So this may be worse than the blind leading the blind, it’s sharpshooter leading two blind people lol. A new romance period C-drama is being cast 怎敌她千娇百媚 which is called How to Defeat the Refined Her but the literal title translates to How to Resist Her Thousand Charms and Hundred Flirtations. Basically the female lead is a total femme fatale/goddess type. The male lead has been confirmed as Fang Yi Lun (Allen Fang) for weeks now but unfortunately he’s getting two very weak actresses as his leads. Lin Yun (Jelly Lin) is the female lead with troll producer Yu Zheng’s latest protege Zhao Qing as the second female lead. The ladies are pretty but I have low expectations on the level of acting that can be expected. At least Fang Yi Lun gets his much deserved big male lead step up here.

Man is like Liu Xueyi (super talented and handsome) but get the short end of the stick when it comes to acting projects. That’s a shame.

As for Lin yun, she pouts all the time. Her facial gestures are always the same. Crybaby face. She hasn’t improve at all … her acting is far worse than Ju Jingyi. At least JJY is pretty, acts sensible without annoying gestures.
Agree with you. I thought Zhao Qing was incredibly boring/bland in Scent of Time.
Lin Yun does have a natural pouty face. I heard she was good in Imperfect Victim, but I didn’t see it. I was not terribly impressed with her in Dream of Splendor.

Jelly Lin acts the same in all her dramas….her co-star in Dream of Splendour, Crystal Liu, really surprised me coz her mannerism, gestures, speech and acting were different from her previous characters.
Allen Fang gave a sensitive and layered performance in The Long Ballad. So I am happy for him.
Gosh FYL is so handsome and talented but dang he has the worst luck. I actually think Lin Yun is very pretty but she just lacks charm. I really hope this turns out to be a surprising good drama.
I’ve only seen Jelly Lin in A Dream of Splendor and had heard of her bad acting rep but I was pleasantly surprised I thought she was pretty good acting as a spoiled/ jealous beautiful lady. I’m not completely dismissing this yet.
Alen Fang is one of the examples of lacking connections and backing that’s also why we are seeing so many untalented, ugly, boring, and embarrassing MLs in C dramas. Same goes for actresses.
