Netflix Releases Posters and Preview for College Era Romance Drama Doona! with Suzy and Yang Se Jong

Netflix has released the first posters and promo teaser for its next K-drama Doona! airing on October 20th. It’s adapted from the webtoon Lee Doo Na! and the exclamation mark just emphasizes the star struck aspect of Suzy‘s female lead who is a top idol that leaves the industry and moves into a college student share housing. Yang Se Jong takes on the male lead in his first project post military service and he’s one of those young actors I like but don’t feel too strongly about him either way. The story appears female lead centric and is a little too on the nose casting Suzy as a top idol with her own real life idol trajectory. The first teaser looks solid and the posters make the two leads very attractive and their framing quite charming.

Netflix Releases Posters and Preview for College Era Romance Drama Doona! with Suzy and Yang Se Jong — 17 Comments

  1. Saw the teaser and wow, it’s so aesthetically pleasing! It was shot beautifully, that’s sure. Not a fan of Suzy’s acting in a few dramas I’ve seen her in, but she was recently nominated for a Baeksang best actress award, so that surely means her acting has improved. I also don’t want to write off an actress based off a few dramas. And I like Yang Se Jong, so will definitely check this out! Also, I don’t know, something about this just feels different even tho the plot doesn’t sound super unique on paper..

  2. I don’t know man, I’m not really a fan of Yang Se Jong in a romance drama. Especially this drama is supposed to be has ellectric chemistry given the female lead is such a flirt. But I heard the male lead is rather passive in the webtoon. and if Suzy enable to sell the female fatal kind of vibes. But I heard this drama is not totally romance center. So it might work.

    • Idk Yang Se Jong in romance drama, but from the teaser he is kinda… ok for Won Jun. In webtoon he is not really passive, he is a typical ‘good boy’ who naturally gets along with people even though not a bumbling type, and he has one sided love for another girl whose charm is definitely different from Doona, yet he keeps finding himself attracted to Doona more and more with all her eccentricities. I hope the PD could bring the electric moments between them to life. Suzy is kinda looking good as Doona here, but we’ll have to wait for the real drama to see how she does the “subtle yet relentless pulling” to Won Jun that finally change his heart and win him over.

      • Hope Yang Se Jong can improve to connect emotionally with his female lead co-star. He can has all the skinship thrown at him and his female lead, but the emotion isn’t there. then again, I just watch him in still 17 and My Country.

  3. I was kinda excited when I heard about this drama. After watching the teaser, I’m less interested. The FL looks pretty toxic and I prefer Suzy without bangs.

  4. I always thought people were exaggerating Suzy’s beauty with giving her the title of Nations first love. I sincerely apologize, she looks fantastic in the posters and beautiful in the teaser. I realize now that Nations first love is a well deserved title for her.

    • Wasn’t her Nation’s First Love title because of the movie Architecture 101 rather than her beauty though? But yes, she looks great in the teaser. She does look better in motion, I think

  5. I am looking forward to see other casts as their circle of friends, like Choi Ira, Jinju, Yoon, SJ Guk, Director Park, and so on. Even Jinju’s elder sister.

  6. When I saw the trailer, it I felt like Suzy was in goddess mode gracing us mortals with her presence with the way it was shot. I love Yang Se Jong cos you can just feel his sincerity on screen. They look great together. It reminds me of My Sassy Girl movie for some reason. Looking forward to it!

  7. I remember the days when Suzy got flak all over this blogging site for any of the leading roles she got. Wow! The sentiment has changed so dramatically since I took a hiatus from dramaland. I wonder what has made her improve and impress fans so much. Why the same phenomenon has never happened to C-ent?

    • I haven’t watched Anna (why did it have to be in Coupang Play 😭), but everyone is saying she improved tremendously in it. I watched some short clips of it, and yeah, her acting from what I’ve seen is really different from her past dramas! And she’s so charismatic there. I’m not a fan of Suzy, but seeing all the hate she got on this site kind of made me root for her lol. I mean, the criticisms were valid, but a lot of the comments here were just so disgustingly misogynistic, especially from that one rabid Lee Min Ho stan, literally calling her “flowerpot” and a mere m*sturb*tory material for military men 🤮
This site can be a magnet for some of the most unhinged people indeed lol.
Like I said, those comments made me lowkey root for Suzy, and now she proved that she’s more than a pretty face with her baeksang nomination and acclaim for her role in Anna. Good for her!

      • Then I should check out Anna. Honestly I’d never been her fan before either, nor do I consider her the most beautiful among all K girls. But she’s nominated for Baeksang that many decent actresses have never been able to achieve! That said something. Her success in acting profession is like an underdog story! And I love underdog stories. Lol. So I must check out her recent dramas. I’m gradually picking up Kdrama that I left behind while climbing up my career ladder. There’re already so many on my plate to watch.

I agree this site has some delirious visitors going too far. The best way for celebrities to slap antis right in their faces is to speak by works. I respect this kind of ppl in any profession, actors included.
