Tencent Randomly Announces Writer and Psychologist Modern Romance Twilight with Allen Ren and Angelababy Release Same Day as Drama Drops
This drama is not to be confused with the Hollywood movie series Twilight but the release seems as random as that whole story haha. Tencent on June 29th announced the release of modern romance drama Twilight on the very day of it’s drop so there are already episodes out as I type. Starring Allen Ren as a drama scriptwriter and Angelababy as a psychologist, both of which are a huge stretch of the imagination as is lol, they meet when she talks someone committing suicide off a ledge and he asks for her help in writing a new script for the psychological thought process component of the characters and how viewers would react to story lines. Cue lots of drama within drama minis with Allen and Angelababy cosplaying the script characters. I don’t know if the source novel is any good but from the random nature of this release and zero promotion it feels like a dud just waiting to be watched and forgotten.
Preview for Twilight:
Even the poster is awkward looking.
Why does he keep doing romances when he is so bad at it. I try every time and nope. Same old expressionless face.
The only leading lady Allen Ren had CP with is Bai Lu. He is very quirky in this drama and found myself chuckling at the character he portrays. Unfortunately, there is zero CP so far. His character is starting to get more serious by Ep. 5 and he seems to be back to the same handsome, but stone-faced person. I will watch to the end simply because Angelbaby is so good.
I wonder, is Angelababy’s acting has improved? Seriously ask. I am not a hater but from watched Yun Ge TO Love the way you are, I gave up all after first episode, except A Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower where she played as death person.
Both actor and actress are boring to watch! Allen Ren has been cast too much. He looks ALL THE SAME in EAHC of his drama be it in the genre of costume, period, Xianxia, Republic-era, or modern. Acting-wise, Allen Ren is ok but not ok in terms of how repeatedly he’s used to the same acting style without differentiation between each role. I basically feel I’m watching actor Allen Ren not the hero he’s supposed to be in his dramas. After giving so many shots to his dramas, I give him up! And it’s a good decision because of time saved from unsatisfactory drama experience.
