Tang Dynasty C-drama Kill My Sins with Liu Shi Shi and Shawn Dou Premieres Today on February 7th
So earlier this week I already covered the news that xianxia C-drama Love of the Divine Tree with Deng Wei was confirmed to air on February 7th this Friday on iQiyi. A few days later Youku announced that it was airing Tang dynasty C-drama Kill My Sins with Liu Shi Shi, Shawn Dou, and Zheng Ye Cheng also on February 7th. You’d think there was only one day per month networks can premiere a C-drama lol. This would be the third time in three months a Tang dynasty C-drama is going head-to-head on premiere date and airing schedule with a xianxia C-drama – in November it was The Story of Pearl Girl with Zhao Lu Si against Love Game in Eastern Fantasy with Yu Shu Xin and that round went to the xianxia drama, then in January Yang Zi had Flourished Peony airing the same day as Bai Lu in Moonlight Mystique and that round went to the Tang dynasty drama. Now we have to wait and see whether viewers fall for Kill My Sins or Divine Tree more, and for viewers uninterested in how dramas fare there is still a win as it just means more dramas to pick from to watch.

Preview for Kill My Sins:
This is a no brainer for me. I’m definitely checking out Liu Shishi and Dou Xiao’s drama. I also have a soft spot for Zheng Yecheng and Xuan Lu. If the xianxia has good word of mouth, I can always watch later!
I am not into Shawn dou…. But I like the other two Liu Shi
shi (looking fresh and beautiful in the poster) and Zheng ye cheng. Xuan Lu is a bit of hit and miss for me. Not sure whether I will check it out. I’ve yet to watch some dramas this past two months.
Between the two shows airing at the same time, I will be watching Xuanxia starring Julia Xiang and Deng wei. I think it’s good to see new pairing so I thought if checking it out first.
Though I like Liu Shi Shi, I think Shawn Dou’s actings appear the same in most of his shows: rebellious, arrogant, playboy, ambitious, ruthless which don’t quite resonate with me. I can understand the scripts require those characteristics and he should be a good actor to portray all that. It’s just that I don’t particularly warm up to him.
At least they didn’t go with the authentic elaborate hairdos/wigs on the ladies. Looking at them, my neck always hurts
, esp. with gigantic flowers and humongous ornaments!
Ep 1 and 2 are packed with infos and characters which may need a rewatch to understand the many players while we start to understand the backstory of the leads in ep 4 and 5 and why the title is called Kill My Sins.
I thought no brainer for me to like LSS’ drama better too. But heck the first ep of KMS took me right into a rabbit hole; I was lost so much that I decided to drop it. Both LSS and SD are solid actors but they had no chemistry from the get-go.
LotDT, however, was good…..SO FAR LOL. I thought xianxia was already beyond remedy. LotDT is a pleasant surprise though. Both ML and FL have good acting and chemistry in LotDT. Specifically the acting and the natural looks of the FL, Julia Xiang, are so refreshing compared with other more popular old faces of all the leading ladies in C-ent. She’s one of the reasons I binged 5 eps straight. I had never been a fan of DW. I didn’t get his visual nor acting in Lost You Forever. That said, his acting is good and convincing in LotDT. He is pretty but how I wish his jawline and lips could look less PS; it’s distracting sometimes. LOL.
Fans might not have expected this. The ratings of these two dramas are on par with LotDT having a bit edge over the other one.
I will definitely check out Liu Shi Shi’s drama once more episodes have aired. Deng Wei’s drama however… I am very hesitant to try watching that one.
Tried watching it until ep 5 but unfortunately dropped it. The plot was confusing. LSS’ acting was the same as her previous drama. Shawn Duo wasnt bad. The rest were so so.
