Dispatch Releases Expose that Park Min Young Received Money From Her Swindler Ex-boyfriend Despite Her Claiming She Received Zero Financial Anything From Him During Their Relationship — 56 Comments

  1. After Lee Sung-kyung, it’s hard for me to read about celebrity scandals.
I don’t know if she was an accomplice or not, and I don’t want to figure it out for myself.
I hope the police will conduct a decent investigation.
And seeing that she weighs 37 kilo, I just don’t want to see her in an even worse condition.

  2. I wish koala would stop doing this to further her blog. In soopmpi it was reported that PMY was questioned by the prosecution early in Feb 2023 and she was cleared of charges. This type of blogs is harmful. She is already at 37 kilos, do people want her to disappear from earth? What is this witch hunting.

      • The 37 kilos thing was her choice – she lost the weight as ‘method acting’ for her role as a dying cancer patient

      • @Vicki, you have got it wrong, she lost weight due to stress and illness… she was invited to film this drama after much presuasion as she lost confidence in herself. She has lost so much weight in 1 year, the PD used that to film her pre-rebirth scene.

You need not like her but dont undermine her very bad year… her weight loss was not done due to this drama… it happened even before the drama.

      • As the person saying below it’s her choice. But she has stated that her health is so bad she has received treatment from all the stress. If she has been cleared by police I don’t know why she is being hounded. People should go and hound the police instead of 1) letting go of people if they are guilty 2) bullying innocent people to death

    • This is today’s news from Dispatch and reported everywhere, not just Koala. I agree though that after LSK, Dispatch should stick to romantic “scandals” and live people alone.

    • Agreed. SM, non professional journalist-trained bloggers (Koala included), and tabloids should leave celebrities alone for this kind of unverified “scandals.” These casual media sources should have bottom line when reporting celebrity news and they shouldn’t cross the boundary.

I’m visiting Koala’s site to get updated information about Asian drama such as production, casting, and drama reviews etc., but not to pry into celebrities’ private life. I only care about actors’ professional works and performances. But this site is becoming rumor fodders of celeb’s privacy. Just look at the contents on C-ent section, 90% about gossips and Cdrama fans seem to enjoy fighting about gossips LOL. Don’t do that on K-ent blogs! If K-ent section becomes similar to C-ent contents, I’d not visit this blog site again. Koala used to write her own reviews in depth about dramas but not much anymore. I miss those days.

      • I agree with you. I’ve been reading Koala’s blog back when she still made quality reviews, year end lists of good kdramas etc. Now it’s just fodder for click-baits and celeb gossip—just like any rag tabloids looking to make a quick buck. You’d think since this is her blog she would at least raise it to a certain standard but no. Ah well, she’s the one making all these money from people’s misery. Must be fun.

  3. They were dating!!! He gave her some spending money… it is between this couple. This is just nasty… Media wants to hound her for dating the wrong guy!! This is just Sh*t. Dispatch likely did not get silencing money from her thus they do her in…

    • Agreed. She might have not known exactly what the guy was doing and thought he was an average rich man. After all, rich businessmen all more or less had utilised some sort of scheme to make their fortunes, that’s how they became rich.

I’ve started watching her drama upon your recommendation and I really like it so far.

      • Yes…it is. And we dont have to agree with each other on many things. That is what makes the world interesting…

  4. I cannot believe we are back to the same old witch-hunt even after Lee Sung Kyung. This just shows me that international platforms are as much to blame as knetizens. Park Min Young and her agency have already given their statements, but Koala chooses not to report it. If PMY does another LSK, pretty sure we will see a post on Koala blaming knetz and shedding crocodile tears. True hypocrisy!

  5. I don’t think she was innocent. She clearly knew a part of the story, her sister worked for him. Fortunately for her, he ex scammed and didn’t do drugs.

But now, it’s in the past, if Dispatch talks about it, they should have new informations not just release what the Police said it was ok.

      • I don’t create anything. She dated a guy who already had issues with the justice before for the same things. She didn’t just date him some days, it was a relationship important enough for her sister to work in his compagny. She got money on her account from him. Even if she didn’t use it, it’s weird.

Now, like I said, the police didn’t think it was important enough to get her prosecuted. So I don’t think dispatch should release it now if they don’t have anything new.

      • Well, she clearly didn’t date him for his looks so it’s all about the money. If he didn’t lavish her with stolen money, she would not have been so easy to get. Of course, she probably didn’t know he was a scammer as she would have wanted to date a real rich person and not a fake one.

    • @Sayaris, how do you know “she clearly knew a part of the story?” Proof? Can’t you keep your baseless speculation to yourself? As imperfect human beings, we all have our own thoughts and moments of judgment that do not necessarily reflect the reality. It’s fine to just keep that inner thinking to ourselves and do no harm to other human beings. But once you unzip your untrained mouth, whatever comes out of it may cause unexpected harm to another human being.

