C-ent Controversy Over Whether Dylan Wang Got Bullied on Variety Show The Inn, Why Shen Yue Apologized, and the Boomerang Effect of Publicly Airing Feelings
So this is a fast arriving and even faster brewing controversy that in 24 hours has already done an entire loop as to who is right, who is wrong, and who did what. This weekend an ending episode of variety show The Inn aired and a scene happened that got netizens upset. The cast gave out awards and Dylan Wang got an award of “You are Just Dylan Wang” or “You are Just Wang He Di” and also they changed his name to an same pronunciation character Di which means Low. So they called him Wang He Low basically. They also teased that they had a group chat text thread without him. After it aired netizens said the cast bullied him and Dylan came out and said that he thought he was just being sensitive at that time but yes he didn’t feel good about it.
So public sentiment was on him and the ensuing wave led to his costar Shen Yue to publicly apologize for causing any discomfort, explaining the joke was wanting the team leader Dylan Wang to put down his load and just go back to being Dylan Wang, and the group chat without him was solely to coordinate booking out a movie theater when Dylan’s movie came out to surprise and support him. Then the tidal wave turned as netizens are calling this the “Dylan Boomerang” as it was revealed that the scene was filmed 3 months ago in February and if Dylan was uncomfortable he could have spoken to his castmates about it especially Shen Yue since they are good friends in real life. And yet he said nothing until now and doing so publicly, leading Shen Yue to get flamed. Netizens says Dylan has a track record of throwing his costars especially female leads under the bus to garner support and sympathy or when he doesn’t need them anymore for CP shipping. So now sympathy is with Shen Yue asking why she even needed to apologize for what was clearly joking amount a close cast of friends and with reasons that are not bullying. And the cherry on top is that Dylan and Shen Yue have now unfriended each other on Weibo. Dang.

The group chat she mentioned was created after the show finished filming. She mentioned this chat to make herself look good. They kept talking about another chart from the start of the show, constantly making fun of him. All of them received titles that reflected their achievement or role. What they said about him was dismissive. Like what kind of an award is it when people say move on and be yourself? They mocked his name and this is personal and rude. They asked that question “Can we manage without you?” And laughed. They thought it was so funny. It is not. Now people who showed signs of ostricizing their colleague, humiliating him publicly are pitied. Seriously they all should apologise. It is not normal behaviour towards a colleague, especially taking into account he chose them for his team because of their high emotional intelligence. And when did he “throw his female co-stars stars unser the bus”? When does he use CP to promote himself? Since 2023 he hasn’t done any romantic drama.
Lol wut? If he felt uncomfortable about it he should have raised it privately with Shen Yue and the others soon after filming, not months later. So he needed fans’ little essays to validate his “oversensitivity”? Wow, grow up dude.
Now c-netz have dug up his previous cutting remarks and actions to his co-stars and other colleagues, whether in variety shows or dramas. So you’re telling me those people who suffered his cutting remarks and roughhousing are supposed to let that pass while he is entitled to sympathy?
I saw some videos of Dylan pushing/tripping and being aggressive to his co-stars. His kind of jokes are dangerous.
Hah! You just made it obvious you never watched the show. Throughout the whole season the group chat thing was just a running joke between the “No Scheming Trio” (Shen Yue, Xu Zhisheng and Qin Lan). The “group chat” was first brought up when Zhisheng wanted to make himself look good to the boss and scheme against the other 2. And they will all joke that there is a group chat. This is a variety show, they’re trying to make content. But they also made it clear that such a group chat did not exist during the shooting. Many many times they will deny and clarify after joking that there wasn’t one so people understood they were definitely joking. Are you saying now that 3 of them are liars? If you did watch the show and didn’t grasp that it was a joke you clearly have a comprehension problem. Ultimately, this is a SHOW. They’re there to make it entertaining and funny. Not coddle someone’s feelings. If it wasn’t for this “scandal” I wouldn’t even have known that WHD had done and said more outrageous things on variety shows compared to what his fans are trying to crucify the Dear Inn’s casts for. If he could dish it, he should be able to take it. Perhaps he should also apologise to SY for constantly calling her short, fat, a cow, an idiot throughout the show? Or how about when he said to Qin Lan that she was only working hard and doing things for the show (questioning her sincerity). I felt uncomfortable when he said that in that episode. I thought it was rude to have outrightly say that. It made her look like a clown. There were many more instances, but I’m not going to list them. As someone who actually watched the show from Episode 1, and the extra episodes, I think I have more insights to this show than you do. So don’t even try to twist it into something it’s not 🤨
Unfortunately, in this case, things were just blown up and amplified by WHD’s fans (yeah I’m looking at you too). It’s obvious there was no real malice from them toward him, but his fandom blew it up to make it seem that there was, and him essentially agreeing with them on a public platform is akin to throwing his friends under the bus. As his fan you only think he handled his “right to express his feelings” correctly, but if SY posting her feelings through the same channel is wrong, then you clearly have double standards. If as his fan, you do not see that his fandom is clearly being unreasonable, then all I can say is “Sure sure… your idol is the only one who’s right. He’s the only good one. Shen Yue, Zhisheng, Qin Lan, Wu Zelin, and Chen Xiao are such hoooorrible, malicious and fake friends.” 😒
“Publicly pitied” Hah! What a joke. Only his fans thought that. “Seriously they all should apologise.” Yeah we’ve seen the mass comments from his fandom asking for the same thing. Adamantly and persistently. But what happened when SY fell down to their demands? They claimed she did it to steer public opinion, was insincere, and that they NEEEVEERR ASKED her to apologise. Then they made fun of her saying that he never specifically mentioned her so “why did she apologise?” after her apology didn’t give WHD the effect that the fandom wanted. Then the cherry on top: “We never even asked her to apologise. Who told her to apologise? Why did she have to apologise on Weibo” narrative started popping up, as if other people never saw the mass hate train she was already receiving after his post 🙄 How bloody unreasonable. What a joke. Thank god the general mass didn’t see things from your rose coloured lens or else Shen Yue would’ve been the one publicly crucified.
