This drama and casting came out of nowhere for me, either it was kept super low key or I simply missed the casting rumor phase. iQiyi announced today that upcoming period C-drama Echoes (Chinese title Chao Yu Jie 朝玉阶 or Facing the Jade Steps) will star Bai Lu with Chen Zhe Yuan in yet another roulette of popular stars eventually getting to work together. Bai Lu will be playing two characters reportedly and one is the older version of the other as the two meet. This is a Yu Zheng produced drama so expect the usual supporting faces from the agency rounding out the cast. Filming is slated for year end December 2026 start. While I’m fine with Bai Lu and Chen Zhe Yuan working together I get the sense they won’t be very compatible chemistry and acting-wise but would love to be proven wrong.
