Newbie C-actress Shen Yue Cast as Female Lead in TW-drama Meteor Garden 2018
The new Taiwanese version of Hana Yori Dango has finalized casting of all the leads with the selection of fresh-faced young rookie C-actress Shen Yue as the female lead. Meteor Garden 2018 comes 17 years after the original Meteor Garden was a huge hit and spawned the careers of Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, and Vanness Wu. All five are household names to varying degrees and have that drama to thank, and for the keen eye of producer Angie Cai in assembling the cast. Hopefully her keen eye is still sharp because her choice of five super rookies with Shen Yue joining the new F4 male leads Kuan Hong, Dylan Wang, Wu Xi Zhe, and Liang Jing Kang is a total mystery to me beyond all five look super young and good looking. The drama is slated to start filming for a premiere in Taiwan and China sometime next year. Shen Yue is visually such a spot on casting choice for the female lead, she looks like a spunky shoujo manga heroine.

I do agree. But I think they want to make it different with the original Meteor Garden, and isn’t Meteor Garden take a place in like college? So the previous cast looks suitable more for the story. I think now the show will take a place in high school like the actual manga, Hana Yori Dango.
I think your right more high school than college …most of the versions had the actors older than they should be but the cast here looks right age wise..
She looks adorably cute with those big eyes… hope she’ll have great chemistry with the rest of the F4 casts. Looking forward to all these fresh face rookies.

Having watched the original installment, I don’t think Shen Yue has that look that leaves an impression on me like Barbie Hsu did. Shes beautiful but doesn’t have that charismatic look. I think this hong kong actress Kabby Hui fits the look more.
shen yue is very refreshing to look at in the ” A love so beautiful” drama. I ship her with her male lead there but she had good chemistry with Dylan wang too based on the pictures that come out in weibo. Looking forward for Meteor Garden 2.0
