Second Leads Lee Ji Hoon and Choi Yu Hwa Intense and Charismatic in Official New Stills for River Where the Moon Rises
The promos for River Where the Moon Rises has early on focused on the young leads Kim So Hyun and Ji Soo but a good sageuk needs the entire cast to rock and roll in order to work and I’m betting that second leads Lee Ji Hoon and Choi Yu Hwa are up to the task because holy do they look great in character. Lee Ji Hoon first caught my eye as Lee Min Ho’s maybe ok step brother who later is super duper evil turns out but he was so good at playing the entire spectrum and holding his own in a drama full of big name leads. He did the same as the mentally ill ex-boyfriend in Dinner Mate and honestly if all he does is play evil I’m fine because he’s so good at commanding the screen that I just enjoy watching him. It doesn’t hurt that he looks so fiiiiine in sageuk garb, the general battle attire and the casual gentleman wear. Second female lead Choi Yu Hwa is also catching my eye, the production made her look slightly witchy with her hair and darker outfits but she radiates confidence and I love that.

Lee Jihoon is sooo rocking this look. Same way he had in Secret Healer. I think he fits the saguek feel. He has the gravitas to carry the ancient kingly/knightly man, and command his presence over for everyone.
Also I just wannt point out, He and Park Sunghoon can play evil Psycho/sociopath as much as they want, and I'd still ask for more.

Damn, hoping I won't get Second Lead Syndrome with this one! I've always found Lee Ji Hoon so handsome, he looks like a mix of Yeon Woo Jin + Park Seo Joon to me, and such an excellent actor too! And as much as I'd love to see him in a lead role, he's just so good at being a layered baddie!
Haven't seen CYH in anything, so I can't comment on her acting, but her character seems interesting too!

I want a lead role for Lee Ji-Hoon! He's so good since School 2013, he was my favourite character with a real development. Sageuk suits him, he was good as a historian in Rookie Historian too.
I hope these second leads will have a fair share of exposure as the main leads. They are so striking.

Lee Ji Hoon indeed looks evil but he has gravitas for that. Never seen the female 2nd lead, but she looks great in the stills.
