Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei’s Appearance at Tencent Drama Promos for Chasing Jade Garner More Chatter for Their Lack of CP Vibes and Interaction
Viewers have eyes and we can see onscreen and offscreen star chemistry (or lack thereof) clear as day. So from the first trailer released of Tencent period romance C-drama Chasing Jade with Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei last month it’s clear the leads have loads of chemistry in character. But this week as the two attended a Tencent star studded drama promo festival event, along with lots of big name stars promoting their various other Tencent dramas, it was clear these two could not be less into each other. Netizens noted the bitchy face on Tian Xi Wei and the big gap between them at times, big enough to squeeze in another person or two. For two leads playing a CP onscreen the promo was to drum up interest and even playacting being cozy and warm with each other, at a minimum, much less fake romancing, is basically part of the job. The two fandoms apparently hate each other due to the billing order jostling that happened before filming started and it’s clear that the frostiness remains.
They acted like a couple who has got broken up. Lol.
Tian xiwei had good cp moments with dylan. Linghe also had fun at his cp moments with his co stars.
What happened in here?
I wonder what happened too. I saw the clips…both were distance. But short clips and photos may not mean anything unless the whole promo was like that. I am not Tian Xiwei’s fan thus will likely give this drama a miss. Her acting just dont hit any spot with me.

I read the translated novel. Although I didn’t finish it but I find it very entertaining. You might like it. I’d say both of them do fit the characters. S😄

I seemed to recall reading that Tian Xi Wei also had problems filming with Joseph Zeng. But Joseph got along very well with Ju Jingyi…

Tian Xiwei and Joseph are actually good friends. There were even moments when they were seen taking photos together during an awards night and backstage. And they even posted it in their accounts. They were also playing rock-paper-scissors when they were on stage when they received an award because no one wanted to go and speak first. I dont know where you’re getting it, but please stop spreading baseless rumors.

Isn’t the whole point for their chemistry to be the acting shown in the actual drama. I get it helps to channel that in their promotions but how are we to know for sure they had bad vibes or not? Maybe just maybe they only see each other as colleagues and were not in the mood to please the masses that day. Like business but no pleasure involved.
So who actually ended up with the top billing? TXW seems to be very cheerful & have sunny personality so I’m surprised seeing these pics.

Read the English translation of the novel and it was really good. Based on experience, when it comes to screen adaptation though, most are done so bad that you’ll not recognize the original plot. Most of the time I drop the drama after watching one or two episodes if it totally change the plot. That’s why Prisoner of Beauty is a hit since at least it was faithful to the novel’s main plot.
I’m not into RPS so I’m good as long as their romance in the drama is believable.
I really wanted to know what the … happened because Ive been following TXW for quite long time never saw her like this before. Its almost too showing something happened.
I dont know much about ZLH although I liked watching some of his characters in costume dramas.
I remember seeing vids from filming of this serie and I liked their energy in those short vids. It makes me more interested in knowing what really happened at that night lol
Off course she feels this way. Zhang Linghe’s team & fandom bullied her SO bad! It was one of the most messy billing fights in C-ent!
Cnetz on Weibo were all saying it already made them not wanna watch the drama & this all before filming even began.
This story is actually a female centric! TXW was undoubtedly 1st billing. ZLH’s fandom initially had a MELTDOWN not wanting him to take on this drama. They said he should do male centrics & that the director sucked lol.
But then Blossom (same director) blew up. So then they suddenly wanted him to take the drama but be 1st billing and have more scenes added.
The fights got SO nasty. TXW was harassed so everyday. She then was willing to go for equal billing.
Guess what? ZLH’s team announced everywhere he was the 1st billing! (So it wasn’t just his fandom. His own damn staff did as well). In the end they managed to do equal ONLY because her team stepped back😔
A woman who was on the rise in the business and minding her own business was overpowered like this. I feel so bad for her!
Then during filming the relentless rumors and attacks on TXW didn’t stop. She had to release statements and sue his fans multiple times. Even on set, from reuters, these two were NEVER close.
How can they be? Poor TXW. And if it isn’t enough now his fans are STILL spreading lies everywhere and being misogynistic to her (even here in this comment section. Shame on you!)

For real, I really felt bad with how mistreated Tian Xiwei was by Zhang Linghe’s fans. Someone posted a middle finger with her picture in the background. That was so nasty, I’d be livid if I were her. His fans were like just waiting for her to make a mistake and when she missed one filming day bcos of another commitment, they were berating her as if it was her fault that production rescheduled a scene. They were angry that Linghe had to act with a ‘double’. I dont have animosity towards Linghe but his fans are extremely crazy. Fans should know how to respect their work and choices. It’s not their life to begin with.
One thing I dont agree is that they’re not close. I honestly think they are lowkey friends, they’ve already been acquainted way before the filming started. Been following some of their reuters during film and I definitely see them talking and laughing naturally. Tho sometimes I see Tian Xiwei being cautious in her surroundings unlike from her previous male leads that she was carefree and doing funny things with them. I felt like she doesnt want to fuel more fire with how she acts towards Linghe so she’s definitely keeping distance enough to do her job and enough to keep the fans at bay.
I’d say, Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei are actually doing good professionally. 2026 is still far off, they still have plenty of time to do promotions when the time comes. I just hope people can stop overanalyzing things. They also have other upcoming films that are almost airing, I honestly think it’s good move to not overhype their chemistry/pairing at the moment so fans can focus on Moonlit Reunion and Our Generations.
If this is true.. man that bites. Hopefully the drama does well and she can move on to greener pastures. This might make him finding potential female leads want to stick with him if they continue with their noses to the sky like that. Sounds completely obnoxious.
