She’s the other Squid Game actress, and actually the one who has toiled longer in the industry and absolutely deserves the breakout as well. I’m talking about Lee Yoo Mi who has over ten dramas and ten movies under her belt in either teen actress roles through supporting roles. but now has her chance to get further recognition after being part of the ensemble success of Squid Game. She’s been cast as the female lead in 2022 sports and psychology drama Mental Coach Je Gal Gil which is in talks for Jung Woo as the male lead. The drama is about a former top national athlete who no longer competes and becomes a mental health coach for the current crop of athletes dealing with their mental health issues. Jung Woo is up for the male lead and the female lead’s character is a current national level short track speed skater suffering from a competitive career low point. Uplifting sports stories can be heartwarming to watch so hopefully this one gets a strong story to go with this solid casting.
Bless Netflix for giving opportunities to young actresses to shine while the domestic industry is too busy chasing the same 8 actresses for every production.
Or giving lead roles to untalented female idols. Same goes for male actors. If it weren’t for Netflix, we wouldn’t have so many rising actors in their 20’s (Lee Yoo Mi, Song Kang, Hoyeon Jung etc). Seems like idol agencies struggle to stick their idols in those productions because I can’t think of a single Netflix show with an idol as lead or even second lead lol
Agree with Hoyeon Jung and Yoomi, but Song Kang? The guy is so bland and mediocre, there are some idols who act much better than him lol.
She looks like Chun Woo Hee
