Producer and Agency President Yu Zheng Discusses How He Has Intentionally Sidelined Actress Wu Jing Yan for the Past Year to Avoid Pigeon-holing Her into an Image

I find producer-director Yu Zheng one of the biggest slimeballs in C-ent but he can’t be faulted here for this decision which is interesting to think about. He recently shared an interview and discussed how his actress Wu Jing Yan under his agency has not done a drama in over a year and explained that it was intentional as he has rejected many an offer. The reason being is that she keeps getting the same types of roles and dramas and he’s afraid if she keeps doing it she will be pigeon-holed into this one image forever. He’s been promoting her since giving her the breakout role in his hit drama Yanxi’s Palace and then reuniting her with Xu Kai later in Royal Feast which wasn’t a hit. I’m curious what her next role will be and how that will re-boot her career hopefully.

  1. I love Yoo Yeon Seuk but truly objected to ‘Interest of Love’ whereby gaslighting is given a ‘pass.’ This behavior is totally not acceptable and the fact that he assumes some of the blame is wrong. SHE did the gaslighting and it was 100% her behavior. Frustrating that this show gives an excuse for this deplorable behavior.

  2. Bull. She’s nowhere near getting pigeonholed into a character. Her only known character is Wei Yingluo and now that palace in-fighting dramas are banned, how is she going to get a similar role? She wasn’t able to ride on the fame of Yanxi, and is now a middling 90-er actress without ratings draw nor acting prowess. She needs to take any role she can get, and not wait for something to fall into her lap. Plus, it’s public knowledge that Yu produces dramas specially for his favs, so if he really wants to give her a breakthrough role he’d have done that already. The fact is that she’s not a sought after actress, and Yu cannot get his projects passed by the streaming platforms if he insists on casting her. Under the current climate, the only actresses who get greenlighted unconditionally are Yang Mi, Zhao Liying, Liu Yifei, Dilraba and Yang Zi.

  3. Don’t get me started on his management of Song Wei Long’s acting career… slimeball is the gentlest description of YZ.
In hindsights, so glad Wu Lei rejected the offer to join his agency. WL and his family must had known very well who’s-who in C-ent.
Feel sorry for all the aspiring actors who joined his agency thinking he’s doing things in their best interests.
As-if YZ also rejects offers on behalf of Xu Kai so he wouldn’t repeated the same type of roles @@ *eyes rolling* such a hypocrite, snake toungue so-called talent manager. Stay away -young ones!!! Unless you’re willing to sell your soul to the Devil.

  4. He should be more worried about himself. All the dramas he produced have been flops ever since Yanxi (and even then, he did not write Yanxi). Now he can barey attain funds to produce dramas and has to resort to false marketing. His latest drama Lan Zhou Yin is intentionally named as such to mislead BL fans into thinking its based on Qiang Jin Jiu when its not even an adaptation of the novel.

  5. Her acting is not as terrible as per comments given by some of the netizens. I have watched her dramas and notice that she is rather likeable and able to act rather well. If her acting is no good, then there are a lot of actors and actresses are falling into the same category as her. So don’t really understand why she is under such a massive attack. Perhaps her management company does not know how to manage her well.
