Shin Hye Sun and Na In Woo in Talks for Soul Swapping Modern K-drama One Hour of Romance Adapted From Webtoon
I said already the soul swapping drama genre seems to be making a comeback and now we see another one in the planning. The webtoon One Hour of Romance (1/24 of Romance) will be getting a K-drama adaption and the leads in talks are Shin Hye Sun and Na In Woo. Shin Hye Sun is basically actress putty she can do anything and has definitely excelled already at the different soul in another body set up in Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen). But this time the two leads swap souls for an hour a day so that’s a new take, and of course they come from wholly different circumstances and carrying their own emotional baggage. Na In Woo has a reputation of being one note and limited in his acting so this may be a stretch but hey if he’s cast I’m still gonna watch for Shin Hye Sun.

So, after psychotic antiheroine trend, here comes soul swapping trend? LOL. Not a fan of either concept.
As much as I agree SHS is a good actress, I’ve never liked any of her dramas so far, unfortunately. Sometimes she exude eccentric vibes that I don’t consider entertaining. As to NIW, he’s completely outperformed by the 2nd ML in Marry My Husband. Lee Yi Kyung stole the spotlight in MMH. LOL.
I groaned when I saw the leading man. NIW? He’s such a bland actor and they had absolutely zero chemistry in Mr. Queen. Granted, their characters weren’t meant to end up together anyway, but still. Maybe I’ll check it out for SHS, but will drop it if NIW shows his bleah acting again.
I never finished the webtoon, but remember reading it and liking it. As much as I love SHS and don’t hate NIW, I don’t see them as the characters. I think SHS can make it work. But the ML needs to be have golden retriever himbo energy. Kim Ji-hoon. If less high profile, I would pick Kim Min-kyu from Business Proposal. If they had gone with an older guy, Kim Ji-hooon. I think even
Ahn Bo-hyun, SHS’s previous co-star would work better here. He felt miscast in See You in my 19th Life.
Tbh I don’t think whoever you mentioned fits the character either. Firstly, this is a noona romance where the FL is the ML’s boss, so KJH and ABH already don’t fit. The ML is a sporty hunk with perfect looks, is very tall and muscular (that means VERY tall since SHS is already tall), looks kind and friendly but clumsy / a little dumb. Personally, such an actor doesn’t really exist lmao. At least NIW fits some of these criteria.
The whole ‘himbo’ nonsense is ridiculous and degrading. Imagine presenting a female lead being ‘a little dumb’ as a good thing.
Looks like another one to skip
@Rina No need to imagine, it’s been done to actresses since the dawn of Hollywood, from Marilyn Monroe to Megan Fox in Transformers. Please stop acting like men are some sort of victims lmao. Trust me they don’t need you to defend them
@Rina Well, not every lead character needs to be intelligent. (Mild spoilers) In this case the ML is an entry level employee and got the job due to pure luck, he is incompetent and inexperienced but hardworking. His “dumbness” was not presented as a good thing as the FL was very turned off by him at the start. He would eventually improve, and there is character growth.
Oh I didn’t know this manhwa was being adapted. The manhwa was a trope/cliche fest that was done well, it was pretty funny and a rare romance with good communication and mutual respect between the leads. NIW definitely doesn’t match SHS’s level but at the same time I think his energy does match the character.
they should just call Kim Junghyun once again cuz Mr Queen is so phenomenal. Such a waste for SHS cuz she’s so good.
Love Shin Hye Sun, she always delivers! As for Na In Woo, yeah he’s not the best actor out there, but I think there’s something calming and comforting about his presence on the screen. No wonder he’s often cast as the female leads’ “rock” and someone they can rely on, like in River Where the Moon Rises and Marry My Husband. Personally, I like him tho his acting definitely needs improvement lol
