jTBC Social Class Divide Workplace Romance Drama The Interest of Love Premieres to Slow Burn Pace Buoyed by Simmering Chemistry Between Leads Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Ga Young

So I checked out new jTBC Wed-Thurs drama The Interest of Love (Understanding of Love) and my impression changed a heck ton between the first and second week. The first two episodes were just okay, slow and not that engaging, but I like the leads and am in need of a good romance drama so I decided to keep tuning in the second week. Episodes 3 and 4 this week were MUCH better and now I’m in for the long run. Yoo Yeon Seok and Moon Ga Young are channeling the best of Ha Ji Won and So Ji Sub poor people trying to succeed in life and attracted to each other vibes from What Happened in Bali with less sexual tension and more slow burn chaste love hints. Watching these two doing the mostly push (on her side) and more pull (on his side) is giving the right feels and at least the second lead respective third wheels are not annoying even if I feel nothing for them so if the OTP doesn’t end up together (and there is a 50/50 chance of that) then I’ll walk away likely feeling rather aimless. The workplace politics and education level snobbery is important to the central story but it’s annoying to watch because it makes me want to bitch slap everyone in that KCU bank branch. If you have the patience for a quiet, slow, sometimes frustrating, but rather intriguing romance drama then I think this is worth a shot.
