Woo Do Hwan Has Fun With Onscreen Siblings and is the Most Fun Character(s) in The King: Eternal Monarch

It was a bit like Plinko for the first few episodes of The King: Eternal Monarch. I wasn’t sure where the ball would drop as it careened through the messy narrative and directing in terms of who got the best character and gave the best performance. Most fun character for sure is going to Woo Do Hwan, his dual role as kingly protector Jo Yeong and country bumpkin Eun Seob, and as Jo Yeong pretending to be Eun Seob and Eun Seob pretending to be Jo Yeong, made this drama worth watching just to experience his scenes. Before Yeong and Eun Seob met individually they were just meh but after it’s been firing on all cylinders. I don’t think Woo Do Hwan is giving the best performance in this drama, that’s someone else (who is acting like he’s in a totally different and way more serious drama lol), but he’s the sorely needed comedic and sweet element that helps wash down the cruddy bits. Also, his onscreen scenes with his little younger sister twin are just gold, we need MOAR!

    • Oh excuse me, he is playing two different characters and the two characters pretending to be one another…thst is 4 different character acts.

      • Agreed. He might not be the most experienced actor, but I question the comment that he has limited range. I don’t particularly care for his acting in this drama, (personally, I feel he’s done his best work in Save Me and Mad Dog). He has talent, just needs to work with the right script and director.

      • Well for me, he is simply superb, switching from serious to wacky. Limited actor uhmm…
don’t think so.. His acting in Divine Fury can also prove his ability…

    • How many of his dramas other than TKEM have you watched? In other dramas where he is the second the lead, he manage to shine. Why? The writer and director provide the right script and direction. This drama is a screw-up from episode 1 to 11.

    • I guess you don’t know him that well yet or maybe this is your first time watching him on tv anymore a? is this your first kdrama? ? sounds like you don’t know what ur talking about ?

    • I’m sorry hon but I will always cheer him on ????he is handsome and talented live him in the New Country he is an amazing Actor ?

    • He is a fabulous actor! equally superb as his co actor’s in “The King” and also Kim Kyung-Nam you are Awesome!!!!!!!!

I must mention the people who do the subtitle’s in english for k-dramas and movies, you all are absolutely fantastic!!! And korean language sounds so beautiful and don’t like it when it’s dubbed in other languages

    • Seriously?! Are you watching with your eyes open? I don’t know who the other actor you are referring to is but Woo Dohwan steels the show in a very difficult character portrayal. Are you an actor? Do you have room to criticize?

  1. WDH is doing great here. Another gem in this drama with more depth in hus performance is actor who’s playing Sin Jae.

And for those who can’t move from this drama, those who kept complaining yet has been critizinh this drama continously, Try ‘Oh My Baby’ – it’s a drama that can truly touch your heart. It’s a nice romance drama too.

  2. His acting is SO fun to watch! His characters are truly different from each other, even when he’s dressed identically. And his interactions with the little siblings is awesome. 🙂

  3. Honestly, when he was annouced as second lead, I already predicted he will be better than LMH. He’s way more charismatic. He’s killing it in this role. I was disapointed in the first episodes because he was just the stoic bodyguard. But now, his roles became more important and then the show became way more fun to watch.

He was really good in Save Me, Mad Dog and My Country. It will be nice if he can have a lead role before the military service.

  4. You watch him in My Country: The New Age, it was a masterpiece! Excellent story, superb acting and amazing cast.

  5. Saw him on my My country and tempted and my gosh he can act. He is not just a handsome face. He can deliver comedy and drama well and action.

  6. I loooveeee DOOHWAN ,with either protagonist or antagonist roles? ??❤ ? He knows how to play it well. He will always be one of my favorites. I keep cheering for you! Sarangge!

  7. He is a fabulous actor! equally superb as his co actor’s in “The King” and also Kim Kyung-Nam you are Awesome!!!!!!!!

I must mention the people who do the subtitle’s in english for k-dramas and movies, you all are absolutely fantastic!!! And korean language sounds so beautiful and don’t like it when it’s dubbed in other languages.

  8. Another gud actor on omy wish list..he’s everything..I’ll better start watching all his dramas. Would love to see his psyche shade again ?
