Mystery Hunting Modern C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land with Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Xing Xu Released by Tencent
So my brain was clearly still addled by the after effects of watching too much Love and Crown because I missed the premiere last weekend of Tencent C-drama Love on the Turquoise Land. Starring Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Xing Xu, this is a modern drama that seems like a tomb raider crossed with Chinese ancient mystery plot, with a side of strong push-and-pull tension between the leads. For a Dilraba drama I didn’t see the usual large amounts of promotion before this aired but if the drama is good it will pick up steam due to her popularity and fandom. So far the reviews say its a slow burn story telling and isn’t one of those dramas that hook you right from the start. I normally find Chen Xing Xu unattractive to me but here he actually looks way better looking than usual, and I think the two have strong chemistry based on the initial feedback which is a relief.

Chen Xingxu’s visuals matches with Dilraba very well. I’ve watched a few episodes and I would say the plot pacing is a little too slow for my liking, but I will still continue to watch though it will be lower priority on my Currently Watching C-drama list. The author of the original novel is 尾鱼, who also penned the novels for dramas like Rattan and Parallel World.
My current top priority C-drama is Chen Xiao’s Legend of the Magnate, its story pacing is pretty tight and I also find the part where the drama lightly portrays the backstory to Mongolians later splitting into Mongolia and Inner Mongolia interesting.
They both looks good together. I hope drama is nice..
It’s a creepy, slow story. Lol. My friend was excited for it, and my other friend and I were like blehhhh since we’re not fans of the leads, and turns out, because I didn’t know the novel, the title is strangely deceiving because it’s a weird story. Lol. But I was curious enough to pop in and out of the episodes.
I was drawn to the mysterious nature of the drama but quickly dropped it after ep1 without 2nd thought. As expected for most of the C dramas, slow pace dragged the story that it became underwhelming and a snoozefest. I lost curiosity in my doze off LOL. All I can recall from ep1 is just gory, zombie-like, and very unpleasant chaos. Reba also looked fake as a sculptor exploring relics and antient art. It’s a pity the synopsis is more interesting than the drama itself. LOL.
I have read the book, that started out strong but became annoying slow trash at the second half. I think the drama did a better job in terms of cutting off some unnecessary scenes, I hope the script writers did a better job on the second half of the story by cutting back some annoyingly slow stuff. If you like a strong female lead who is equal to the male lead watch this drama. It is more of a horror story than the usual fluffy drama.
