There are a lot of unknowns around the upcoming KBS drama Prime Minister and I. Right now it has small shoes to fill when it premieres in a month after the low-rated Marry Him If You Dare wraps up. The initial casting caused general consternation when the forty-something serious actor Lee Bum Soo was paired up with the twenty-something lightweight … Continue reading →
It’s sad the writing for Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) has been confusing and lackluster. It’s not bad, per se, just oddly jarring and premised on keeping the audience in the dark as to motivations. I actually think the characters are all well constructed, but the development of the characters have taken a back seat to future Mi … Continue reading →
I don’t know whether to lead with the latest stills and previews for Pretty Boy, or with the confirmed news that leading man Jang Geun Seok has finally cut his hair. A hair change for a drama role is normally not newsworthy (though Yoon Eun Hye‘s fried perm for Marry Him If You Dare did cause waves a few month … Continue reading →
I’m of two minds about posting updates on new couple Moon Geun Young and Kim Bum‘s romantic European vacation. I don’t want them bothered but it tickles me happy to see pics of them wandering the avenues and lanes hand-in-hand in happy bliss. If Dispatch or one of those tabloids sent anyone to hound them or take pictures for their … Continue reading →
This was the most substantive episode of Heirs/The Inheritors to date. It also helped immensely that the protracted staring was kept to a minimum, though sadly there was no commensurate improvement on the kissing front. This was the first time that I saw a smidge of character development on all major fronts, and even if it took 12 episodes that’s … Continue reading →
C-entertainment (Mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) went on a blitzkrieg yesterday with the dating news dump and November 13th is being called Red Wednesday. Either it was the case of the most surreptitious coordinating in the history of entertainment news or else the biggest coincidence ever. In addition to Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi dating, Yang Mi and Hawick … Continue reading →
Looks like there is more kissy kissy time ahead for the OTP in Heirs/The Inheritors. I wished I cared more but it’s hard to care when Tan pretty much forces his will on Eun Sang. Even if she maybe likes it, I’m not a fan of the method of taking under the assumption that the other person is willing to … Continue reading →
I think SBS can consider Heirs/The Inheritors a relative win. It’s not a ratings monster it could have been but the ratings have been on a steady one way climb since its premiere and still gets plenty of buzz online domestically and internationally. Once nightly ratings leader Secret ends this week, Heirs has a chance to own the night and … Continue reading →
I feel like watching Heirs is like playing a game of musical chairs or duck-duck-goose, the entire narrative keeps going in circles and chases that have no exit. One thing teen dramas is supposed to have is a surfeit of fun. Because they are young and aren’t tied to adult and real world problems and consequences yet, the narrative allows … Continue reading →
At this point, it’s going to be easier spotting sad single lonely C-entertainers in the audience because everyone else is hooking up or tying the knot left and right. Today November 13 is going to be a day of threes starting with Bu Bu Jing Xin co-stars Nicky Wu and Liu Shi Shi confirming their new relationship. Up next to … Continue reading →
I think Kim Eun Seok casted well in pairing up Lee Min Ho and Kim Woo Bin as frenemies in Heirs/The Inheritors. They are both equally as tall and honestly their mano-a-mano staredowns wouldn’t work if they weren’t equally as imposing. Tan is quiet but I like that he acts out first whenever Young Do pushes the wrong Eun Sang related buttons around him. In the preview … Continue reading →
Oh. My. God. I confess to never thinking this could even be possible, and rather laughed that so many 4th Prince-Ruo Xi shippers in Bu Bu Jing Xin transferred their romance to the lead actors Nicky Wu (Wu Qi Long) and Liu Shi Shi. I may be a HongShi shipper but the LongShi fans always seemed a ship far off … Continue reading →
I’ve finally cottoned on to what is so utterly aggravating about Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice). The writing is flawed but it’s not horrendous, with a veritable avalanche of shitty dramas lined up way ahead of it. The acting is solid but marred by frustrating characterizations. But ultimately what’s killing my love for it (and I did love it … Continue reading →
