K-ent Murmuring that Disney+ is Gearing Up to Release Knock Off with Kim Soo Hyun Sometime in 2026 After Being Shelved for a Year
So this is not the news I was hoping to hear, I was ready for this drama to be shelved for a lot longer. At least until Kim Soo Hyun‘s scandal has more definitive resolution, right now it’s just him denying the allegations that he dated then underaged Kim Sae Ron who later committed suicide after her own career downfall. Her family continues to stick with their story and allegations, his side has sued back, and his side is also battling lawsuits with various brands who have sued for breach of contract. Disney+ was on the cusp of releasing his drama Knock Off when the scandal exploded last February 2025 and now the platform is rumored to be considering the release of this drama sometime this year. The reason is how much money sunk into it and hoping to recoup it, but it’s highly unlikely it will be promoted since Kim Soo Hyun remains still cancelled in K-ent. It’ll be interesting to see if this rumor comes true later this year.

of course Disney will release, they are only about money…and they need the cash.
I hope it flops once it is released. Don’t care for any KSH glazers that will come defending him either. Go argue with yo mommas.
His career won’t get any boost but if I have invested millions in project, I want my money back and can’t ruin for one person
Even if it gets released, I won’t watch it. I’m tired of seeing repeated scandals involving powerful men where accountability feels uncertain. From #MeToo to Epstein to recent European abuse cases like Gisèle Pelicot (and disturbing cases discussed here in Germany) it often feels like meaningful change is very slow, and calling out misconduct still gets dismissed as “misandry.” Frustrating.
I’m really looking forward to Kim Soo Hyun’s return.. But even more so I’m looking forward to a fair trial!

If Koreans welcomes him with open arms, then they’re even more trash than I thought. But from what I’ve been reading in Korean forums, they’re not happy with his return either, so that’s a good thing. Like… really, in the light of the Epstein files being released, this mf really has the audacity to return? Fck him and his deranged male-centered, oppa-obsessed supporters
I feel like because the Epstein files were released and there have been relatively few consequences for those involved (at least, at the moment), this may actually be the perfect time for Disney to release it and recoup some money. Putting him beside the Epstein perpetrators may even make him look less bad in comparison.
I don’t think the korean industry will welcome him back with open arms, especially given that Kim Sae-ron was his victim. He may just go to other countries and leech off his deluded fans there.
I happened to come across a report that analyzed Cha Eun Woo’s tax scandal per lawyers’ discussions and perspectives, claiming that the damage to CEW’s reputation and status is irreparable. If legal professionals consider CEW’s case irreparable to his career, what about KSH’s scandal that warrants more concerns of ethical issues?
Perhaps, Disney+ is betting on the international community in which either audience have no idea of what’d happened to the leading man of the drama or just don’t care much even they do. After Kpop sensation and the breakout hits of Parasite as well as Squid Game, now we can add Kpop Demon Hunters to the popular K-contents to attract global fans. From standpoints of running businesses, I don’t think Disney+ or Netflix would think about shelving KSH’s or CEW’s dramas as an option. On one hand, they might delay premiere away from media spotlight on the scandals. On the other hand, the companies will find the best timing to release the products as soon as possible, surely before their stars got indicted.
It all makes sense to me Disney+ will be releasing KO (no pun intended lol) in the near future, and Netflix is also said to premiere CEW’s the Wonderfools in Q2 2026.
I don’t think the impact on his career is on a grand scale considering that Taxpayers’ Union has filed a complaint against the reporter who reported the tax notice that was issued to him. In addition, in South Korea’s popular entertainment communities (for dramas and K-pop) there was a relatively neutral response to his controversy. Where he was criticized was in general forums related to South Korea (as a nation).
Disney has already shot down this news releasing the drama and already saying their stance is still the same.
