First Look at Park Min Young and Wi Ha Joon in K-drama Siren Remake of Thriller Classic J-dorama

I feel like Park Min Young has so many remakes associated with Japan. She’s either been in K-drama remakes of J-doramas the most recent being Confidence Queen or her dramas have been remade in Japan such as Marry My Husband or her drama is simply insanely popular in Japan like What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim. That’s great for her and she’s continuing that trend with her next drama the tvN series Siren (or Siren’s Kiss) which is a remake of a classic thriller J-dorama Koori no Sekai (Ice World) from 1999. The first stills are out of her and male lead Wi Ha Joon, she’s a suspected femme fatale type and he’s the insurance investigator hot on her heels. The drama is tentatively slated for April 2026 release.

I agree PMY doesn’t have the screen presence of the queen of J-drama. Nonetheless, this script is interesting, and thriller is my genre. I used to enjoy several of PMY’s works. She has eyes for good scripts and good directing. I’m looking forward to this one too.

Koori No Sekai ? I don’t know how I feel about it. This is literally one of my favourite dramas around : technically not perfect but the emotions and that music worked perfectly for me. I am indifferent to PMY but I wished they picked a more magnetic actress for the role of Matsushima Nanako. And I have yet to feel appealed by a Korean remake of a Jdrama.

Healer, again, it was well done and Ji Chang Wook wowed, her not so much. Thought she was good in Marry My Husband.

Haven’t seen the Japanese original of this but I will, now – I loved Great Teacher Onizuka, so funny, so not pc, with her and her not too long after husband. Also used to like the main actor in Ice World – Takenouchi Yutaka, he was really good looking, back then, especially in Beach Boys – with Matsushima Nanako’s husband. So yes, I’ll seek the J version out, and rewatch some of Beach Boys, again.

Not sure I’ll watch this remake, though.
