with Voodoo King? Xiao Yao was basically swimming in denile river. I actually laughed when Jing told her she did not need to rush and explain things. She doth protest too much.

Even if there was no Jing, I can confidently say that Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao will still not be together. Xiang Liu would not leave the deteriorating Sheng Nong Army and Xiao Yao would never betray Zhuan Xu. It’s what makes their relationship so heartbreaking and addicting. If Xiao Yao wasn’t so scarred by her parents love story, maybe she could fall in that reckless passion. But the girl is so damn practical.

I do not think Jing’s actions were clingy or needy. For the most part when Xiao Yao tells him to leave her alone, he usually does much to her chagrin. Just like now, when he saw that she clearly wanted to be alone at the ship, he let her be. In earlier chapters, when Xiao Yao clearly wanted to be alone with Xiang Liu, he steps aside. This is not to say he is a push over because he clearly is manipulative and calculating but he is never calculating with Xiao Yao. I think that in the context of this chapter, Jing clearly knows that Xiang Liu loves Xiao Yao. Moreover, whether he expresses it or not, he understands that Xiao Yao at the very least cares for Xiang Liu very much and that Xiang Liu occupies a place in her heart whether she admits it or not. In the past, he chose not to address or push her to chose because he was engaged. He “lost” her to death once and to this marital realities another time. Now, they do not have external obstacles, it is rightly so that the narrative can finally address the pink elephant in the room which are her not very secret feelings for Xiang Liu. I think Jing is using every chance he got to win the girl he loves and keep her. To be honest, I think out of the three leading men, only Jing actively pursues her and I love him for that.

I love all three male characters. Each has a quality that I admire. I love Xiang Liu for his fearlessness, Zhuan Xu for his resilience, and Jing for his steadfastedness. I think it speaks to Tong Hua’s romance writing abilities that she can create three different but equally beautiful love stories for one leading female protagonist. Even though Xiao Yao loves all three men it does not lessen what each men means to her because they each represent something different to Xiao Yao.

Sorry about this super long rant. I just miss discussing Lost You Forever so much.

      • Agree fully with your analysis. She loves each man in her own way and she has always been consistent in what she wants in her husband and she recognises that Jing is able to be her life partner in the ordinary life that she craves. It is also true that Jing is the only one who actively pursues her and is the only one who is willing to lead the type of life she wants.

      • This comment is really unbias for both xianglu and tuahan jing. You have great sighting❤️

  18. I literally gasped out loud and flailed when I came here and saw the new chapter. I should actually go back and reread the last few chapters, I’ve lost track of the storylines.

Unni, THANK YOU for sharing this labor of love with us! It’s a huge undertaking, and I hope you know it’s not unappreciated. ^_^

  19. Is the Heartbreak Bug foreshadowing that XIang Liu and Xiao Yo couldn’t be together? I still hope Xiang Liu could be together with Xiao Yo, i like their banter. This is the thing i couldn’t find in Jing and Xiao Yo relationship. Jing is too mellow and readily prepared to dedicate himself to Xiao Yo and that’s probably what Xiao Yo needs the most. I’m torn between these to men, whom is the most suitable suitor for Xiao Yo at the end.

  20. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ms Koala! I’ve been greatly anticipating your next drop, and here it is. I’ve read your intro commentary which I always love. Oh, the romantic and bittersweet, heart wrenching! Off to read the chapter now..

  21. Thanks for another chapter Koala! What a treat!
I’m confused about the lovers bug. Why was Xiao Yao able to plant it on Zhuan Xu in the first place and how was she able to transfer it to Xiang Liu?
Technically, she should be able to transfer it to Jing then right?
Also, why is it that Xiang Liu can feel all her pain, but she can never felt his? I thought it works both ways?

    • This is what I know about the Lover’s Bug:

It was not planted properly in Zhuan Xu the first time. He loves Xiao Yao but didn’t know that Xiao Liu was Xiao Yao at that time hence the bug went inside him and was able to work somewhat but not completely. Remember what the Voodoo King said, the man has to be willing to take the bug inside him for it to be properly planted. It was planted in ZX without his knowledge and consent so the process was not done right.

That’s the only reason Xiang Liu was able to move the bug to himself. If the bug was planted properly in ZX then it cannot be moved NO MATTER WHAT. That’s what the Voodoo King was trying to explain to Xiao Yao – there is no way whatsoever to break the Lover’s Bug once it is properly planted in a pair of willing lovers.

The bug is now properly planted in Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao. There is no way Xiao Yao or Xiang Liu or even a powerful Voodoo King can move it to Jing now. There is no way to move the Lover’s Bug once it’s planted, which is the very essence of love at it’s ideal. Once one loves then it’s meant to be forever.

