Bank and Soju Brands Will Not Renew CF Contract with Han So Hee After Her Dating News with Ryu Jun Yeol

So a bank and a soju brand separately have CF contracts expiring with K-actress Han So Hee right now and both have said it will not renew with her and are looking for a new star to rep the brand. This is not a contract cancellation so for now it does not appear that Han So Hee is being actively punished for dominating the week’s news cycle over her dating fellow actor Ryu Jun Yeol and her commentary and reaction to his ex-girlfriend Hyeri‘s SNS post. But she definitely is passively losing her portfolio of CF endorsements and could lose more. K-netizens are mostly not liking her reaction and actions, that it shows immaturity and messiness. I am more curious whether the upcoming K-drama Delusion that was slated to star Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol will still go forward with them two as the leads and how that will be received. I guess it depends on when it arrives on the small screen, farther out the better I think.

Bank and Soju Brands Will Not Renew CF Contract with Han So Hee After Her Dating News with Ryu Jun Yeol — 50 Comments

    • You seriously? She did literally nothing, no crime or something like that, why are you making a big deal because of couple post on Instagram?

      • A dog with knife pic shading/mocking hyeri it NOT nothing. Hansohee showed her true colors yikes! Sad for her fans.

      • I’m not her fan, I’m just think you’re overreacting because of a pic a dog with a knife. Do you really think she physically threatened Hyeri? Go touch the grass, it’s just a mem 🙄

      • Yes, she didn’t do any crime, and no one is saying she did, but she should’ve known how these things work. Advertisers, brands, companies, etc. only care about money, and they don’t want anyone messy representing their brand. Han So Hee can be as “genuine” and “authentic” and “real” as she wants, but don’t be surprised when brands don’t want to work with her anymore lol.

Is it fair? Probably not, but that’s how business works, they want squeaky-clean brand representatives so these conservative Koreans will actually want to buy their sh*t lol

      • I’m not surprised at all how this business works. I’m surprised by crazy comments in the internet, when people judging her like she did some crime

    • Huh? When did she get convicted of murder or charged with taking drugs? I guess falling in love can get you convicted now.

    • @beez

Serious question though, did she break a law? Y’all make it sound like she killed someone when really you’re getting worked up on a photo of a dog holding a knife? Okie. LOL. Didn’t know you can get so triggered, jeez. She’s human, I give her a pass on defending herself from crazy fans. I’d like to know how you react to being called a home wrecker. Don’t tell you’d be chill as hell cause I know that’s a freakin’ lie.

      • You are putting words in my mouth. I never said anything that you claim i think about (killing, physical threat, etc.)
        1. Hansohee shading/mocking hyeri when the latter did nothing to her is immature. Hansohee even admitted that it was wrong of her to do that
        2. She showed her true colors coz now we know she can be uncontrollable and crazy. She has million followers and brand deals that are hugely dependent on her on how she controls her image. I worked in marketing and uncontrollable celebs like her are a big no-no as endorser.
        3. Fans are downplaying what she did. Her ig post blew up the issue and fans are too defensive to admit that she deserves all the public scrutiny now.

      • @Beez

You don’t claim the photo HSH uploaded didn’t trigger you? Oh I think it did, that’s why you gave it as an example above.

Both of these girls were throwing shade at each other. One responded in a more aggressive way, fans made it worse, I see that. Both very immature. Probably why they both issued apologies because emotions took control of the situation. I’m not blaming one or the other in this situation because what I see is, if one didn’t start it, nothing worse would of came out of it.

If these are HSH’s true colors, thank God she ain’t hiding behind a current of rainbows and sunshine. She’s able to be honest with herself and defend herself from cruel accusations. Look at Western celebs, most of them are where they are because they ARE uncontrollable. They ain’t taking crap from people, about time some Korean celebs do the same thing since their fan culture is so toxic.

      • “These girls throwing shade at each other.” Even though I think Hyeri shouldn’t have made that post, Hyeri was not throwing shade at HSH. She was throwing shade at her ex and then unfollowed him. Why is that so hard to understand?

But I agree with you that HSH does not deserve the hate she’s getting. She reacted like a human being that was falsely accused by fans of being a third party. People need to stop expecting celebrities to be perfect.

      • @Absurd

As a random person, I can read this story a different way, so does many other people. This is why there is disagreements. That’s the tragedy of social media. I understand where you’re coming from though, Hyeri’s maybe throwing shade at her ex but do we know HSH knew this? Or did she not know and in that moment felt so cornered because people were accusing her left and right, she just posted a story? There is so many ways this can go and again, we are all assuming here. So to be deeming one is better then the other or one should lose their work compared to the other is pretty ridiculous.

      • @Voo that’s your opinion and that’s fine. I don’t want to argue endlessly on this so it’ll be the last time I post. To me it’s a no brainer Hyeri was shading her ex. It’s also a no brainer that HSH isn’t a bad person. You don’t need to defend HSH to me. I don’t think any less of her or that what she did was outrageous. Other than being extremely better looking than most other people on this earth, she’s human just like any of us.

