Bigger isn’t necessarily better is a true adage in many situations, and almost certainly applies to dramas. Those aiming for bigger often find the collapse to be equally thunderous, which can make for entertaining watches for the exact opposite reasons of rubbernecking the hot mess. Premiering this April 3rd is the huge budget period C-drama God of War Zhao Zi Long (also known as God of War Zhao Yun or Chinese Hero Zhao Zi Long), based on the life of famed military general Zhao Yun (nee Zi Long) during the late Han/early Three Kingdoms era. This is vastly fictionalized, with a Zhao Zi Long played by pretty boy Lin Geng Xin and his love interest the willowly Yoona of SNSD. Historically realistic this is not, but the sprawling supporting cast also including Kim Jung Hoon, Godfrey Gao, Yan Yi Kuan, Jia Qing, and many others certainly makes for a buffet of reasons to check it out this week. It’s fairly safe to bet that the drama will bring in ratings and recoup the cost with overseas licensing deals regardless of quality.

I have to said that I watched this for Kim Jung Hoon, I missed him in a drama and the drama looked interesting
You weren't joking when you said it was historically inaccurate.
28min trailer...the last trailer they released already gave away the ending.
Yi tian jian? Is this the poor(tasteless) man's Yi Tian Tu Long Ji?
Actually, the trailer turned out better than I thought. I will be waiting to watch it tonight. Seems like a light hearted drama mix with action.
Sigh I'm torn whether I should watch this or not. I had looked forward to this drama before because I used to like Lin Geng Xin plus there's Kim Jung Hoon and Yoona. But then, my image of Lin Geng Xin changed ever since he did what he did during Tzuyu's controversy and I don't want to watch any of his dramas anymore. However Kim Jung Hoon and Yoona are in this drama and I want to see them, argh I feel so conficted.
What did Lin Geng Xin do? :O
He basically said that Tzuyus apology was not genuine and called her out for reading it like a "script"... He tweeted it to his thousands of followers and let's just say it did not help the situation...
@Daisy he was laughing cause her apology was very obviously scripted. From the way they made her read the entire letter to the point they made her look like she is abducted by terrorist while she was safe in a studio. He wasn't laughing at her ,he ( and rest of the China) was laughing at JYP for making her embarrass herself that way.
@hili, I think that's a smart strategy of JYP to embarrass and chide C netizens and related authority. And I think it works. That ISIS-resembling vid of Twice girl does gain sympathy from a lot of people. Me too disapprove of LGX's comment. What good can he gain to mock the girl in this incident? He's stupid without sense and I don't like air-headed actors/actresses.
Lin Geng Xin is best friends with Wang Si Cong. You can always expect trolling from them.
He pointed out the obvious and people got offended.
No he has a thrash character for mocking a young girl's distressing situation. Bring down Ling Geng Xin.
"God of War"? I thought "God of War" was Guan Yu, not Zhao Yun. The title itself is already inaccurate.
When Lin Geng Xin's name popped up in the title, I knew instantly I'm not gonna give a dang sh*t to his drama. Besides, the costumes, the colors, and the visual style are just what the heck. I can expect some cheap 5-cent CGI and tacky visual effects to go along. Just forget about the screenplay or acting. Drop this one.
Am I the only one that thinks Yoona smile don't fit that historical pic?! I've never seen a historical pic with a female showing teeth! Lol
I hope for her sake that it will do well
She's meant to be a bubbly teenager. If you read up on her character you would know.
Besides she plays two characters, the other role is a male character.
I just watched the first episode and I like it a lot so far. It doesnt seem weird or cheap at all.
