Prolific Korean Movie and Drama Character Actor Song Young Kyu Passes Away at 55 Years Old
What a sad news to come out of K-ent to start this week. Veteran actor Song Young Kyu has passed away, he was found deceased in a vehicle parked in a residence and he was only 55-years old. The actor has nearly twenty movies under his belt and over three dozen dramas, always playing various character actors as support or villain. Even if viewers don’t know his name his face will be very familiar and recognizable to any frequent Korean movie and drama watcher. Two months ago Song Young Kyu was pulled over for drunk driving and had to leave a theater performance project scheduled for this summer. The police see no signs of foul play so most likely this is a self harm episode likely brought on by the shame and societal pressure of his recent brush with the law, and this is sadly a situation seen before in K-ent. Rest in peace to this very talented ahjusshi.
Yup! He face looks familiar. Sad! Unhelpful public shaming never goes away in K-ent and C-ent.
That is sad. There are sudden deaths from heart attacks etc (particularly in recent years in those that I don’t consider “old”) so I don’t like to assume self-harm in the first instance.

Over drunk driving? I feel it is so trivial but knowing the moral backlash… so manu suicides but yet whats being done about mental health? Seems like nothing. I dont get it. Surely he could have survived this one bump? I dont know his name but I recognise his face.