At a workplace, we definitely avoid hiring employees who can’t control their mouths to gossip ppl’s private life. This type of personality is unwelcome at workplace.

      • I always liked PMY because she was smart.

Her boyfriend already had issues with justice for the same doings. Her sister was working in one of his compagny.

So, yeah, I think she knew a part.

But I don’t think she should be cancelled for it. She dated a bad guy, it was a mistake, let’s move on.

  6. Her current drama is doing better than her project before the “scandal” . That’s what matters ! Not every actor, after a scandal ,has a project and even more a successfull one . she couldn’t ask for more .

  7. Ah, so all the suicides weren’t enough.

At what point will the death toll be before media say uh, maybe we shouldn’t? Oh I know. There is no such limit.

    • But the accusatory side did show proof (you can see the proof on the original article from dispatch).
PMY’s side has released an official statement in which her side has also admitted to receiving the money but that she has not used it for any personal related things.
So by law, it is actually PMY’s timing to counter this proof and back her claims.
1/ She could release the bank statements after the money was deposited and prove that none of the transactions that happened post-deposit are not related to personal spendings.
2/ Release a statement that she truly did not know her ex partner was a scammer and truthfully return the amount deposited back as it was scammed money and there are victims out there (this would definitely prove her genuineness in this case, however it would contradicts with her initial statement last year that there was no money received, but i feel that it would be okay, since dispatch has released the proof that indeed there was money deposited just now; so we know there was a contradiction in last year statement by now anyway)

Seeing how she posted on ig that “truth will prevail”, perhaps she is preparing the materials to counter all of these.
It would be sad for kdrama fans to not see have another PMY rom-coms, she always picks these fun projects and grace our screen.
She overcame last year bad press with a hit drama right now, so I really don’t think she would be cancelled.

  8. This is crazy. She is an actress. Her personal life is her decision. There seem to be people who like to throw stones. Is your life so clean? Have you never got involved with a jerk? Has every person you’ve ever dated been perfect? Have you never received gifts or money from the person you were dating? She broke up with him. She probably trusted her sister. I bet her sister never told her what she and the boyfriend were up to. Quit throwing stones. She has been investigated by the police. Why does she need to be judged by you? Go ahead and not like her and judge her all you want but remember what goes around comes around. You just go ahead and be as perfect as you think you are. I choose to enjoy PMY’s dramas. I pray she can stay strong and doesn’t let all these stones destroy her.

  9. The exact same situation happened with Anne Hathaway. She was dating a scam artist. He lavished her with gifts, luxury trips and then got caught by Feds….difference is, nobody in Hollywood blamed Anne for being in relationship with the wrong person. This is exactly what happened to Park Min Young. She dated somebody that committed crimes and decided to live lavishly with her while doing it. Btw, she didn’t use that money and prosecution cleared her because she had proved she never touched the money. So, hounding her, trying to shame her for being with the wrong person is absolutely bonkers. I hope she doesn’t budge and holds out strong.

    • THIS. PMY’s situation reminds me so much of what happened to Anne Hathaway. Anne was never cancelled or blamed for her ex-BF’s actions. So why the witch hunt for PMY? K-media just want to drag their celebs for the sake of selling a story. It’s all about the money. Hope PMY’s name is cleared. No one should be cancelled for dating the wrong person.

  10. What I find absolutely mind-boggling is why PMY would date that pot-bellied scammer ahjussi after the likes of lee min ho? Why Park Min Young, why?

    • You know, she has experienced all kind of handsome man. Maybe she looks for personality, we never know how that scammer woo her. I know chinese actress like qin lan or yang mi, dated someone like wei daxun who was not famous or handsome but humorous and funny

    • Are you saying a relationship should be based on LOOKS? How old are you? Maybe the scammer dude had other qualities she initially found attractive: money, charm, intelligence, etc. Even the most hardened criminals can be charming–that’s how they are able to pull off a crime.

Hopefully, she finds a good guy next time, regardless of looks OR money.

  11. Idk, Dispatch has proven themselves after the fifty fifty incident. The shady thing is that the money got transferred to her in 3 ways. Maybe she didn’t know about his shady business in the first place, but my question is how come this money was not said or exposed when she was first investigated? Unless she did mention it and the police just decided to close her case. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s going to happen next.

      • lol no wonder this celebs are confident enough to get themselves involved in shady activities when they got brainless people supporting them

      • @beth what the hell are you on about. The law is there to deal with them. Normal people like you who go around spreading gossip without providing facts and evidence is harmful. If there is a sentence then you can hold someone accountable, otherwise you’re just another asshole online

      • @beth, you keyboard nobody had better go out touching grass! Don’t you have anything better to do in real life other than prying celebrities’ private business? LOL.

