C-actress Zhao Jin Mai Celebrates 22nd Birthday with Multiple Dramas Lined Up to Air Next Year
It’s been a great two years for Zhao Jin Mai, with many of her recently aired dramas from Reset to Amidst a Snowstorm of Love and The Princess Royal all sold hits. Plus she has big dramas on deck with Drifting Away and Our Generation and recently landed soon to start filming drama Blazing Sunlight. All of this is to say I can’t believe she’s just turning 22 years old, she’s already done so much and her future looks even brighter among her generation of young actresses. Youth and opportunity dims with time so keep on working hard during this prime time.

Happy birthday to pretty and talented Zhao Jin Mai!!! She was also in an underrated show The Blessed Girl (2021) and had good chemistry with Lin Yi.
Yes I saw some postings super critical of all actresses. Nobody is good enough for them. From Zhao Lu Si to Zhao Jin Mai. Not sure why the others think she is not a capable actress. I think they are just haters of 99% C-ent actors and actresses. Or they just wanna see their favorite star act in ALL the dramas.
She’s great! Is there room for improvement? Yes. But that’s the case with every actor. I’m impressed by how varied her roles have been at such a young age.
Some people act like there should just be like 1-2 acceptable actresses in all of cdramaland female-leading each of the hundreds of dramas china airs in a year.

Didn’t know she was this young! She’s a talented actress with such a beautiful unique face. Definitely the one to watch amongst her peers. Particularly love her voice and the way she speaks.

So Amidst A Snowstorm of Love and The Royal Princess were hits? I thought (based on comments on this blog) that they underperformed. Anyone know how well they worked domestically?
Ask koala, there are shows that performed the same way as these shows u mentioned and she considers them as flop or mediocre. So I guess it depends on the leads 😆
Koala obviously favors ZJM over some other actresses. I watched most of ZJM’s dramas and found her serviceable but overrated. The only drama of hers I got to finish nonetheless trying very hard was AASoL for Wu Lei’s sake. The drama was a huge disappointment, badly written and lazily directed. Both WL and ZJM are boring in the drama.
Per what I read from Weibo and many Cdrama rating sites, AASoL and TRP aren’t considered hits at all. The dramas might have topped the chart at the moments they were airing just because of no competitions at the same time. But looking at the hot indexes and viewership, receptions of the dramas were pedestrian at best.
Hits on numbers but not so much on long lasting heat nor critics. Even the numbers things can be debatable : Yunhe viewership was forgettable to say the least

She was 19 when Reset was aired in 2022. Not sure when it was filmed.
Ai Mi was 13 but paired with Wang Hong Yi when they filmed Who Rules the World. Huangyang Tian Tian was 15 but paired with Zhang Jing Yun when they filmed Love in a Dream. Women’s younger age is very important in their culture according to my mainland Chinese friends. That is why you generally see FL being 15 and ML being 20 something in many plots.
Loved the actors in Snow Storm, but I agree it’s such a super slow series. I am having trouble finishing it, even when fast forwarding through slow parts. It’s all slow parts lol.
I think she is a great actress. Very cute and watchable unlike some who are so annoying. I hope they trash baby voices from all dramas. So not cute.
I love her. First saw her in the a little thing called first love. I love that her voice is natural not annoying. She’s also beautiful and such a versatile actress. I loved ASSOL it was slow but there’s not extra drama no bad ex no crazy mama. It was refreshing. Both did so well. Wu lei and her. I also love reset and one week friends and even Growing pains. She acts maturely for her age which is surprising that she’s so young. But she was also a child actress right so I guess she’s developed talent and skills over the years of experience
