So this is really recent airing scheduling change rumors but we should know in the next week or two whether it’s going to happen or not. Tang dynasty drama The Story of Pearl Girl with Zhao Lu Si and Liu Yu Ning was slated for a Q4 2024 basically end of year airing which fits with the filming and post-production time line for a big budget drama. But this week word on the street is that it’s being moved up to air next month in August on Youku after the Olympics is done. If the post production is done then there is no reason it can’t air earlier but August is that odd time where it feels like even viewers are lazing away in the dog days of summer and sometimes dramas have a hard time generating traction that month. Let’s wait and see, but I for one welcome the arrival of this drama earlier rather than later.

I am interested in this drama...as I am keen to watch how these 2 artistes have grown since their first drama together. But I am not a fan of dramas that are too gruesome...

I'd rather wait and let them spend more time on post production to come out with an excellent product, than rush through post production and give us a mediocre product.
The last aired drama 'The Princess Royal' is proof of what happens when dramas rush through post production - the result is adequate, rather than stellar.
I totally agree. I feel The Royal Princess would have benefited so much from more careful post production.
They always do this when it’s Lusi’s drama they rush it in post production, why can’t they just take their time to make sure it’s really good instead of half-baked. It’s barely been how many months since this was finished. In as much as I wanna see another of her dramas, I’d rather wait for quality, not that her acting ever disappoints and looks like the storyline is very interesting as well
With china’s cancel culture, i am glad they are airing as soon as possible. No need to wait, you never know who is going to be cancelled next or any new regulations

I really love watching Zhao Lu Si. She's a great actress. The Last Immortal and Hidden Love are my favourite. I am really looking forward to her upcoming dramas.

I read that's why the Princess Royal director moved so fast to air that drama. He had Legend of Ba Qing, which had that actor with the scandal in Australia and Fan BingBing. He also had Jade Lovers with Zheng Shuang. Forever shelved.
I doubt this will air in August, it hasn't even pass distribution lincenses reviews yet to even know the amount of episodes that is agreed on. Until that this drama is not airing anytime soon.
Yeeeess!! Hope they acted their hearts out. I never have confidence in Chinese scripts until the very last episode anyways (which usually falters 😅). Just want to see them be compelling in their character portrayals and their scenes together.
Their last few episodes to the end always lack something 😔 , I don't know if it deliberate or they just dont know to properly conclude their shows especially the custom dramas, they r always at a disadvantage to this problem.
I think it’s the whole drama system + limitations from censorship. Can a writer actually tell the story they want to allllll the way through without 50 other voices involved? Probably not. Productions just aren’t that ambitious because of money too. What dramas out there aren’t from novels? Lol. I’m always surprised when actually original stories fend well, and even more so when they have fitting ends. I hope we get something solid this year!
