Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon in Talks for K-drama Petty Romance — 24 Comments

  1. Big 👎🏻 for me. I personally will be passing on this one despite the fact that I think she’s a phenomenal actress. The age difference is 15 years but he looks like he could be her dad in this picture.

  2. LJJ saw his bestfriend in an age gap romance so he also cast himself in one and got an even younger co-star from among their agency’s actress line up. Kidding aside the PD and writer are quite good.

  3. I haven’t seen lee jungjae in romance so a bit curious how it will do. As for lim jiyeon, she is suitable for romance from what I’ve seen in drama high society. Hope it’s gonna be good

  4. These old men hate to act opposite women their actual age. The 18 year age gap is gross. There are so many very talented, beautiful actresses in their 40s and 50s who would make great leading ladies here. Im Ji Yeon is only 34! LJJ isn’t even a well-preserved middle-aged man. He is about to turn 52 and looks even older

I wonder how much choice Im Ji Yeon even had since he owns her agency so she can hardly say no if she would rather not have an onscreen romance with her boss who is old enough to be her father🤮

    • Gosh, why are you trying hard to make him look like a pervert and Lim Ji Yeon as his victim?? There are a lot of dramas with reverse age gap, I’m sure you know it. Noona romance is well known genre in Korea, the biggest age gap was 26 years in noona romance, and yet you acting like it’s only men thing in Korea, filming with actresses younger than them.
I really can’t understand why people can’t criticise actors for professional things, instead you decide to speculate about their personalities and “how much choice LJY has”. As if you know both of them. There a lot of actresses and actors with age gaps filmed together without one of them being more powerful than other. As being in his agency means being in hostage and he’s some kind of evil man with devil plan.
His girlfriend is 45 yo and she’s one of the most powerful and rich women in Korea, if you think about him as about pathetic man loving way younger and less powerful women. Not to say you talking like that not because of some personal information about him, but just because of the casting news.
And some of drama couples with big age gaps managed to look good together and “not gross”.
Lee Jae Wook did it with Lee Da Hee in WWW drama, when he was 19 yo, and she was 34 yo. Very big age gap, and yet they made second lead couple syndrome and were pretty popular.
Pairings not about age gaps, this is about script, chemistry and acting skills.
Don’t bring your personal opinion about age gaps to call others “gross” and perverts.

  5. It’s hard for me to imagine them as a couple, but their age gap and acting skills even makes me wonder how their pairing will look.
Writer and PD look promising and I love comedies. “Typecast detective actor” character also look interesting, so I’m anticipating to that drama.

  6. i would love to see her reunited with PHS, cuz they were so good in High Society. They were the only reason I watched the whole drama. The leads were annoying.

  7. This is so gross! I agree that he looks more like her dad. Who was able to thought of such pairing goes beyond me? Ugh…and a romcom at that

  8. The age gap is giving me ick. Also, LJJ is kinda shady, so double ick. Sorry, LJY, I love you as an actress, but I’m going to have to skip this one.

  9. Ugh, again people here turn on drama queen because of age gaps. How long are you going babysit actors? She’s 34 yo, this is not a grooming in any way you can imagine, to call it a gross.
If they will date in a drama, it will be due to character’s own will, not because her character was seduced or forced in such romance.
I’m pretty sure you know other dramas with big age gaps, and that some of this couples managed to look good together despite age gaps controversies. There are even Han So Hee and Park Hee Soon example in My name. They didn’t have romance plotline, they were 26 yo and 50 yo actors, and yet managed to look so good together, to bring such chemistry, deep and history, they made popular second male lead syndrome, despite Ahn Bo Hyun being pretty good male lead. Pairings not about age gaps, this is about how writer will write these characters, how actors will play it and what kind of chemistry they will portray together. There are examples of that, I named two of them here.
And still every time, on every casting news, acting all surprised and shocked.

