So director Guo Jing Ming is famous for his works focusing more on visuals and aesthetics over all else. If he’s lucky and has a compelling story and good actors then it works like My Journey to You, but most of his stuff just comes off as empty but pretty. He’s planning to make the C-drama version of Painted Skin, the C-movie that deals with the Chinese horror folklore about a woman demon who wears painted human skin and has lined up his cast in talks. The original movie he also remade into a short form C-movie that came out in 2019 so he’s adapting his own version. The female leads will be Ju Jing Yi, Chen Du Ling, and Peng Xiao Ran, and the male lead is Zeng Shun Xi. This story is highly female character centric and the male lead is just there to be pulled and pushed in different directions with the ladies. No word on when this goes into production.

I love JJY and Joseph …. They had good chemistry in The Rebirth. It would be interesting to see her acting in a more challenging capacity than her usual sensible and intelligent next door girl types.
I like Peng Xiao Ran but I find her taking similar roles lately. Strong woman type. Her mannerism and gestures slightly tomboyish and it’s just a little bit out of character for ancient Chinese dramas who are usually deeply trained in etiquette ….
Sigh…. Chen Du Ling… I think she is very lucky to get lead roles in ancient Chinese drama series which places very high standards on beauty… she must be under a super good agency
Am I the weird one? But I like chen duling in her debut movie left ear. I don’t really watch cdrama these days so I don’t watch her work, but she did look stunning in the still for that drama with fang in the title, with her face smeared with blood. I think she has that good girl or good wife type of beauty, and it creates this uncanny sense when she plays bad character

She is the better actress but doesnt have the backing or popularity. Its no different from the rumors of Ding Yuxi playing second to Yang Yang. This project might be good for PXR if she is casted since she needs to garner more interest. She's an older actress and is running out of time to turn her career around.

Joseph Zeng reminds me of Wu Jinyan, both are decent actors but when they're called pretty or beauty, it's funny because it seems East Asians are lacking. They're not: big heads, faces without harmony and proportion. They are a joke when putting next to actually attractive co-stars. She in particular looks hideous in The Double next to Yang Chao Yue, Ai Mi, Joe Chen, Wang Xing Yue.
