Okay, finally this drama catches my interest. The upcoming obligatory medical K-drama, and I say obligatory because I guarantee there will be at least one medical K-drama a year if not more, Top Medical Team is starting to get all its ducks (cast) in a row now that its predecessor drama Two Weeks is premiering soon. Leading man Kwon Sang Woo joined first and everyone is well aware that an offer was made to Lee Min Jung to be his leading lady. One wonders if she’s in the mood to toil on a K-drama so soon after her upcoming nuptials to top K-star Lee Byung Hun next month. So while Lee Min Jung noodles on that offer, today comes word of a few more castings. Joo Ji Hoon is reportedly mulling an offer to return to prime time television as he joins the cast of TMT. The story is about a hospital consisting of only the top medical professionals in their respective fields all working together. Kwon Sang Woo plays a cold on the outside and warm on the inside cardiothoracic surgeon who leads this top medical team, while Joo Ji Hoon plays his rival described as a gentle on the outside but ambitious on the inside surgeon who aims to use the top medical team as a launching pad to become the director of the entire hospital. Another actress also signed on recently – Oh Yeon Soo from He Who Rolled in Unexpectedly and Oh Ja Ryung is Coming. This drama is getting more attention for its production team consisting of the PD from The Moon Embraces the Sun and the scriptwriter of Brain. Honestly, I’m only going to check this out if Joo Ji Hoon takes the role since I’ve wanted him to take on darker roles since he did Mawang (The Devil), and because I think he’s due for a genuine comeback that isn’t in a scandal plagued makjang to the nth degree weekend drama like Five Fingers. Top Medical Team is scheduled to premiere in late October on MBC, which makes it a direct competitor to Heirs on SBS. Ha, that’ll be an interesting match up. Over at KBS, the competition will overlap with Secret scheduled for September followed by Inspiring Generation with purported lead Kim Hyun Joong.
I think Choi Ah Jin is Oh Yeon Seo’s name in the drama.
if joo ji hoon joins I will for sure be watching ill watching anything he does he is one of my favorite actors. so im guessing this means his ban from mbc was lifted even more excited about that since that means even more roles for him in the future woohoo
He was banned from KBS
Oops, sorry… I only read about KBS in 2009. Looks like MBC banned him as well.
he was banned from all 3 tv stations, sbs removed the ban first and mbc seems to have done the same.
hopefully so will kbs.
i am such a huge fan of jihoon, to me he is one of the best actors that korea has, he gives so much dept and raw emotion, plus he is able to have chemistry with a tree and is fabulous kisser.
while this means he is a second lead, which i think he never was before, it is a win for me because it means that mbc is lifting their ban on him and that makes me so happy.
I will check it out if lee Ming jung signs to act in the project
I enjoy Joo Ji-hoon quite a bit, so this news is certainly increasing my interest in Top Medical Team! It’s amazing to see how far he’s come as an actor since Goong; it’s nearly comparable to an ugly duckling transforming into a swan.
Now that got me interested as well. Who wouldn’t be now that it will be joined by my first kdrama love, JJH. I have a copy of Five Fingers but I could not start it. It’s just way too long it’s so daunting…
it seems lee min jung is out. jung ryeo won is in.
OMG!!! That’s *better* news!
Jung Ryeo Won is gonna be the lead! 🙂
I just saw that on the allkpop website. That’s awesome. i <3 her. She just seems so cool. NOW i'm excited for this drama…a little. 🙂
JJH is one of my favorite K-actors. He’s one of the few that I will start a drama (or stick with a bad one) just because he’s in it. I’m so glad he’s getting offers and finding success in dramaland again.
I’m torn..on one hand I don’t want him to take on a role that is sounding like a second lead to me on the other hand this sounds a lot more decent than the one he did before and I’m hopjng he can get some positive feedback from the public even if it is as a second lead so he can be in dramas again
Nooooo, I want him to be in a better project he’s such a better actor then KSW.
I was kind of hoping he’d stick to movies because it seems movie wise he still gets interesting projects.
Too bad about the banning, not that he’s the only actor it happened in Japan as well to Yamada Takayuki who’s banned from certain stations.
Seriously this project sounds a lot like Iryu team medical dragon that was made into a dorama that went for 3 seasons. (based on a manga)
Oh God, second lead? No!
But it’s better than never get a chance.
JJH is Confirmed !!! 😀 *squeeeeee*swoon*
Oppa is second lead? 🙁
I suspect that this, if I check it out, will hit me with full-on Second Lead Syndrome, but I do hope he makes it back to lead status soon. He was one of SK’s most interesting young actors when the drug scandal happened, and it will be a shame if his career never lives up to its early promise just because of that.
(not that there is any danger, his movie projects are interesting even if an upcoming one is blighted by the presence of Taecyeon)
Actually, I don’t like Ji hoon take second lead but i will support him. Thanks God, finally mbc lifting ban on him. I hope this is become opportunity for him to open a lot of doors in the future carrier acting.
