The Prisoner of Beauty with Song Zu Er and Liu Yu Ning Not Banned by Authorities But Streaming Platforms Wary of Airing Due to Potential Viewer Blowback

So the latest news on period C-drama The Prisoner of Beauty with Song Zu Er and Liu Yu Ning is that it may still air. After Song Zu Er’s tax scandal, the government authorities have not banned her either outright or softly, but it’s the entertainment platforms and production companies that don’t want to touch her right now. The Prisoner of Beauty got its airing permit before her scandal and it has not been rescinded, so it can air at anytime. But the streaming platforms are leery of airing it due to viewer and netizen negative reaction and complaint. But with Liu Yu Ning’s bump up heat index thanks to A Journey to Love, the platforms are wondering if viewers will tune in for him and kinda overlook Song Zu Er’s scandal especially with her laying low and going MIA since. Industry chatter says the platforms are watching the situation and if it feels the drama can air with okay reception and recoup the costs it may do so with a sudden release in the coming months.

  1. It not happening, unless they have strong evidence that she is not going to be implicated then they might air drop it, because when they do n she turns out to be guilty, tencent is going to have issues with the authorities, that why they wait for the final statement from the tax investigators before they make their next move. N knowing c neitzen, it doesn’t matter whether LYN is doing well with AJTL, they will question why the other previous actors who caught themselves on tax invasion scandal, didn’t get their show release during investigation also. This is just fans wishful thinking that the show will be release soon just because it has pass censorship, they forget that it need to pass another censorship, which is the Song Zuher tax invasion. Seeing how crystal yuan and the others cases has been handled, the final statement is important before they take any decision. Until done we wait, at least that is the knowledge I have gotten from other sources so far.

  2. Please just air it… Song Zu-er is just a interesting actress. I really wish to watch her in this drama. This can work magic on dramas, even if the script is not great. If she is not truly cancelled by GOV, it must says alot…doesn’t it?

  3. I agree with everyone. Just drop all the episode and get it over with instead of being shelved and never see the light of day. Finger crossed, it’ll air next month. LYN is doing a fantastic job in A journey to love. This is one of the Chinese drama that I’m anticipated to watch for both leads since the trailer came out.

  4. Was this supposed to air before A Journey to Love?

I feel his character in AJTL resonates well with the audience, for what it’s worth. It makes a great first impression for his leading roles because his NYZ is smart, likable, and understanding.

They should release this drama so we can watch it. Haha Piggyback on the success of AJTL while the people loving the drama can’t get enough of LYN.

  5. Where are people getting their misinformation from?

TPOB just finished filming May 15 this year.

What airing permit when post production of the drama hasn’t even finished?

And with SZE’s “scandal” that was reported on Aug 31st, if post production has stopped since then, that means they’ve only had 3 and a half months of post production done.

Even if SZE’s dramas get the green light to air, TPOB would only air mid 2024 the earliest if they continue the post production right now

  6. OMGAH PLEASE!!!! He’s on fire right now and would rake in the $$$, and she’s such a talented actress, are people really ready to let her go? Lol. SIGH. I hope this miraculously turns out to be true!! 🥹🙏!!

  7. People commenting here ought to learn a thing or two first before typing. You can “just drop” anything in China. You need to pass the review first and this drama hasn’t. So regardless of her issues, it can’t be broadcast.

    • I’m pretty sure most people here know cdramas have to go through review first. No one needs to “learn a thing or two” about that. According to this post it has passed review and can be broadcasted any time. People are just commenting based on information that’s shared here.

      • Then it has nothing to do with people who comment on this site needing to learn a thing or two. Your gripe should be the post has inaccurate information. Not everyone is going to go search whether what Koala posts is true or not. It’s just trivial entertainment news that people read for fun.

    • Why do we need to know anything about the show’s progress before typing? We read entertainment news to get news. Many do not have have time as yourself to have more knowledge then others. We do all have things we are busy with.

You can share what you know, you need not insult those that do not know more gossips then you.