I think Xiang Liu’s great powers is what’s making the bug not work for Xiao Yao to feel his pain, he’s keeping her from knowing what he’s going through. Remember Xiang Liu always knows when Xiao Yao is sad or heartbroken ergo she should be able to feel his feelings. There was once under the sea when Xiang Liu slipped a crack and Xiao Yao thought she felt his heart beating super fast for her but then he controlled it right away.

      • I love Xiang Lu! I am glad that the love bug was successfully plant in both of them because it also tells XL that XY loves him truly. That’s some consolation for him.

      • I think XL is able to control whether XY can sense his heart. The scene at Qing Shui Town (after FFB steals her from the wedding) where he tell her she can leave but warns her not to tell anyone XL is FFB otherwise he will make her die of heartache is him letting her feel his heart for real.

  22. Thanks Ms. Koala! It has been a long time since this update came. I really thought you’ll give up on this. Thanks so much. I know it’s a stretch on your part, but thanks for sharing this to us. 🙂

Whenever I read XL and XY’s interaction, I could feel the suppressed emotions they have for each other. It’s so frustrating yet you know why. T.T I seriously missed XL thought. 🙁

  23. Tq, tq, tq, ms. Koala. I was glared by my boss because suddenly screaming, he was shock, but i’m more shock then him for your “lost u forever ” new chapter,

  24. Thanks Koala for the update!
I felt some serious whiplash while I was checking for some kdrama updates and saw the new chapter for LYF instead! Ohhhh the feels~~ I’m on the XL ship and maybe in my head I’m reading the story in another dimension. Everytime XY and XL interact, you really have to read what’s UNSPOKEN. When XY was asked if she wanted to return to Shen Nong, she looked at the ocean and decided to stay one more night. Maybe she called for XL to come see her? Maybe she knew he was coming to see her? Maybe she missed him so much her heart longed to see him – and bam there he was… for a general so busy keeping his troops alive, what sacrifice did he lay down to see and talk to her for one night?
And when XY looks back to check if anyone heard her laughing, it’s more to check that Jing doesn’t know she’s letting her real feelings be so open in front of XL.
    *sniff*
But then, just like XL…. I can only let my ship sink into the depths of the sea.

Thinking back to their very beginning, XL is the only one that really knows what XY wanted the most in her heart… and in every way, XL gave that to her. He gave her the ability to protect herself, gifted her with a secret escape by turning her into a sea demon so she can run away to the ocean whenever she needs to, and the normal life she ever wanted – he gave that to her in the 37 years of living underwater with him.
ah, so much to be said.
tong hua holds the key to a world we can only see from outside. I wish I can be privy to her mind. amazing work. and thanks Koala for delivering it to us!!! xo, looking forward to mooaaar.

    • @jjtata 🙂
I really like your comment about Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao, so glad that I’m not the only one that is reading the hidden meaning behind what was not said……I may be delusional in my mind, and making up whats not really there between these two, and maybe the author never intended any other meaning??? but so glad that I’m not alone with my crazy make believe reading between the lines whilst shipping these two and making up extra stuff that is not written down in the story!

I believe that Xiang Lui love is the purest and most truest of the three. not saying that ZX or J love her any less, just that Xiang Lui’s love is not selfish, he always thinks what’s best for her, he always allows Jing to be privy to their conversation, just so Jing knows how much Xiang lui loves her but is holding back, and so Jing doesn’t misunderstand anything!

  25. My goodness, reading this again after so long makes me want to re-read the earlier chapters all over again, especially the part where Xiang Liu has the bug implanted in him.

  26. So elated when I saw this. Appreciate you so much. Just cannot thank you enough for continuing this. Love, love this story! Never a dull moment.

  27. Just re-read chapter 8. It’s clear that Xiang Liu approached the implantation of the voodoo bug with completely different intentions than XY. Yet the two hearts danced together in unison indicating quite clearly that they were in love, whether the parties involved acknowledged or realised it. Tong Hua really knows how to write a romantic novel.

  28. OMG !! I am very happy to see your 2015 first post for Lost you forever.
I’d been your secret fan for years but just start reading Lost you forever today. Now I am reading Chapter 2.

    Thank you so much. <3

  29. I like jing and XY pair. Opposite attraction. With XL, this story will go like once promised. If XY were a guy and an emperor, she/he would take two consorts – beautiful and gentle – jing and cool and attractive – XL. Because she/love them both in different ways. XZ could have been her/his empress who would not have been loved. ;-p

  30. The word ” see ya tomorrow ” hurts me so bad… Well, m awaiting n I hope Tomorrow will be come soon in the next chapter. You did a good job ms. Koala. Thx so much
