Filming is reportedly starting for Squid Game 2 this summer with an eye towards a 2024 release on Netflix. At Tudum, the platform’s promo event this weekend, Netflix confirmed that the original four big stars Lee Jung Jae, Gong Yoo, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon will all be returning, and joining them are additional top stars Im Shi Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Geun. This is an insane lineup though strange to not see a single female lead in the mix. Netflix is going through a transformative phase what with ending password sharing and requiring same household use leading to both cancellations and also new subscribers in varying degrees but the future remains having a consistent pipeline of new and good content so people will stay.

Please let Wi Ha Joon be alive and not just a flashback.
To think that all those new player will die. I'm looking forward to the female casts and even hoping for int'l casts too since the India guy had a very good story arch and chemistry w/ the rest of the cast in season1.
Oh, that's something I hadn't thought of, international players.
The cast will be 80% men and the women might die off early or just be there for flaunting their pretty faces but guessing Blackpink Jennie might join the cast. Squid Game put Kdrama on the map permanently but it honestly was a mediocre drama that made dark, gory themed dramas unnecessarily too popular.
The female cast had better be good ones if they are going to be announcing them at a later date. With everyone complaining about no females in the cast, it's almost as if they're drumming up anticipation for who they are, so I hope it won't be a disappointment when they are finally announced.
it's logical for me that there are won't be so many female roles, because the story is built on social inequality. Second season will tell about the bosses of the squid game, and I doubt that there will be many women among them in the plot.
