Lee Soo Hyuk Drops Out of Suzy Led K-drama Men of the Harem and Replaced with Lee Jong Won
So there’s a casting change with upcoming K-drama Men of the Harem as the most famous actor in the so-called harem of male leads just dropped out and replaced with another. Adapted from a webtoon, the drama is slated to star Suzy as she lives out a world where she as the Empress has a harem of men to choose among as her Royal Consort. But now it won’t include Lee Soo Hyuk who dipped reportedly due to scheduling conflict, and will likely include Lee Jong Won who is stepping in. The other actors in the harem will be Yoo Jung Ho, Shin Seung Ho, Kim Dan, and Lee Gyu Han, and Ji Chang Wook is also in this in a guest starring role.

Oh it’s a better replacement. lol. Not a fan of harem genre though. Will see.
I was thoroughly impressed by Suzy in Anna and liked her in While You Were Sleeping and Doona. But her last drama Genie, Make a Wish was a total miss for me. Kim Woo-bin’s styling in Genie was atrocious, and Suzy’s acting was wooden and boring! I’ll check out her dramas anyway.
The filming already started for a month so it’s really strange how lee soohyuk suddenly dipped! The replacement is also too quick. I smell some inside story here…
Btw it seems the publicity will rely on suzy star power only. The other three guys aside from shin seungho and lee jongwon is unknown to me so I don’t know if they could even act
Oh there’s definitely some tea here! But if filming is only a month in that’s time for everyone to get a replacement and save face
and LSH isn’t some rookie he’s literally been acting for 20 years now, he was the male lead in this too (he usually plays supporting roles) I wonder what happened.
They may not have gotten around to filming his scenes yet or else there would have been more of a buzz about how scenes have to be refilmed and such. I wonder how this will pan out. Will be like a Boyfriend on Demand thing where each guy gets an episode?
Is that Kim Jin Young from Singles Inferno is one of the photos of the male harem actors???
Is ‘fantasy European royalty setting but with Korean actors’ the new trend for kdramas now? First Remarried Empress and now this.
(even Perfect Crown posters had that aesthetic with the military uniform+formal ball gown but that was set in modern Korea so the look was only for one episode)
I really like Lee Jong Won so its a win from my viewpoint!
LSH is a good looking fella but I’m really not a fan of his acting, mostly stiff and unnatural. LJW is a pretty and I find him to be a better actor in comparison, emotes more naturally. So this is an upgrade for me, yes. I heard the script went to several actors initially and LJW was one of them.
