This C-drama will probably be stupider than a sack of potatoes, but heck if I’m not going to check it out just for Yoon Si Yoon. Before he did Flower Boy Next Door early this year, Yoon Si Yoon spent a good chunk of last year in China filming a modern C-drama called Happy Noodle with C-actress Li Fei Er. Like its title suggests, there are a lot of noodles involved in the story, as the hero is a Korean-Chinese aspiring noodle chef with a great big birth secret and gets embroiled in inheritance battles and love woes as he leaves Korea and goes to China to find his real family. Its no secret I love Yoon Si Yoon to pieces and he seemed really happy to be filming this drama in China, so if he’s happy then I’m all good with taking this chance. I’m sure his voice will be dubbed and that’s a shame, but hopefully it’ll sound somewhat similar to his real life deep sexy timbre. Li Fei Er has a very down-to-earth charm, she managed to stand out as Zheng Ruo, one of the seven wives in Royal Tramp (Huang Xiaoming’s version of the Louis Cha novel Duke and the Cauldron), but that was because she was actually dating Huang Xiaoming hence she got the chemistry leg up on the other six lovely actresses. But her onscreen chemistry is real since I also saw her in the web drama Welcome Love with Joe Cheng and really liked her in it, she has the indescribable ability to make it feel natural and believable that she likes the male lead. At the press conference for the drama, Yoon Si Yoon credited Li Fei Er as his best friend in China and always encouraging him every day on the set to speak Chinese and keeping him company when he was lonely being so far from home and not speaking the language. Awwww. Happy Noodle doesn’t have an airing date yet, but the drama released a boatload of stills recently that show the two leads hanging out, Yoon Si Yoon learning to make noodles, and some stills of the two leads just looking pretty.