It’s funny that he had to read netizens’ opinion to actually know how he felt about something that happened many months ago.
Please, read the post. “I thought I was over sensitive back then” . He did feel offended but thought it was his problem. But when we look at the same situation from a different perspective, we see what it actually was. When I look back at some situations from my past, I realize that what seemed like pranks, was actually bullying. People must stand up for themselves and if his actions make some of his co-worker uncomfortable, they should also say it.
Wang Hedi is immature af
So its okay as long as he makes the sharp jokes and comments about members of these shows but when someone says something similar he ias bitter as … I thought he was more mature and decent than this level its disappointing.
Lol I dont care about their feud, cos ent industry are filed with these sort of incidents some real some fake to drum up PR for the show ans the people involved. Bad PR is still PR.
What im laughing at is their mutual weibo unfollows. Whatever would their crazy delulu shippers do now?? Loll. Those crazies are so insistent these two have been secretly dating and married. 🤣🤣
The unfollows just proves the point that alot of these so called friendships in the industry are transactional, fleeting and transient. Mostly just for show.
He is very good a dishing it out but a mimosa when the joke is on him. There is a whole collection of bad jokes that he made on his colleagues. Fortunately for him, they were better sports than he is.
No, sensitivity isn’t a weakness, but when that sensitivity only applies to oneself, it’s called narcissism.
That guy needs to work on his over-inflated ego.
He shot himself in the foot. Instead of talking it out in private, he posted an attack at two in the morning, knowing it would cause severe bullying of her.
It’s not surprising of course considering he is an abuser. I am glad all his dirty laundry is being aired out. The man is a violent abuser who attacks other people physically, could have hurt numerous people with his attacks and such people should actually be in the spotlight for their behavior. Horrible person.
This whole “why did he speak out now” reminds me of society’s reaction to SA or bullying victims.
He spoke up because he felt bad, and she apologized because she knew they were in the wrong. I actually applaud her for her courage.
Now, if someone feels they were slighted/hurt by Wang Hedi they should speak out too. Noone should stay silent if they don’t feel right.
And it wasn’t “low”, it was “bottom”.
He and Mengyang didn’t expect this to backfire for sure lol. Besides, what she said is Just Wang Hedi, meaning back to his own self, it’s only the program that encoded and added “A”. He should quit and go back to school to learn how to read and comprehend. What a big baby!
Ohh please your Wang He low is just a man child( A very fitting name indeed as hes low for what he did here)…Ye, he felt so offended that he also laughed his ass off then and said nothing to anyone, yet only used fans analysis to remind himself 3 months later..” Ohh I felt uncomfortable then??” Giving them the amo to start their rabbid bullying towards Shen Yue thus prompting an apology and explanation again!!!…Thee notorious Dylan Wang, whos known as an unhinged prankster and joker who have done and said some crazy and questionable things to his co- stars esp the female ones, and even in the face of being uncomfortable, they laughed it off and moved on, yet he cant take a joke, saying hes just Dylan Wang, which was ment for him to just revert back to himself and not be burden with being a host…And the early group chat was also a joke and didnt exist, the one that was created days after was ment as a surprise for him to support his incoming drama and the funny thing is all this was all explained in a live and he laughed and thank everyone..Now here we are 3 months later😅…Maybe Dyan should start apologizing to everyone sent joke towards and unknowingly hurt their feelings and lets start with Shen Yue when he caled her Ugly💅…Yet I never saw her publicly come to agree with fans analysis on his comment…ummm..lol..He’s such an asshole..
If they were truly friends, it’s sad that this broke the friendship. I don’t think Wang Hedi was intentionally malicious and he has a right to feel hurt by that segment – I think some variety shows and the behavior encouraged by them go too far – but it is such a terrible move to be posting it in the middle of the night in a public forum. It does make me wonder if some actors are truly ignorant to how rabid their fans are and don’t see the responsibility of managing their massive influence on behavior as part of the job description.
With this boomerang happening, I get the feeling that his rabid fans will try to target Shen Yue even more for apologizing and clarifying things.
He has a right to feel uncomfortable? Does he also have a right to cause bodily harm and choke his female counterparts?