There’re professionals like prosecutors and police who can handle any accused crimes of someone including PMY. Stop acting and talking as if you’re one of them knowing what’s going on. Even they know what’s going on, they shouldn’t disclose any information to the public before the case is brought to the court and get a verdict. A lot of drama fans including you just behave online like lawless nugus. LMAO.

  12. I mean…190k isn’t that much? For a celebrity, this is chump change. And if he had gifted her 190k, that’s between the two of them. If they had been married, then they’ll have conjoined finances and she can be responsible for what he’s scammed. But they weren’t married and it sounds like they’re financially independent for the most part.

    • @Coralie, I did a double check on the amount too…Even my hubby gives me more when we are dating…in turn I too spend money on him. She could also so do… what is 190k for this two people?? It is billions, the the matter will be bigger…and I bet she return the money as soon as she could.

      • We def didn’t give each other 190k when we were dating haha, but this amount isn’t life changing to us, and we’re just normal folks. So if the amount isn’t high, it’s even less for celebs, so not worthwhile to bring up. Even if she got gifted this much, it’s insignificant.

  13. I hope Koala updates more drama news than celebrity gossips. Too much tabloid-ish scandals and too little drama update. OK, others can protest me saying this is her blog blah blah blah. But seriously, I’m getting tired of goofing around frivolous rumors and scandals about celebrities themselves rather than drama updates. If the same pattern continues, I may just visit other SM such as Reddit Kdrama that has more information about dramas, not scandals.

  14. the real problem was she lied about the payment part at first. Earlier she said she received nothing but formal documents in court revealed the money was sent to her account indeed. And now she’s claiming that she know nothing about the money although it was sent to her OWN ACCOUNT.

Her fans should learn to accept facts rather than getting manipulated by their fav’s words.

    • I’m not her fan although I did enjoy some of her dramas. I believe many ppl visiting this blog aren’t her dedicated fan either. But I do care about social justice. And I think comments like yours on SM aren’t appropriate, only causing more harm to the society. All the accusations of her haven’t brought to the court yet. You busybodies should just leave her alone and mind your own business. LOL

  15. Geez, she didn’t even commit a crime and she’s still getting heat for it… this reminds me of the Nam Hyun Hee scandal just a little bit in the sense that Nam Hyun Hee allegedly turned off her common sense because anything is possible with chaebol wealth. I think Park Min Young probably did have some idea of what the boyfriend was doing since her sister also had a role in the scam and people who are stupid don’t tend to make it very far in showbiz. But no matter how many times she apologizes, it’s seemingly never enough for the mob… hope she stays strong.

  16. Does Dispatch want another suicide victim? Like they haven’t done enough damage with Lee Sun Kyun, they want to focus on another victim? Leave Park Min Young alone, she’s suffered enough and has gone through hell and back.

How about some wholesome news for a change instead of celebrity scandals or celebrity non-scandals? I don’t care about whether or not PMY bank accounts were used for fraudulent transactions by her boyfriend as long as she’s being investigated by the police, it really isn’t our business. For a change, please free us, the public from being the judge, jury and executioner of celebrities and give us some really good news to smile about.

  17. Y’all saying she knew a part, she was clearly investigated a year ago which was cleared up that she was innocent, don’t u think her bank account, statement even borrowed name wasn’t checked, is it until a celebrity dies that y’all will stop, I don’t just get it,knetz or whatever digging up this scandal again are definitely out to ruin her if I should say, When I saw her in love in contract she looked so sick I even got scared, she’s been stressed already My God, yes her sister worked for the man did you know her position in the company she could have been just an employee doing her Job without knowing what her boss is doing and when her sis started dating him she felt nothing was wrong with it. Ok again she’s an actress who knows the risk of scandals like this to her career do you think she will wake up one day and decide to date a swindler y’all use your brain 😒😒🤧🤧

  18. Honestly none of this is any of my business as a viewer and I’m tired of celebrity scandals. Let the investigation happen and then if a court finds her guilty then maybe I’ll read about that. After losing My Mister in an untimely and unnecessary death, I refuse to give attention to this crap. I’ll be watching Marry My Husband and supporting her instead of caring about this. I wish the media would leave her alone.

  19. Agree with others here, I wish Koala could focus on positive news and stop these witch hunting articles against poor celebs like Liu Yuning etc.

My Ahjushi actor took his own life due to all this media pressure and we do don’t more victims.

  20. Are the media already looking at another target ?!?!? Not only does she have to deal with the fact the man lied to her, and she lost a boyfriend, and had to get over that, now she has to deal with the media making it look like she was a bad person, when she herself was deceived!! What would people want her to do ? Give back the money she got ? This is just another repeating of Lee Sun Kun .