    • Advertisers don’t like such pictures …. If the celebrity wanna post any pictures they like, then don’t need to cater for what advertisers want. Just be an actress with no CF value. Anyway people might be forgetful and she may get other contracts later…..

  1. Jeez. I wonder who’s fueling these news behind the scenes? What should’ve been a one paragraph forgotten article is now full blown front and center in all major k-news blogs and gossip rags. The whole thing is so freaking boring, or shall we say much ado about nothing? I wonder what the real scandal is that the media is trying to cover up by focusing on two actresses fighting over a man. Next!!!

If anyone hasn’t noticed, this is the second overblown dating “scandal” in the past few weeks that is being orchestrated to coverup some major scandal somewhere. Which we will never know because the media likes to follow like sheep and focus on trivial stuff instead of real news, lol.

      • I beg to disagree. They are covering something up. Nothing on a celebrity’s social media is worth the amount of time, money and speculation this bit of crap is getting.

      • Which is nothing, lol there’s nothing important about two girl offending each other because of a guy. Getting things blown up this much is sus

  2. It’s so weird to me that Asian celebrities can’t date, even when they’re 30. Endorsements get dropped, fans get to judge, etc. The dude here seems to be coasting by unnoticed.

      • Girl. You’re answering every post like you’re her personal bodyguard. Chill. They are three thirty year old adults. They’ll be fine without you.

      • Too clever! HSH should have just kept quiet and called him to handle it if the issue got bigger. Not a fan of hers, but sad to see that she’s tanking her career over a guy like that.

  3. If the drama is good , i think that it will not affect the ratings . Netizens will be curious to see the “reel / real” couple who may broke up even before it aired . Not renewing the contracts may be also because they fear the fact that she could be a problem someday if she acts recklessy again . Sad but it’s all about image and korean celebrities know the rules . Nothing changed since the past years .

    • I agree, all celebs have a public image, they make most money from CFs. These money that they earn is based on their image and Brand. I see no wrong if the company decide to drop those they feel is no longer suitable.

Reminds me of Kanya West…To be he is a sh*t sexist man but Adidas still worked with him for many years. Both making lots of money together…till he opes his mouth and insult the Jews. That is the bottom lie. Money ca be loss but insult cannot be tolerated.

in Asia, artiste gets away with much less…i fact they rarely get away with any bad press…Any taint will result in lossing CFs. Such are facts.

      • I remember John Galliano was fired from his role as creative director at Dior after antisemic comments , at that time Natalie Portman was already the muse of Miss Dior !!! For Europeans HSH’s dating scandal is nothing but she is a korean celebrity ! I will not criticize because it’s their culture ! We Europeans are more tolerant, we prefer harassing Princess Kate !!!

      • @Cahill, I feel very bad about Princess Kate… Just a photo that she tried the edit…and she is hounded. Goodness… I am speechless.

Do you know, I really love John Galliano with Dior…he is one of my favourite designer alive of this era. But his words tank his career… Maria Grazia Chiuri is not bad. Her Power women concept is drawing a new audience towards Dior which is a good marketing strategy. But as a designer, she does not have the flair Galliano has. Just my opinion…no offense to anyone else.

  4. What a crazy culture. Any scandal is frowned at. Even when it is their personal life. The guy involved with both ladies is busy enjoying himself and nobody seems to remember him for sanctions. No wonder most of the Asian celebs live under pretence just to conform to the laid out standard.

    • The guy is the smartest of the three of them. He is the only one who understand what he shouldn’t explain his personal life to some strangers in the internet just to please their curiosity.

  5. I still don’t understand why you guys still think it about dating ==

It about her who straight it rude to her sunbae-nim, post ‘it fun TOO’ with dog knife when Hyeri didnt even name anyone.

I think you should understand that in South Korea, junior-senior really strict. Even some new idol got critize because they didnt great senior, let alone doing something like her -_-”

It also not the first time, HSH doing something considered rude (controversial) but her career are okay. So i think she will get away sooner or later.

    • Also why her CF not renew their contract mainly not because her dating, but the way she handle it. As an Korean actress she should let here PR team do their job rather than handle it alone.

    • THIS. there are news now that she is in cahoots with her friend journalist from dispatch. Yikes. She should stop all this manipulative media play and lie low for a while.

      Sad for her fans.

      • Suspect so coz the Dispatch and other news outlet was trying to justify the timeline of breakup/estrangement. And even requested readers to support the couple. It’s so PR. Just to rescue her career and CF contracts. Seriously lost respect for Dispatch and these news portals. Hyeri was nice enough not to put any blame on HSH, so its disgusting of them trying to paint the ex GF in a bad light.

    • Gosh, it’s just a pic, why are you all reacting like she did something very evil?
Oh my god, dog with a KNIFE, it’s so dangerous, she can kill somebody!🙄

And why do you care about that “junior-senior” shit, even koreans often show in their dramas that this culture behaviour is sucks

    • Lol, Sohee also didn’t name anyone.
It’s just a mem pic, why are all of you make a big deal about it?
And “junior-senior” is korean thing that sometimes get teased even in korean dramas.
If some korean netizens judging someone for this, it doesn’t mean that a whole world should agree with this

  6. I read a recent article from Korea that no one’s getting married anymore. LMAO. This is proof why no wants to fall in love or get married. The relationship between two people affects everyone in Korea…how? Why? Sure, I get saving face is a big deal in Asia but when your population’s probably killing itself, lose the freakin’ pride. Let people be people.

