Yoo Yeon Seok and Jung Kyung Ho to Make Guest Starring Appearance in tvN K-drama Resident Playbook Tentatively Scheduled for April 2025 Release
Last year all of K-netizens hated doctors in real life after the doctor strike so even medical K-dramas got delayed from premiere due to the anticipated backlash. The most high profile being Resident Playbook with Go Yoon Jung leading a cast of young stars all playing med school residents in the same medical universe as the veteran doctors from hit drama Hospital Playlist. It’s been a year since and the backlash has died down as attention has moved on to other topics so tvN has scheduled Resident Playbook to premiere in April 2025 so in two months. This week it’s announced that Yoo Yeon Seok and Jung Kyung Ho, two of the leads from Hospital Playlist, will be making guest starring appearances in Resident Playbook, which honestly is way more exciting then anticipation over the drama itself lol. The timing for RP couldn’t be better what with Yoo Yeon Seok’s mega buzzy personal popularity book with recently aired drama When the Phone Rings as well as Netflix getting a major hit with medical K-drama Trauma Code: Heroes on Call last month. All bodes well for RP when it airs.
YYS’ cameo in RP was most likely filmed long before he filmed WTPR. He’s definitely reaping benefits now as he has just filmed a cameo in Go Minsi Kang Haneul’s cooking drama Tastefully Yours in Japan a few weeks ago. Even the recent Trauma Code had a scene in which his HP character Dr Ahn Jeongwon a pediatric doctor was announced in the hospital PA system where Ju Ji Hoon’s character works. This is meta parody at it’s best. It would be hilarious if YYS makes a cameo in Trauma Code S2 as Dr Kang Dongjoo too.
YYS is on a career high finally going viral for a drama where he gets the girl in the end lol. He’s a great actor so I’m happy for him and his presence definitely gives this drama a much needed boost.
Honestly was hoping the whole gang would cameo. But 2 over nothing is still way better lol. Anyway echoing the sentiment that the cameo is far more exciting. The drama itself I’m less interested in.
I finally overcame my aversion twds medical drama and greatly enjoyed Trauma Code. The team is a hoot.
Anyway, 2024 is the year of the Baek bros. Lols
I still couldn’t watch Hosplay but happy that YYS is getting all the recognitions he deserved. Due to starring in Hosplay, I have not watched him anything since Mr.Sunshine. He’s hardworking and definitely the one hard carrying WTPR together with that insane chemistry with CSB that made the drama so popular.
Actually HP is more human focused rather than medical action dramatic stuff. The five besties’ friendships, slow burn courtships and family relationships intermingle with their professional day to day lives and medical dilemmas. Think of it as a Reply series in a hospital setting. The HP seasons are written by Lee Woo Jung who wrote all the Reply series. They are also directed by Reply PD Shin Wonho Lots of kdrama fans have misconceptions about HP due to comparisons with other medical dramas thus giving it a wide berth. It’s an acquired taste. Those who love Reply series would probably love HP. They’re also 12 episodes each which is far easier to handle.
Yes, the Baek husbands and Hong wives ruled in 2024. Lol.
Most of the time I can’t stand the ridiculousness of some of those medical dramas, like in The Doctors, when Park Shin Hye’s doctor character fought off gangsters in the emergency room. Was it cool? Yes! But also so absurd this would happen in the hospital. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Hospital Playlist because of its more realistic depiction of the medical profession and focus on human relationships without any glaring medical inaccuracy. And I’m excited Resident Playlist is finally coming out and hope it is as good!
No offense to YYS but he was hotter during HP and Reply?! Im always in korean portals but nobody talks about him there though? Lee Jun Hyuk is and that kid from TC more but not YYS so not sure about career high? What are his new endorsements? Never saw him gracing magazine covers or some rampage in Airports?

So happy for yys. He is so hardworking actor. I really enjoyed hosplay and dr romantic. As a doctor trauma code is too over superpowerish for me while hosplay is bit humane. So bery happy to see them back.
Nice cameos! I didn’t like the different romances in Hospital Playlist but the friendship and the cases were great. Not medical decisions taken because of politics!
Hospital Playlist is one of my most favorite. The MUSIC at the end of each episode made me want to dance and sing. I love the diversity in personality and plot of stories.

YYS is aging like fine wine. He’s always been this side character I liked watching but didn’t care for, but him in WTPR, God Damn. Its mainly because they finally paired him with the right girl, CSB. He’s always playing a doctor and honestly, I am not too impressed with Asian medical dramas. Probably won’t be watching this but I am happy these two are making cameos.
