Lee Chae Min Considering New K-drama My Reason to Die Adapted From Webtoon
The follow up project after a breakout hit for any star is always interesting news and comes with heightened scrutiny. With great power comes greater responsibility lol. K-actor Lee Chae Min ended last year on a career high thanks to K-drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty (The Tyrant’s Chef) which was one of the biggest hits of 2025. Now he’s in talks for his first K-drama since that series aired and it’s another webtoon adaptation, this one titled My Reason to Die (Why I Choose to Die). While the title sounds ominous his character is actually a high school senior trying out for the national taekwondo team and is a romance sports drama. Okay, who is getting Twenty Five, Twenty One flashbacks lol, which I’m sure is still traumatizing for the fans of that drama. Anyhoo, Lee Chae Min for me is one of those good but not yet great actors and I hope his last drama performance doesn’t turn out to be the outlier and he can build on that momentum and improvement.
He is among few younger actors that have strong presence regardless of the roles. He was a supporting antagonist in the messy chaotic gimmicky clownish showy boring Kdrama version of forged Avenger, Netflix series Cashero. As much as I adore the ML Junho as an idol and an actor, LCM’s presence stole the thunder from Junho in Cashero IMO. It’s talent, and I look forward to seeing him showing off such talent as a leading man instead.
Such a tragic story, btw. (That last chapter, though, heart-breaking).
Hope they ace the female lead. Because this is one of those popular manhwa I hope to see adapted well.
