Endorsements and Brands Start to Drop Yoo Ah In During His Drug Use Investigation and He’s Likely on the Hook for Extensive Penalties
This is so been there done that in C-ent, the moment a scandal breaks the star is dropped like a hot potato by brands AND on the hook thereafter for penalties stemming from breach of contract with the image and morality clause. You can question the fairness of such a clause but in contracts when one party pays for something its perfectly legitimate to request certain terms in return and in the case of endorsements its paying for the image of a star and said star needs to maintain it. Yoo Ah In remains under active investigation by the South Korean authorities for illegal propofol use and perhaps adding on marijuana use which remains illegal in SK even if now legal in certain other countries. In the few days since the brands are starting to drop him as their spokesperson or CF model and to date there are four that have cut ties but I’m not surprise if there will be more. He’s currently under agency UAA and no word on whether the agency may drop him as a client.

UAA is American based isn’t it? Maybe this will open the doors to a career in Hollywood for YAI. I’m up for that. Lol he didn’t hurt anyone, he just needs to help him. I’m still a fan.
It’s a domestic talent agency. It used to be under the same holding company as So Ji Sub’s 51K and Son Yejin/Lee Minjung’s MSteam agencies. I think you may be confusing it with US agencies like CAA and UTA. A career in Hollywood will not shield him from criminal prosecution in SK though.
That’s funny, being a reject in South Korea will open doors for him in Hollywood? Even Netflix is waiting for results of his drug investigation to confirm the release date of his movie with Lee Byung Hun. It may get shelved for a while depending on what the investigation uncovers. The way some YAI fans glorifying his drug scandal is pretty laughable.
Well, if you look at Korean actors in the past who been caught with drugs, they made pretty big comebacks so YAI returning in a few years isn’t a far fetched idea. Not glorifying his drug use, just don’t find it a big enough deal compared to say, killing someone, rape or illegal money use. Dude did this to himself, he should find help but that’s his business.
Once I saw him in Home Alone drinking a lot of liquid and I thought he is taking care of his body a bit too well.
After his illness, he might changed, but what about his close so called long time friends? He needs help, addiction is no joke especially if you live in the spotlight.
I hate that everyone has to be black or white, but we are all grey. We’re human after all.
Why am I not surprised by YAI’s drug cases? It’s because he’s never portrayed himself as a goody two shoes to the world. You know he’s considered a rebel in the industry. He’s always done things his way no matter what people say. I hate it most when celebrities have to keep this squeaky clean image but behind closed doors they’re wicked as hell. I’ve never felt that with YAI. In fact, I sympathize with him, any human being would feel the pressure when he has to deal with shyness as a celebrity, sexual orientation, and health problems. May he get the help he needs but the weed charges are a bit ridiculous since it didn’t happen in SK. That’s a law I wouldn’t understand or accept as a foreigner.
I never liked him. He has such an unpleasant and slippery energy.
Good for you. I otoh adore him because of his Energy. He‘s a fantastic actor and artist. He delivered some of the best work I have seen coming from his country. Smoking weed, doing propofol and becoming an outcast in alcoholic SK is almost funny though. Would he confess to drinking daily the society would be ok. Ridiculous!
