Life goes on relatively normally in South Korea which has gotten the COVID-19 spread under control it seems. That means shops and markets are business as usual which includes fresh and wet markets where Asian shoppers prefer to buy meats and seafood. K-actor Ryu Jun Yeol shared a SNS post of a fresh fish he bought where he brought his own plastic container to carry it rather than use the plastic bags from the vendor. That’s great, sustainability efforts have really taken root the last 5 years with plastic bag bans in many countries and socially it’s now a commonplace habit to bring your own grocery bags to the store. But a container to carry fresh seafood or meat, that’s one step further and kudos to Ryu Jun Yeol. Good life changes need to start small with each of us.
The city I live does not allow customers to bring in recycling bags, own coffee cups, nor own containers for shopping due to fear of Covid spread. Different place different policy.
It is the same in my area.
But kudos to him for his contribution and consideration 🙂
No reusable coffee cups for sure. But since people are bagging their own groceries why not?
Some shops have stopped having cashiers and we are all doing self service. With social distancing in place. Alternate machines.
Good on him for bringing his own containers. We don’t even get to choose our fruit or veg. You touch it you buy it at the local farmers market. And using compostable plastic bags too for those fruit/veg.
There’s so much misinformation and disinformation about wet markets in the West.
