It’s a busy month of August for Cheng Lei, starting it off with the premiere of Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and likely ending the month with the premiere of Shadow Love with Song Yi. The two dramas won’t overlap for him but he will stay buzzy thanks to being on the small screen in two different … Continue reading →
The C-drama Legend of the Female General, adapted from the popular and very fun novel Rebirth of a Star General, is my biggest C-drama disappointment of 2025 so far. It’s not as bad as some other C-dramas but since it came with such high expectation due to my love for the source novel it makes the wholly mediocre drama version … Continue reading →
Yesterday was D-Day for those of us (memememe!) waiting for the premiere of Legend of the Female General, adapted from a novel by Qian Shan Cha Ke titled Rebirth of a Star General. Tencent had to delay the drama for six months due to the scandal with a male supporting lead and then filming his scenes with a different actor … Continue reading →
The delayed but still much awaited arrival (for me) of period revenge and romance C-drama Legend of the Female General is finally coming! Tencent will premiere the drama on August 6th and hopefully spend this week prior doing solid promos. After the abrupt cancellation of one of the main supporting leads and needing to AI faceswap his character with another … Continue reading →
Lol, I can’t believe I’m seeing the opposite reason but the same thing that happened with Dilraba Dilmurat and her fandom during the filming of her C-drama Love Beyond the Grave. There the complaint on her costume was that it was too ornate and too much going on all over the place. Now there are complaints coming out from the … Continue reading →
So the recently aired xianxia C-drama Feud left me massively frustrated but at the plot and less at the leads. I still have a soft spot for Bai Lu and saw that she really tried hard and mostly delivered, at times it did feel like she was playing a prior performance I’ve seen before before but it also felt like … Continue reading →
The new promos for Legend of the Female General bodes well for the insider chatter that Tencent will release it in August 2025. That’s less than two months from now, but six months longer than the originally scheduled February release that was scuttled due to the scandal and alleged misconduct by the supporting male lead. He’s since been AI-face swapped … Continue reading →
C-actress Bai Lu is known for being a near uninterrupted hard worker, she goes from project to project and she’s now rolling into being the top billed female lead in period C-drama Mo Li (莫离) which literally translates as Don’t Leave. It’s adapted from the novel Sheng Shi Di Fei 盛世嫡妃 or Golden Age Legitimate Consort and is a strong … Continue reading →
The wait for Legend of the Female General may be nearing the end, after an aborted attempt to premiere early this year in January got scuttled due to the scandal of a major male supporting lead. The production quickly decided to re-film his scenes with a new actor and AI face swap into the drama. That has been finished now … Continue reading →
The first preview is out for the period romance C-drama How Are You? and Cheng He Ti Tong 成何体统! is the Chinese title and translated literally means How Dare You! The English title goes from imperious to sweet and the tonal dichotomy is also evident in the teaser which was way more comedic than I expected. The drama is adapted … Continue reading →
The new period C-drama is about to kick off filming and the leads are basically confirmed though not yet formally announced. The drama is titled Mo Li (莫离) and is adapted from the Feng Qing novel titled Golden Age Legitimate Fei (盛世嫡妃 Sheng Shi Di Fei). The leads are going to be Bai Lu and Cheng Lei and production will … Continue reading →
This is probably as good as it gets for Tencent sitting on the fully finished and high profile period C-drama Legend of the Female General with Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei. In early January there was word that Tencent was going to air the drama at the end of that month around lunar new year. Then a week late supporting … Continue reading →
So it feels like every popular drama C-actress and C-actor has a drama currently filming, currently/pending airing, and another one in talks always at the same time. This week C-ent casting rumor mills has Bai Lu and Cheng Lei in 莫离 (Mo Li). The excitement is that the director is Lin Yu Fen who a lot of people are waiting … Continue reading →