I feel sorry for HSH because she seems to be getting the worst reaction from this. If anyone called you a homewrecker (when you really ain’t) it can make you defensive no matter who you are. To get backlash for protecting yourself and being in love, that’s too harsh. Have they not learned from the rate of suicides among K-celebs? SMH. I don’t even know what to say anymore.

    • I completely agree with you. I was wondering how it’s big news, is that Korea lacks serious economic, political or social issues? Things must be really great in Korea to make Han so Hee their problem. I hope she comes out of this stronger, I’ll be rooting for her. Maybe she made mistakes in handling it, forgive her humanity. Well I guess the companies have the right to renew, I just pray no firm terminates their contract with her, Han so hee fighting!!! Na love you love So Hee, you nor kill person

  7. I beg to disagree. They are covering something up. Nothing on a celebrity’s social media is worth the amount of time, money and speculation this bit of crap is getting.

    • Lol you underestimate how people love drama 😂

It’s not some conspiracy theory, people are just invested in things like this, always have been, because they love drama. Ain’t that deep 🤷🏻‍♀️

  8. I have been in Han SoHee’s situation (going out with a dude after he had a longtime relationship) and I know perfectly well that people will always be after the woman and call her names before placing any sort of responsibility on the man. Almost like he can’t make decisions on his own. Life is messy. But her being a public figure and responding in a passive-aggressive post to the ex-gf was not something she should’ve done and well, her reputation is gonna take a blow, especially because she lives in a place like Korea.
But I believe this isn’t something people should cancel her over, and I hope she can bounce from this eventually. I’m not a fan and haven’t seen any of her dramas, but I know of her life struggles and her career should not be over because of a relationship.

  9. The contracts ended before her dating messiness last week. The disrespectful and rash way she handled things plus her possibly intoxicated behaviour at another event a few weeks ago meant that the companies decided she wasn’t worth extending or renegotiating a contract with. There are better and more popular celebrities with no messiness they can sign to represent their brands instead.

Her acting career is a bubble. She is a poor actress and has no eye for scripts. Despite the media play that she is a “top actress” she has not led any successful dramas or films. She is still most known for her breakout role playing the mistress in ‘World of the Married’ four years ago. Her brand is now only about her looks and her controversies.

  10. If I were the executives of the companies she endorsed, I wouldn’t renew her endorsements either. If she were on our job market looking for a position, I wouldn’t interview her either. It’s not about who’s to blame in this private mess. It’s about personality, maturity, and even sanity of a person who can handle frustration and stress at work or not. Yes, as many commenters already pointed out, HSH presented herself in a negative way. If I were her boss or coworker, I’d have concern about her ability to deal with undesirable situations at work. Some folks said that’s her private life and she’s entitled to date anyone and then rant on SM. LOL. They forgot a celeb’s SM isn’t her private space off screen. She continues to showcase her public image once she gets on a public SM and ramble crap there. In other words, a celeb’s open accounts on SM are the extension of their workspace. BE PROFESSIONAL WHEN YOU ARE AT WORK! LOL. We all want our employees or coworkers to be professional in public space at work, to be level-headed, calm, emotionally neutral, and not giving middle fingers when facing conflicts or get offended. HSH just showed the opposite of what an employer expected from employees and coworkers expected from colleagues. The companies hired and paid HSH to promote their brands/products. They are her boss in a sense in terms of the contracts they agreed upon. It makes sense for the companies to just discontinue the business relationships with such an immature damsel. Who would want to be her boss or coworkers? LOL.

At workplace, attitude, not talent, prevails most of the time. HSH needs to learn.

    • Thank you! Finally, someone who knows how these things work. Yes, people can think it’s unfair or not proportional to what she did, but business is business, these companies and brands are only after money and so they don’t want anyone with controversies representing their brand, they don’t want anyone unpredictable as brand ambassadors because who knows what cr*p these unpredictable people will pull in the future that will affect their brand? It’s really as simple as that, so I don’t understand the comments here saying they don’t understand why this is happening when it’s “jUsT a WoMaN dAtInG!” No, the issue is NOT just that she dated someone, and people should stop pretending like it is lol. Just shows how many commenters here don’t know how the things work in real life

  11. And Hyeri gets exactly what she wanted, the vindictive little trash. She wanted to hurt her and HSH fell for it.

Please don’t bother with me Hyeri stans, her little angel act is not something I buy.

    • What comes around goes around. The same public hailing her today can suddenly turn around and crucify her. I’ve seen it happen too many times. Gu Hye Sun is a good example, the former idol Minah is another, another one is Hwayoung, who is a talented actress but no one will touch her now that the truth of Tara’s bullying scandal was finally revealed. She should’ve bitten the bullet and settled things privately without the social media drama. She’s going to regret exposing her relationship to the whole of South Korea and beyond, lol.

Smart celebrities never open their mouths. They just ride the maelstrom until the public loses interest and move onto something else.
