A manhwa is getting a K-drama adaptation and the set up is straight out of the bibimbap of selecting oft used elements in the entirety of drama land. Yoo Yeon Seok and Lee Se Young are up for Princess Covets the Scholar, the sageuk romance between an assertive princess who falls for the capable scholar in her father’s Joseon court … Continue reading →
So another reunion and this pair is an relative oldie but goodie. Seo Hyun Jin and Yoo Yeon Seok are considering starring in the MBC K-drama Liar. If they do it will be a reunion from 8 years ago with the hit SBS medical drama Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim (Dr. Romantic). Liar tells the story of two people who go … Continue reading →
Well this is becoming a case of which star can top the next tax audit bill for unpaid amounts in South Korea. Last month Honey Lee was hit with a 6 billion won of owed taxes after an audit that started with her agency, and not a month later we have Yoo Yeon Seok topping that amount with a 7 … Continue reading →
Last year all of K-netizens hated doctors in real life after the doctor strike so even medical K-dramas got delayed from premiere due to the anticipated backlash. The most high profile being Resident Playbook with Go Yoon Jung leading a cast of young stars all playing med school residents in the same medical universe as the veteran doctors from hit … Continue reading →
So it’s coming up on November and I’m starting to pay attention to what’s on deck in K-drama land for the remaining two months. The new MBC Fri-Sat drama slipped under my radar when it was announced but now that the poster and stills are coming out it may be worth a check out. When the Phone Rings starring Yoo … Continue reading →
The 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards took place this Tuesday May 7th in Seoul and it was also the 60th year of the event so a milestone for sure. There is a lot to digest so let’s get to it! Moving took home the drama side Daesang and I knew that would happen when Best Drama went to My Dearest so … Continue reading →
I didn’t follow the K-movies this year so I don’t even know if any of the winners were the right ones lol but I still love awards ceremonies for the glitz and glamor. It was the usual level of awards show dressing for the 2023 Blue Dragon Awards which fetes the best in film with plenty of A-list and rising … Continue reading →
Oh this is a great cameo and I wish both young leads from the first season would do the cameo together. Yoo Yeon Seok will be returning to the hospital with a cameo in the upcoming Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 3, reprising his role from the first season. No word on Seo Hyun Jin but I just love when both … Continue reading →
OMG, it’s been a LOOOOOONG time since I remember watching a K-drama as headdesk frustrating as this one. The Interest of Love wasn’t bad per se, it was just a story with four awful leads acting like they were emotionally blind and walking into walls and each other the entire time when everyone could just open their eyes like normal … Continue reading →
It’s the second to last week airing of The Interest of Love, with episodes 13 and 14 like expecting to watch a horror movie through hands over the eyes but with tiny slits to peek through. Thankfully it wasn’t that painful and actually had a lot of breakthroughs. Mi Kyung finally accepted how toxic her rich family was and how … Continue reading →
Watching jTBC Wed-Thurs romance drama (if you call it that) The Interest of Love has been an exercise in waiting for the ball to drop. Like, literally waiting and waiting and waiting for something to happen beyond staring, longing, passive-aggressive frustration from all four main leads, so draggy to the point I was like JUST JUMP HER! And then the … Continue reading →
I was initially just idly curious about this drama with the casting and it’s adaptation from a source novel with good reviews. But seeing the previews my interest has ratcheted it, it feels mature and restrained with some sexy sneaking through, all in the messy complication of adult attraction. jTBC is readying the next Wed-Thurs drama The Interest of Love … Continue reading →