    • not sure why your so riled up about some internet strangers opinions on age gaps. hope you know people are allowed to have different opinions and values than you. she’s my sis’ age and my parents had her when they were 19. he’s basically my dad’s age. not everybody wants to watch a drama where the female lead is dating someone that looks like their dad.

      • I agree. She’s near my age so I can’t imagine dating a 50 yr old. Nvm their age gap, he can still easily pass as her dad just on visuals. I don’t mind someone like Hyun Bin, Gong Yoo or anyone in their 40s because they are older, but still good looking. Lee Jung Jae is a bit too much and he looks his age.

      • @Geez lol I noticed that that Olesya person is always angry whenever someone expresses a feminist-leaning opinion here or when people here express their opinions against patriarchal BS like the entertainment industry always pairing a much younger woman with a much older man. Not sure why that is. Judging by her name, she’s probably some anti-feminist from some country in East Europe where gender norms still reign supreme, that’s why she’s so offended lol.

Also, she brought up examples where the man is younger than the woman, as if those pairings don’t also receive backlash lmao. Has she seen the comments sections here whenever a noona drama is announced?

      • @Gourmand
I even went to read my comments till Jule to find where I was angry at feminist opinion. Didn’t find a one, please share

    • @Gourmand
If you talking about me under my comment, you could write it directly to me.
But after your nazi opinion about East Europe I don’t even know what to say. Did you even were in East Europe? You probably think we living in a cave and obsessed with men. You calling me anti-feminist and at the same time downgrading millions of women from East Europe, what a joke.
You asking if I see comments about noona romances. Guess what? I wrote positive comments under noona romance dramas as well. This and the previous article with age gaps were the last straw. Under the previous article I stood up for female actress because people talked about her as “she got role because she’s an idol, CJH need to work with older and better actress”. You noticed that only when discussion become about male lead just so you could call me an anti-feminist, huh?
Which else of my opinions you saw as “anti-feminist”? I never badmouthed any woman here, the same as a man. I never downgraded any of them by the gender, because my opinion not related to gender at the first place. When I see articles and comments I don’t divide people on a “man” and a “woman”, I see celebrities as a people. And I stood up for celebrities of both genders here. But I often, very often see as people like you obsessed with gender, and you think I think the same way and support some of the side. If I wrote something in defense of a man, when I product of patriarchy, because by your way of thinking no one can stood up for a man and being a normal person at the same time. And when I stood up for a woman you didn’t notice that. You noticed only when I stood up for a man, and his gender is enough reason for you to call me a names.
If this is were casting news about 50 yo woman and 34 yo man, if people would left comments “gross”, “disgusting”, “how much choice did he had”, I would criticise it and wrote the same comments. I guess for you it’s hard to understand.

  10. Almost the same age gap as Kim Taeri and Lee Byunghun in Mr Sunshine. Idk I guess this is less disturbing (for lack of a better term) because Lim Jiyeon is a bit older now than Taeri was back then. Maybe it’s gonna come down to how well the writing can sell them as a couple because visuals-wise the age gap it’s hard not to look at them together and think it’s a middle age man going through a midlife crisis by dating someone who is almost 20 yrs younger. Like it or not, Lee Jungjae is almost 52 and looks his age.

  11. Me as an Asian, I personally think she looks older than her age, and I DO NOT CARE FOR AGE but sorry chemistry looks best when BOTH PPL LOOK THE SAME AGE REGARDLESS OF THEIR ACTUAL REAL AGE. IN THIS CASE, they look like daughter and father so it’s gross. This is the same issue I had when I watched “Goblin” as beautiful as the story was, I felt it uncomfortable and got the ick shivers. It’s not normal and paints a picture like they are from unhealthy trauma upbringing. Obviously no one should bash the actual actors and actresses from taking these roles though. I also want to point out another example with “Alchemy of Souls” when the main girl is 10 yrs older then the male lead, but it works because they actually look the same age.
