So award winning K-actress Park Eun Bin has been inked for her next drama for some time now but now her male lead has floated to the surface. Cha Eun Woo has been offered the role and his agency says he’s considering but I can’t see how he would pass on this. The drama is called The Wonder Fools (original title The B Team) and is about a ragtag group of heroes who don’t know when their superpower will suddenly show up and then disappear. This sounds quirky and cool and obviously the superhero genre in K-drama land has a Northstar to match up to with Moving but there is plenty of runway to attempt new stories within.

I hope she can soften Cha Eun Woo and get him to fully relaxed as he acts… He is not great in romance genre.
I am interested in this chemistry.
While I don’t think CEW has any talent when it comes to acting he does seem to be smart in picking projects that don’t revolve around his character. His filmography is sufficiently varied and it’s good to see him branching out and bringing in extra buzz to every project. PEB is finally getting the right scripts and while Castaway Diva was painfully dull and more violent than I expected to be it’s good to see her explore her singing career because of it. Hyper Knife and this both sound more interesting than EAW S2 to be honest. Let’s not drag out a drama for the sake of it.
You know it’s so interesting you say that because now I think about it even though he technically has leading man status, when looking at his filmography I realised he is mostly playing supporting roles as the actual story revolves around another character.
Why is she always paired with non actors? I wish she was paired with actors like Kim Soo Hyun.
You mean idol actors? I don’t realy mind them as long as they have decent acting skills.
I see what you’re trying to do. LOL. This is a weak bait.
Ahhh I just realized lol, the kim soo hyun mention was so random ahhahah
Anyway if you count every kpop gen, then uhm junghwa and jang nara is also idol actors. If they don’t have acting skills, their career would be on dust when they become older
WHY KSH is a taboo to mention? Isn’t he an actor? LOL
How comical!
What bait? I mentioned KSH because I like him as an actor and I would like to see him with PEB. Both are a competent actors ans would suit each other. PEB always get paired with younger actors instead of senior actors which I don’t like.
How is that bait? PEB worked with KSH in a cf and secretly greatly and they were cute. She also mentioned in her interview he’s her ideal mean. She was also nearly cast for QOT, I’m sure there were schedule conflicts . But it’s a what if, ksh needs to work with actresses of his calibre and I feel him and PEB would complement well.
In all dramas I saw Cha Eun Woo his acting was decent. His last drama got a lot of praises. Sometimes I think people who criticise his acting didn’t even watch his dramas, or they more probably criticise his choices to agree on similar roles.
Anyway, about The Wonder Fools, I don’t like superhero topic and not a fond of writer’s last drama Gyeongseong Creature. But Park Eun Bin and Cha Eun Woo tandem looks interesting and made me wonder how they would look together as co-stars, so now I want to watch first episodes.
I feel when Cha Eun Woo is relax with the cast, I can watch his dramas.
@Olesya1…script writer is honestly more important to me than the actors being casted in kdrama and Gyeongseong Creature was such a snooze to me that am like wary at this project despite the show’s concept being a fresh twist on the super hero genre
@HL by relaxing do you mean working with veteran actors or with cast his age?
@Olesya1, Both actually. I personally dont think Cha Eun Woo enjoys romancing roles very much. I feel he enjoys working with more experience artistes, they make him feel more relaxed and will get into his role better.
But Park Eu Bin may be different. Depending on the story, romance is not likely the main course, it is more about individual self discovery, working as a team and building friendship. Romance may be a side dish.
Cha Eun Woo is use to working with similar age artiste as a dance/dancer.. he is no stranger working with big groups for his concerts thus he is a warm and sociable guy.
Just acting one to one with another idol actress…he does looks awkward.
Just based on my observation of him as a actor and singer…
@R Agree, writer is more important, although pd and actors can fix some things or to make a drama look better by their chemistry.
I looked writer and director’s others works, and they both worked on Dr. Romantic 1,2,3. I heard a lot about that drama, but didn’t watch it, so now wondering if writer’s others dramas better, or they’re like GC.
@HL Hmm, interesting. Wonderful World and The Wonder Fools(probably) not romance dramas, so maybe he started to move away from romantic roles.
I think there may be other actors in the main roles, since drama is about superheroes. It will be interesting to see the final cast and how they will work together.
I heard people say he truly improved with his role in Wonderful World.
@Mia, yes, and his co-star was not just anyone, but actress Kim Nam Joo. If he could act good next to her and his acting didn’t look bad, then I’m sure he can do it with Park Eun Bin.
Terrible casting news!
I’m sure I’m a fan of KEB after watching Attorney Woo, Castaway Diva (which is a wonderful drama that I love very much), and Hot Stove League (also a great drama, one of my all-time favorite). She’s perhaps my fave actress since Gong Hyo Jin. This news of CEW possibly as her ML is a bummer to her fans. LOL. But it’s a fantasy and super hero genre that perhaps doesn’t require subtle acting. I’ll be open minded and surely will watch it regardless of who ends up being the ML.
Be Open minded is good. Park Eun Bin will gain alot working with him…his does draw viewership. so even if he may not be as good as Park Eun Bin in acting, she can gain alot from him involvement in the drama.
I find his acting stiff until Wonderful world in which he improved thanks to Kim Nam Joo . I think that he needs to work with veteran actors and Park Eun Bin is in the field since years . But let’s be honest, without his visuals he wouldn’t get lead roles ! Some idols have a good potential to become good actors others not . I’m still septic about the cast but i always give a try .
I’m still wating for @Koala to post about Is it a coincidence ? drama . I watch it and have mixed feelings !
@Somebody , Happy that you liked Hot Stove League , great drama and i’m not into sports at all !
I’m not into sports either although I’m somehow familiar with baseball rules thanks to Taiwan. I’d say HSL is my favorite drama of Nam Goong Min so far (although I’m still exploring NGM’s old dramas) and one of my all time favorite dramas. To be my all-time favorite, it must be unique without any bit copying from anything else and have all the good things to say about acting, script, and directing.
Well…I can’t say this casting news thrills me but the director is good so possibly he can tease a good performance out of CEW. I noticed the description of the character CEW is playing is that he has “no social skills” so it sounds like he will play his usual cold, aloof handsome role which is certainly within his capabilities. As others have said this will be an ensemble drama with PEB leading so I think he will be OK as he won’t have to do too much heavy lifting in the acting department.
The plot also reminds me a bit of The Uncanny Counter series.
Hum… I had to wait for the middle of Wonderful World to see him acting well, it’s kinda sad because the story was more interesting in the first hald. He was pretty bad in A Good Day to Be a Dog.
I would prefer another actor with PEB.
Park Eun Bin should be paired with the likes of Jung Hae in, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Jae wook, Lee Junho to match her acting prowess, not Cha Eun woo, he acts like wood.
