Lee Se Young and Na In Woo Confirmed for Countryside Hometown Romance K-drama Motel California — 22 Comments

  1. LSY has done but rom coms since Red Sleeve and this is yet another. The fourth in succession I think. Unsure if she just isn’t getting the offers, or she’s on her way to becoming another PMY but I really hope not. She’s a good actress but needs some diversification. NIW is always a miss for me.

    • Park Minyoung has only done 3 romcoms (wwwsk, hpl and lic) the rest (which are A lot) ranges from historical (qf7d and sungkyunkwan scandal), action/thriller (city hunter and healer), healing/slice of life drama (when the weather is fine, flaw), revenge/thriller/law/fantasy (marry my husband, remember war of the son, a new leaf)

    • Park Min Young has only done 3 romcoms fyi. The rest of her dramas ranges from revenge, thriller, action, historical, slice of life, healing, law, fantasy.

  3. I dont really know her work but he is SO BLAND! His expressions are either exaggerated or non-existent, so it seems like he’s always out of rhythm on screen. And he’s handsome but not remarkable, apart from his height he’s not memorable

  4. LSY hasn’t impressed me since the Red Sleeves. NIW is barely serviceable in Marry My Husband. Besides, I don’t appreciate rom coms that much if this is another one.

Not much interesting news for Kdrama recently while C drama has delivered one of the best products.

    • If you don’t mean The Double I can’t think of any production other than To The Wonder so far. China’s bar has never been high in entertainment anyway.

      • I was referring to the Double. More than one person has mentioned To the Wonder. Is it that good?

      • I don’t know if it’s enough argument, but To the Wonder was included in Cannes Series Festival. I personally enjoyed it from start to finish, and I think it’s a good breakthrough in Chinese productions.

      • @Somebody

To The Wonder is VERY good. I highly recommend it, it’s more like an 8-part movie than a drama. So at least give it a try. The cinematography is excellent and the plot realistic.

      • To the Wonder a melo or rom com? @HL, you might have known I’m not so much for these two genres.

@Xoxo, you may be the nth fan recommending this film. LOL. I’ll check it out. The Double gives me some faith in C dramas again. So, I may not waste time checking out more dramas. LOL.

  5. Not sure why lee se young stays choosing all these romcoms and dramas of late that just aren’t interesting. She’s a good actress, has the looks and range but stays picking Mid scripts.

Na in woo is absolutely terrible in everything I’ve seen him in starting with mr queen. Bland, expressionless with no charisma. How is he getting cast as male lead all the time when kent has so many talented 90s born actors?

  6. NIW had no charisma on screen, he’s just standing…

Lee Se-Young deserves a better actor!

I’m excited for her drama with Kentaro Sakaguchi!

  7. Agree about the comment about her recent choices, it’s all been romance she needs to go back to thriller or even slice of life, kairos is still her best role imo. Also the leading men she’s been pairing with especially her recent one is such a meh actor.

  8. Na In Woo has negative charisma. He was wooden stick in Marry My Husband, to the point where it became annoying whenever he appeared on screen.

  9. Na In-woo is just very lucky. He was dreadful in Mr Queen but got to replace Ji Soo as a lead after the latter had his bullying scandal break out. He hasn’t improved a smidge since but continues to get roles after roles. His agency must be good.

As for Lee Se-young, I would not go as far as saying she “deserves better” – she chose to work with him after all…

  10. NIW may be not the best actor but i like his stare . There are a lot of actors who aren’t all that and still getting roles, why not him ?

    • Same thoughts. We’re apparently in the minority lol. I found him endearing in River Where the Moon Rises and he’s okay in the other dramas I’ve seen him in. Not great, but not terrible either
