Song Wei Long Cast in Mainstream Police C-drama Xing Jing Rong Yu with Filming Slated for September 2026
It’s from a hardscrabble delinquent type character to a cop one next for C-actor Song Wei Long. His next role will not be yet another idol type period or romance drama but will be in a mainstream big budget police procedural Xing Jing Rong Yu 刑警荣誉 which means honor of the policeman. It’s apparently got an award winning production team behind it so great for him to land this type of coveted role. I’m still undecided if I want to pick up Love for You again but his role there was at least less perfect and posing visuals as most dramas tend try to style him for image-maxxing.

Congrats to him! Noticing a lot of actors/actresses are trying to break out of the “idol” drama line and pursue more serious acting roles.
I’m still completely indifferent to him even though he’s got a few dramas done well.
It will be nice to see him in this type of role. I like him and if the script sounds interesting, I’ll surely check it out.
I have fast forwarded the crap out of Love for you and the only reason I am trying to end this torture is because I wanted to see how they translated the novel. They def made the lead characters less toxic but the the drama really doesn’t not translate the chemistry and the intensity of the novel. It’s bland.
Although when SWL got a haircut in the show I thought he could do a cop show lol and looks like this casting director did too.
Congrats to him! I feel like he does better in contemporary dramas.
same that’s how i feel, the makeup looks alot more natural
His face doesn’t suit historical dramas at all. I can’t get through his historical ones because he looks so out of place, but I like the contemporary ones.
After watching Shine on Me and sitting through his “posing through the role” acting, I honestly haven’t had the desire to watch another one of his dramas 😂
Anyone who has watched his other drama…has he broken out of that vanity-driven acting style yet? I’m curious to know…
Nope. Still can’t act worth a damn.
Unfortunately not. His “acting” has been stagnant for years now. I occasionally watch a drama of his every few years, like Go Ahead or Shine on Me. There’s been zero improvement. His visual isn’t my cup of tea, so I can’t even overlook the bad acting and just focus on the “pretty”.
Good roles are given to the useless traffic while skilled actors have to play side characters in idol dramas. If they keep going on like this, there is no hope for C-dramas.
