A New Return of the Condor Heroes C-drama Adaptation Scheduled with Leads Chen Mu Chi and Lu Yu Xiao

I’ve been tapped out of the adaptations of famous Louis Cha (Jin Yong) wuxia novels for beyond the last decade. The last ones I watched were the Hu Ge and Ariel Lin led Legend of the Condor Heroes and the Huang Xiaoming and Crystal Liu version of Return of the Condor Heroes. I grew up on the TVB 80’s versions which remain near and dear to my heart and the 90’s ones were also very good, and honestly how many times can one watch the same story told over and over again. There is currently a Legend adaptation on air called The Legend of Heroes so it’s no surprise to hear a new version of Romance is also coming. The new Romance of the Condor Heroes is in talks with Chen Mu Chi as Yang Guo and Lu Yu Xiao as Xiaolongnu, the former seems way to beefy and brawny to be Yang Guo in my mind and Lu Yu Xiao seems so much younger than him to play his older gugu/love interest.

  2. Wasn’t there supposed to be one with Mao Xiaohui as Xiao Longnv? Please no more. They remake these Jinyong adaptions too often.

Even with this rumored casting, I still think HXM is the most oily and oldest Yang Guo.

Gotta agree with you. HXM acted well but his looks and vibes didn’t fit the part of Yang Guo…

Mao XiaoHui is being promoted as a top beauty resembling Crystal Liu but visually, she didn’t seem to surpass JuJingyi in the recent Sword and Fairy. Maybe it’s the make up etc.

Lu Yu Xiao has the same sweet innocent look like Crystal Liu as Xiao Long Nu ….

Chen Mu Chi as the young, pure and faithful Yang Guo??? I thought he had three scandalous news recently…. Hmm maybe netizens are forgetful and forgiving…

  3. I want to see a remake of Fung Wan (Wind and Cloud) with today’s CGI it could b awesome. I remember I really liked the movie version with Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng. But didn’t watch the Taiwanese drama version because the production aesthetics looked a bit cheap.

  4. How many more ROCH remakes do we need? Yes.

Seriously how many more times are we going to see the same story and characters reenacted again and again before the industry decides enough is enough? I wonder if anyone is even looking forward to it outside the chosen actor fandom. I vividly remember Michelle Chen being cast as Xiaolongnu and the brouhaha it brought along. That was too recent and too much of a failure of the story to be resurrected… again.

  5. Yeah another flop incoming.

They should just look at the massive flop that Tencent experienced this summer and simply – not do this at all.

  6. Neither of them visually match the characters tbvh l but I am optimistic about the production anyway. I watched the Hu Ge version with my gramma as a child and have very fond memories of it. I also saw HXM version of Return tho oddly cannot recall much of it.

  7. Again? Is there a law that they have to remake this at least once every 10 years or something?

I have no doubts about Lu Yu Xiao. She is a rapidly rising star. Beautiful, great actress and very convincing martial artist if you have watched ‘My Journey to You’.

I know nothing about the guy. Doesn’t seem like he is popular from the comments here so seems like a random choice.
