Rookie Actor Lee Jung Ha Achieves Breakout as the Young Male Lead in Disney+ Drama Moving After Gaining and Losing 30kg in Method Acting
I love a positive breakout story and the male lead of Moving definitely earned it. Young actor Lee Jung Ha went from just starting out his entertainment career with small parts in a few dramas to headlining the buzziest K-drama of 2023. To play bumbling sweet natured fly boy Kim Bong Seok, he put on 30 kgs of weight to achieve that round softness which he amplified by his insanely charming squinty smile. He’s since lost all that weight and it’s a bit weird to see him promoting Moving while looking so different from Bong Seok-ie (more like class president Gang Hoon haha), but I’m so happy to have found a talented new young star and I’m sure roles are just flooding in these days so it’ll be cool to see how he rides the wave of this breakout.
That kid has the face of an idol. I wonder if he was in a boy band or something, I must check it out.
He was in one the idols show The Unit.
He was a trainee under JYP but left as he felt he didn’t have the skills to become a successful idol. He’s since said he regrets leaving. He’s great as an actor though so I’m kind of glad he did!
He was awesome in Run On with SSK & ISW. Small part but left a strong impression.
He has that kind, genuine and sincere face. Incidentally while watching moving, he reminds of Cha Tae-Hyun in his My Sassy Girl era.
I also like Tae-Hyun Bungeaman storyline and how endearing the way bong sookie says bungaeman referring to cha tae hyun’s portrayal of a childhood character
He was really cute in this role.
Did he really gain that much? 30kg is a lot and it does not really look like he gained that much weight.
I would speculate that the 30 kg is cumulative, i.e. he gained 15 kg which he then proceeded to lose. Pretty reasonable transformation I think.
