I thought maybe my inexplicable excitement for Dr. Stranger was the result of my last crack drama ending in Bride of the Century and nothing on my plate currently that captures my full attention. But with so many K-dramas line-up on the starting gate for this week’s premiere central I’m still really looking forward to Dr. Stranger so my anticipation for … Continue reading →
Okay, I’m totally ready for my allergy to Lee Jong Seok to get cured. Not sure it will, but if it happens after I watch Dr. Stranger then so be it. I still think he looks weird but I’m quite liking his character in this drama and a good character plus performance can always win me over. The production of … Continue reading →
I like Kang Sora a lot because she’s one of the few among the young actresses that doesn’t rely on the cute or the charm to buoy her acting. That’s not to say she’s not cute or charming but merely an appreciation for how she acts first and then her natural ease on the eyes is like the cherry on … Continue reading →
I find myself increasingly interested in the upcoming SBS drama Dr. Stranger genuinely because of the plot. It sounds so wacky but might be wacky enough to work. Lee Jong Seok plays a South Korean born but North Korean educated genius surgeon who escapes the regime and ends up working in a top notch hospital in Seoul. He’s been recruited … Continue reading →
All I have to say about the upcoming SBS drama Dr. Stranger is that it feels rather haphazard and whiplashy in terms of the sudden transitions between moods. The second video preview is out and this one features only Lee Jong Seok and Jin Se Yeon. In the drama, Jin Se Yeon plays two characters – the first is Lee … Continue reading →
When I saw the first set of official drama stills featuring the second leads of Dr. Stranger together in a scene, my immediate reaction was “Can I have these two in their own drama?” I actually find Dr. Stranger oddly appealing despite my Lee Jong Seok allergy. I think it comes from him acting older rather than younger like he … Continue reading →
I may be anemic to Lee Jong Seok – har har, can’t help but crack a vampire-related joke when it comes to him – but I’m definitely checking out Doctor Stranger when it arrives in early May on SBS. It’s going up against Big Man on KBS with Kang Ji Hwan, who is one of my all-time favorite leading men, but I’m keeping … Continue reading →
I’m still waiting for someone to convince me of the appeal of Lee Jong Seok. Back when School 2013 aired I thought he and Kim Woo Bin would forever be popular actors I would never find interesting enough to watch. I don’t need cookie cutter good looks, far from it really, but I do need my actors to have some … Continue reading →
Park Hae Jin will go from a devoted love-sick swain in You From Another Star to a genius doctor with a secret? I dig that, and he totally deserves the upgrade. I’m thoroughly enjoying Park Hae Jin’s supporting turn in YFAS playing Lee Hwi Kyung, the man-child who has a one-track Cheon Song Yi type of mind, though truth be told … Continue reading →
Alert, alert, K-drama casting change up alert! This is getting so weird I don’t even know where to start. Initially SBS wanted to put teen phenom actor Yeo Jin Gu‘s first headlining drama Can We Love with Yoon Sang Hyun playing the second male lead on its line up. Then it pulled out, probably because the story called for him … Continue reading →
